Great looking builds White and Mobius! You fella's have been much more productive than I. But I hope to catch-up. After working my tail off for the last couple of months I have rewarded myself with taking the next couple of weeks off work, so it looks like I'll be able to finish this GB on time after all...
Today was the first productive day I've had on my M113-Fitter. I've decided to finish it in the IDF markings provided in the kit. There are alternate decals for an Australian unit if a person desired. Earlier work saw the assembly of the hull, suspension and interior. I have opted to seal this bucket up, so no detailing was done on the interior at all. Today the top of the hull was secured along with the side cabinets and a plethora of goodies on top.
This being my first armour model of any significance (the only other being a Kettenkrad that met an unfortunate end a few months ago when the turpenoid I used in my oil wash ate through the kit's paint)...but I must say that I'm astounded at the quantity of "fiddly bits"...lol.
It's also been very humbling; my skills at glueing the aforementioned very tiny bits are not as advanced as I wish they were, and I'm frustrated with the outcome in some areas. That being said, I'm not getting discouraged and am still having fun while I "pay my dues" in this new-to-me genre. (I've decided to take my own advice that I give to my son about his model building: "You can not expect to do something perfectly the first time...so take your time, enjoy yourself and learn from any mistakes you make along the way"). It is now a 3-foot model: most displays that our club puts on won't allow the spectators any closer than 3 feet...and from 3 feet, this model will look fine...lol
Anyways, I thought I'd best get something WIP-related up here so you could see that I hadn't just faded away. More progress pics to come...I hope to hit the paint booth late Sunday or Monday.
Cheers
