Hey panzerguy, I know it's sorta of late into this GB already. But I was wondering if I could switch my build to a 1/35 Italeri kfz. 15 Horch?Question [?] It was used as a transport vehicle, but it was also used as a command and liaison vehicle.

If you allow it, then I'll be building the Horch instead of the RPM Ford T Lorry.

Mg Mikael no problem just make sure its got some type of supplies stacked in the bed

Mobious  Since this was designed to ferry troops and supplies across the channel I think it would fit in nicely

CaSSius looking foward to those pics

And a little update my Bergetiger took a gold at AMPS east and today at the IPMS Granitcon show it took first in the AFV cat.  Dupes and Al Lafleche were there also and didnt do to shabby eitherBig Smile [:D]

 Hello,

panzerguy, Great News! That is a Beautiful Bergetiger well deserving of a gold. Did you ever get the dio built?

Glad to hear other FSM Forum guys getting recognition also. Both dupes and Al are very capable modelers. Always enjoy their work.

Should have the LWS next week. Looking forward to building that one. Better brush up on the Naval terminology.

caSSius, would like to see some update pics. Lot's!Wink [;)]

luftwoller, I really enjoyed your Famo build. Thanks for sharing it!

 Hello,

A very nice "quickie" base indeed.

Got the LWS, It's bigger than I had expected. Haven't built anything with tracks in a couple months. Looking forward to getting started. Looking for crew members. Would they have been Kriegsmarine?

 Hello,

Started the LWS last night and ran into problems... The lower hull was bowed inward so it was spread with a clamp and set overnight. Not a real big problem, I would have expected worse. Everything else looks nearly flawless with this kit. while drilling the bumper tie downs, snapped the drill bit flush with the hull. Managed to use my needle nose pliers to work it back out after shaving around the broken bit.Sign - Oops [#oops]

After removing the clamp, the upper hull fit nicely onto the lower hull.

Had to get a comparison shot...

 Best Regards,

 Mobious

Very nice Mobious, I expected the thing to be a lot bigger. Compared to the schwimmer its tiny. They are in the same scale arnt they?

They are both 1/35 scale. I haven't built anything larger than a single axle truck in 6 months, so to me this thing looks monstrous, but hey on the upside it's got tracks and floatsBig Smile [:D] According to the brief history included with the instructions, it was capable of towing a floating trailer with an Sdkfz 9. HMMMM...Mischief [:-,]

Thanks stick man for the positive comments. Just starting step 2, with all the bump stops and thingies behind the tracks.

Thanks panzerguy, This is my first Bronco kit. The level of detail on the hull is great. There is little flash and aside from the minor hull issue everything is schwimming along nicely.

thanks again for the comments and viewing.

The schwimmer would count for service and support as well. Do you have any more pics and descriptions of what kit and bits you used on that. I love schwimwagons.

Hello,

Originally the schwimmer was going to be a WIP. The only pics I have in construct is this one...

I think it shows most of the work done. Started with the 1/35 Tamiya schwimmwagen and the Eduard PE. I didn't want the tied off canvas top that the kit offered, but as illustrated in the pic I incorrectly folded the top. After it was painted and nearly finished is when I decided to redo the top and correct my erring ways. Toadman's has a wonderful walkaround on a Schwimmwagen that I used to model the top after.  The top frame is scratchbuilt with styrene and motorcyle hand levers for the latches. The top itself is Apoxy sculpting compound, as is the front bundled tarp.

Here is a shot from somewhere up above it...

the Eduard set isn't too bad, but it does miss some of the smaller interior details, like gear tie downs. Easy enough to make with wire. I think Aber offers a PE set also, but have never used Aber. One thing to note if planning a build is to check the clearence between the floor boards and the sides. I've seen pics of gerrycans shoved in there and to do that the kit would have to be modified. I didn't catch that one until too late in the build to correct.

It was a blast to build and I have 2 more in the stash. Something about a bathtub with wheels sporting an MG42 that I thinks is cool too.Cool [8D]

OBTW here is a camo paint scheme that I want to do on a Schwimmer...

Just sit right back and hear a tale, a tale of a mighty Schlepper...

Steps 3 and 4 are the roadwheel truck assembly. Can't locate my handy camera so I couldn't get any pics, wouldn't have been too interesting anyway.

Step 5 is the attachment of the trucks, the assembly of the props, rudders, drive sprocket, and idler.

Here's whats been done so far...

Any ideas on how to do water in a dio? It appears that fiberglass resin is the best and least expensive. Tried a little test with gel mediums and wasn't happy with the results. I think I'll try the resin this weekend and try several test to see if it will do what I want it to do. Crossing my fingers and stir sticks just for luck.

 Best Regards,

 Mobious

Mobious be careful with the resin. Even though I've never used it I've heard from a few people that it gets pretty hot while it dries. Also the new squadron cataloge has figs for this kit. I think there Legend.

Great pics Mobious. I too am a lover of all things Schwimmer. I built the type 166 from Tamiya with the SB Models update set. The Schwimmer now resides in the back of the famo. Heres the 166

and heres a cool site, youve probably seen before, for schwimmer lovers. Heres the section on wartime images of the schwimmer.

Hello,

Thanks Panzerguy on the heads up. Will be looking into (playing with) the resin and see how much heat is generated. I've heard that it dependes on how much "activator" is added, the quicker the set time the more heat.Confused [%-)] I've added the legend figures to my shopping cart. Haven't seen any of their products before, will be looking forward to these.

Luftwoller, That is one coool site, added to my favorites. I was wondering about the larger tires. Does anyone offer a set in 1/35? OBTW, I do remember that nicely detailed 166 tucked in the back of the "Famo". That's a top notch piece!Bow [bow]

 Hello,

Making slow headway with this build.

Step 6: Is the build up of the guide rollers on the aft deck. This consisted of 6 parts. It would have been nice to see the carrier roller molded as a seperate piece.

Step 7: Attachment of cabin floor stowage hatches, Ended up using .020" styrene for the handles. It was easier for me than to remove the pieces from the trees. Besides lost one right off.

Step 8: Is a subassembly of the winch. There are 14 pieces to this subassembly. All are pretty much free from flash and go together to form the 2 rollers in the block portion of the winch.

Step 9: Mounts the 2 rollers onto a plate which in turn gets mounted to the aft deck.  The PE included with the kit is IMHO very nicely detailed. The intake screens look very well done. Thanks Bronco.

Step 10: Interior cabin details begin to get assembled. Also noteworthy in Step 10 is subassembly 3 which is the construction of the winch itself. This step again has 16 pieces to make up the winch. Each is crisply molded with little to no flash present. Thanks again Bronco!

This is where I'm @ on this one. This pic shows the winch and block. Sorry I didn't get the guide rollers in this pic.

It has been a really nice kit to build so far with no major fit issues. There were a couple of sink marks but none are visible so I've left them alone. One thing I have been looking for is pics of the winch rigged. With the winch itself inside the cabin, the cabin "hatch" would have to be left open in order to rig everthing up.

I did get a chance to look over the Aber PE set for the schwimmer on their website and I wish I would have seen that before getting the Eduard set. I'll have to get one for the stashed schwimmer.

I tried the fiberglass resin and the coloration is IMHO way to brown. It didn't appear to be clear enough either. The fumes are another matter for concern! WOW!

Coo Eeee. Me again. I found a few cool Wasser-schlepper pics for ya. I love the subject so it wasnt too much of an ordeal.

Now these 3 pics are a cracking idea for a dio...The 1st one is one the only that i could find of a LWS actually floating.

These last 2 are of one of the trailers that they dragged throught he water. For the dio im thinking Famo, trail and LWS. Whatcha reckon?

I saved a fair few pics if your interested.

Luftwoller, Those are some cool pics. I think the first one, if I'm not mistaken, is occupied by members of her royal majesty's armed forces? The LWS sure sets low in the water. That second pic. looks like they're utilizing the winching system. Awesome. I've been looking all over for pics of the trailer. Great shots, thanks a bunch. Let's see, I'll do a quick inventory on things. 1)LWS (Got That) 2) Famo (Got That) 3) Pleny of Sheet styrene (Got That) 4) Yes, I am VERY INTERESTED in the pics you've foundThumbs Up [tup]. Especially the trailer.
