Harv- Yes, I did scratch the inside of the cowl flaps to busy that area up a bit.  Some styrene cut to shape and some wire did the trick nicely.

Quick question for you though, what color are you planning on painting the wheel wells and wheel well covers?  I ask as I'm doing a night fighter and cannot decide on black or ZC green.

For the wheel wells and covers, I painted mine white as the black and white photo I have of the bird looks like white is the bottom color.  In this photo, the front covers look much lighter than the intermediate blue vertical tail, and these aircraft were upgraded at some point as they have the taller tailwheel usually associated with later versions.  They also wore a three tone paint scheme indicating the upgrade at some point.  Hope that helps!

I put the finishing to the night fighter this morning, and I am calling this one done!  Couple of little things I would do differently next time, but isn't that always the case?  Overall, I am happy with the way she turned out.  Here are some pics, hope you like!

Guys, don't worry about the end date, just keep on building.  I've had a lot of work realted issues going on the last few months and haven't had time to model much.  I've still got a half-assembled B-17 on my workbench that could really use some attention.  I'm hoping it gets finished by the end of the year, even though most of the hard stuff is finished.

Thanks Fred and don't I know that story, work has virtually killed off all modeling for me for months now.

Stunning work Frank particularly the paint job on the bottom of the aircraft, it's very subtle and very realistic, great job.

Btw that was a bloody hard category to judge let me tell you.  How do you score a Gundam for realism????

Richie -- thanks for the tip, my friend, I tracked down Micro-Surface on the web and they advised me of the polishing kit to buy for hobby purposes. I might as well use this nobbly little Corsair of mine as a test piece for cutting back the multiple coats of Micro Gloss I brushed on, and we'll see what we shall see!

Richie I had a blast on Saturday and it was great to meet you face to face, if you ever feel like coming along to an IPMS meeting give me a call or check out the website.

Progress on my Corsair has been in the form of figuring out where the heck I got up to before I shelved the project. Cockpit is pretty much done with just some detail painting remaining and I managed to paint the wheel wells and gear doors last night.

Once the pit is assembled I'll post some pics, but in the mean time here is a photo I found on the web of the bird I'm doing.

A little bit of progress on my Korean lamb! Got the flaps scribed off now. Will be drooping the elevators too later. The port wing flap seperation lines between the top and bottom didn't line up, didn't discover this until I had already made the first saw cut through the outboard one!! They are close enough that the mismatch can be hidden, so just annoying is all lol. In th epic you can see the starboard inboard got bitten, but nothing super glue can't hide luckily.

Figured I'd bump this to keep it going.  I'll extend the end date - no sense just ending it when the F4U is such a popular bird.

Funny thing you mentioned this one, I just got the October issue of FSM in the mail today with a check- they put my F4U-2N in the reader gallery!

Fred that's a great idea to extend the build as I haven't touched my F4U-5N for ages either.

Frank congrats on that , we won't see that issue on the news stands for quite a few months yet but I'll definitely be picking it up when it arrives.

Well, well, well -- with the Corsair GB alive and kicking again, I think I might invest in that polishing kit and see what I can do with the paintwork on that Hasegawa -1D. I also chased up those Salvadorean decals for the big Tamiya today, hopefully they're poised for release. I'd still love to see that camo bird in the display case!
