An extension of the end date is really appreciated.  Work has been taking up so much time that I've had no time to build for about a month.  I'm hoping to wrap up my 2009 budgets by Thanksgiving which will free up a lot of time.  Thanks!

Hello fellow modelers. No update, but do have pics of my endless work on flaps & stabelisers. I really want feedback on this, so be brutaly onest. I`m using Hawkeyes Alum powder and his alum paint Some pieces have been sprayed with future then polished. I`ll let you all be the judges,OK?.......Harv   ( the pics were taken outside with some overcast)

Thanks for having me aboard, Mucker. I made a start today with masking for the parts to receive pre-assembly painting. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot some interior green tomorrow.

Cheers,

Mike/TB379

Mike:

Welcome aboard! A Korean War Mustang would be most welcome! Which scale will you be building?

You may have noticed that the deadline has been extended to the end of January 2009, so hopefully you'll have plenty of time. Feel free to post progress as you make it.

Hi Mucker,

Could I join this build? I notice on Page 1 that cross-entries are fine so I'd like to ofer a P-51D as a crossover with the Mustang GB. (I also notice on the leaderboard that nobody is doing a Mustang at this point, so it would be a neat addition to the group's repertoir.)

I'm proposing the Tamiya P-51D, Korean edition, markings for Col. W. Clarke, CO 18th FBG, serial 474651, on a buzz-number of FF-651. Scheme is natural metal with multi-color fuselage band, black AG panel and yellow tip to all flying surfaces. I recently got my first example of this kit and she looks a very nice build, so nice I decided I would like to build one OOB before going for a more complicated/ambitious example for the Mustang GB.

Hoping to come aboard,

Mike/TB379

Update. I managed to finish engine, redy to install. The stablizers are painted & polished. The flap halves are all glued together and ready for paint. The rear deck fell out last night so had to reglue that. But over all I`m happy with the progress, the most I`ve been able to acomplish in a long while............Harv

I have moved the deadline one month back to January 31st, 2009. Does this work for everyone or is more time needed?

I managed to get all of the tracks cut from the spruce & sides cleaned.  There are two nasty sink marks on each tread-not sure if I'm going to address it by sanding or by applying some mud to the finished product.

Mucker-have you decided on an extension finish date or are we sticking with the orginal 12/31 date?

Thanks

Bob

Thanks Mucker.

It's the Dragon M4A3E8 Korean War series.  Old kit, probably not the least bit accurate, requires much cutting and has the dreaded individual links that have to be removed from the spruce & filed/sanded.  However, this will be a good mindless activity while my son has control of the remote on Friday nights.....

Will do, Bob. Which kit and scale will you be building?

Also, I think I am with you on an extension. Fall Cleaning and work have really set me back with my T-33.

Mucker-please change my build.  I'm going to submit the Sheman tank for this one.  I'm looking forward to painting the face one it rather than using the kit decals.  I'm going to submit the    F-51D for the Mud Movers GB but I'll post a couple of pics over here when it's finished.

Thanks

Bob

SAR, I hope you stick with it and finish. I`m sure it will come out fine!   I finaly finished those damn forward edge flaps. All sanded down. Layed down a couple of layers of S&J powders on (aluminum & steel) then sealed them with future. Tomorro I`ll take them out and see what I got. A word of advice on the powders. Make sure everything is CLEAN! Finger prints will show up on the surfice even after polishing. I know! I need to bring home some surgecal gloves home for the fusalodge powdering...........Harv

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  I've made a little progress on the F-51D-interior is painted, still needs detail work and PE belts installed.  Still behind on a couple other GB's-hopefully I will complete the Battle of Britian this coming weekend.  My son's soccer season is over, freeing up a lot of evenings...unless he decides to play basketball.  Bottom line is that I would be open for an extension-I could complete some other projects and then get back to this one.  But I may be able to finish within the existing time frame....maybe.....Whistling [:-^]

Mucker, same here. I didn`t get to touch a thing. You know, as slow as this is going, we may have to extend the end date.  I`m not even half way there and we only have 2 months left.....Harv

To my dismay...no modelling over the weekend. Sad [:(]

I've been doing some major overhauling in the basement and made such a mess i couldn't get  to my work bench!

Which areas did you have the fit problems with? Maybe you got a lemon of a kit. Mine went together very well, at least from a fit standpoint.

Harv: Hanks for keping this  moving...work has been hectic, as in a lot of travel lately. I'm itching to get some bench time. The True Details cockpit set is reallt nice for the T-33.

Andy, unfortunately I'm trying to keep this as a historic GB. I do apoligize.

It is quite a neat idea, though and I'll be looking for it on the Aircraft forums. Are you going with the gloss dark navy blue color?

Harv, you don;t look a day over 57! Whistling [:-^]

Happy early birthday. Happy B-Day [bday]

A slight case of bronchitis has had me away from the bench, but I'm slowly but surely detailing the True Details cockpit of the T-33. With any luck I'll take pictures over the weekend.
