Greg, I googled it and all I could find is at     saber-pilots.org   Try that. It talks about changes made and such but has no refferances to any spacific aircraft. If I find more, I`ll post Sorry..........Harv

It seems like a nice excuse for me to build a Gabby's Sabre Smile [:)], however I may ask you gebtlemen for some help. Seing so many Sabres on a list I hope you will know the answer to my question.

There was a Sabre F-86E-10 with name "GABBY"on a port side.

What would be a kit available for this aircraft and decals , all in 1/48 scale ?? Any hope ????

Flying is a thrill #2 known to mankind. Landing is #1.

SQUADRON shows them instock for $10.80. It is PART 2. Also I forgot to say the HASE kit already has the slotted wing............Harv

Mucker, they are EAGLE STRIKE #32046. It has CAPT Fishers "PAPER TIGER" FU-958 and MAJ. HAGERSTROM`s "MIG POISON/ NORINE" FU-341. I know there still available, but off hand couldn`t tell where, but I have seen them. I got mine about 8 months ago.

And no, I havent read his book but sounds good. I may just get it!

With the HASEGAWA kit you just have to cut about a 1/4 in out between the wing tip and pannel line by the outer flap. As a matter of fact, the decal sheet has the instuctsions on how to do it included!............Harv

Harv, where'd you ever come up with decals for 1/32? It took me forever to find references on-line. I know what you mean about the wing. I don't think I'm up for major surgery (assuming I can even find the Cutting Edge kit), so I may just leave it as is. I also have the 1/48 Italeri kit, but the wing isn't correct here, either.

By chance, have you read his book? It really humbles you when you think you have it rough. I can't even fathom the things he and his fellow servicemen went through in Hanoi.

Hey Mucker, thats my build!. I plan on using those decals for my build(1/32). Not to be too nit picy, you have the wrong wing for that bird. It should be the slatted short wing. I have to do some sugery to my wings to make it right. But a very nice build!!

Jerry: It would be an honor to have you in the build. From what I've seen, the Sabre Dog never made it into the Korean War (I'd love to be shown otherwise...I have a "D' in my stash as well), but the F-86F would be welcome. What scale and kit do you have?

I plan on doing something a little special. I've had some custom decals made for Robbie Risner's mount and this being the 35th anniversary of his book "The Passing of the Night" (highly recommended), along with the airing of the Dogfights Season One episode "Mig Alley", I thought I would build it as a tribute.

Dupes:

I've built the Academy F-86F this year and found it to be a great kit. THe cockpit suffers from bareness and you'll help yourself out by starting with aftermarket decals, but the rest of the kit was nice...especially for the price.

I've just ordered the Hasegawa Sabre today so I can do a comparison with the Academy kit. Even if the Hasegawa kit turns out to be a "nicer" kit, it will be hard to beat Academy dollar for dollar.

There goes the F-86 neighborhood.......

Way to break up the party, Bob!Wink [;)]

The Korean War Mustang is a great addition. As popular as the Mustang is, I rarely see them built as the F-51. I'll be looking for yours when you get around to it. Glad to have you on board, Bob.

Dupes, have you considered the KINETICS 1/32 F86? I`ve only seen one built and its supposed to be the best to date. I would love to see someone build one here. There is an AM cocpit out for it also...............Harv

I can't believe this, but I've been shopping around online for a Sabre. That Academy F seems to get pretty high marks...Big Smile [:D]

I was only joking about changing the GB, btw. Wink [;)]

I am going to keep this as a Korean War GB...I've done some research on the air war in Korea, and would love to see some Migs, F-84's, Shooting Stars, Corsairs....and then there's the whole realm of the ground war of which I know very little. I'm hoping to learn quite a bit through this GB.

I think some Dupes armor (and a Sabre?) would fit in nicely here.

I vote to leave the GB as is. There is lots of other stuff like MIGS, figures, FLAME THROWING  TANKS, jeeps , mustangs....you know...............Harv

I am seconding my own motion that this needs to be an F-86 GB. We can do a different Korean war build later, right? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Let me know when you're ready , Dupes. I'd love to have some Armor mixed in. Who knows....I may even want to build something....<gulp>...without wings!

I know what you mean about the "F-86 GB"!!!

Sure this shouldn't be called the F-86 GB? Laugh [(-D]

Love to get in on this one, hoping I can clear out my current GB pile...got a flamethrower Sherman or a pile of a/c that might qualify. Will be keeping tabs on the build, and hopefully I can get in on it! Big Smile [:D]

It would be great if you could join, Harv...you can sign up any time between now and the end date if you feel you can finish it by the end date. Of course it's not a rock solid end date, but meant to give a little structure to the group build so we're all working to the same dates.

I'd love to have your character in this GB.
