 I would like to thank all that helped with suggestions, feedback, and viewing the LWS build. Also, want to thank everyone for posting all of the unusual and spectacular builds. For me many were also inspirational. This has been a great GB and glad that I could join. Looking forward to seeing more updates!

 Luftwoller, IMHO the Techweave bumpers are a top notch product that I will be using for the DUKW also. The Archer Transfers flag was a snap to fashion. Thanks again for all the help with the build.

That's a nice thing to offer, Steve, and thanks for the encouragement. I'm still gonna try for the deadline next week... the build is built, now the paint just needs paintin'. I'll charge up my dead camera and post my build shots shortly, to prove that I've been working

Well I finished my build this morrning but since I got home 10 minunts ago I found it brokin but not that badly so I should have pix up soon.

It's gonna be close SteveM...but I should still be able to make the deadline on the 15th...*fingers crossed*...a myriad of delays arose since my last post, but plugging away "a little bit here and a little bit there" has me finally at the point of starting to paint my M113 Fitter. (geez, coming from cars and A/C building, I'm continually amazed at the sheer number of parts this kit has; heck the 144 indy links alone represents more parts than I'm used to......the primer is going on tomorrow...*fingers and toes crossed*

Sorry, no pics tonight...the sofa in my hobby room has been commandeered by a little fella that needed a nap, and I am not gonna risk waking his cranky little butt by lighting up the photo-box...but I'll try and get some pics up this weekend.

Progress is slow but sure...the M113 made it into the paint booth yesterday for priming

Apologies for the quality of the pic, my usual light blue background was too similar to the light grey primer to provide enough contrast to see the build...this black background ended up being semi-reflective but was a bit better.

I'll be shooting the first coat of "IDF Sand" later tonight. I did a brief search to find what paint (or mix) I should use to represent that colour and made the discovery that there was a different "recipe" from each person that had documented their preference. Therefore, due to time constraints I'm going to use one of the simplier suggestions...Tamiya XF-57 Buff lightened with a dash of white or light grey. If all goes well, that will be completed before Friday and final assembly & weathering will commence by the weekend...I dunno why I've gotta leave things until the last minute all the time!......working to a deadline reminds me of my consulting days; I've always worked better under pressure...

I'll post more as soon as there's something to show

Thanks for the support Guy! The pep talk is just what I needed......and yeah Stickman, what did happen to yer model? I hope it was recoverable and you'll be able to put up pics.

As far as my Fitter goes, the IDF Sand is pretty much done now...I found a piece or two that I forgot to add (see pic #4) that will be given a spray shortly, but now what's mostly left is to tackle the tracks (it's gonna be my first attempt at indy-links) and then start the weathering.

Here's where I'm sittin' with 5 days left in the GB...

I utilized a draftsman's circle template to aid in painting the wheels (thanks wbill for that tip) and was relatively pleased with the outcome...the only places where it didn't work perfectly, it was my own fault, and I'll touch those up later.

There's a few final parts to paint Sand and/or attach to the hull before I commence weathering, and of course there is a plethora of little items such as the lights, vision ports, etc. that need detail painting...and finally a few pieces of stowage (like the oxy-acetalene tanks, fire extinguisher, etc.) that will be added last.

My materials have been very basic with this strictly OOB build...Tamiya acrylic paints were used with the sole exception of using Model Master's Gunmetal Metallizer #1423 on the MG (strangely enough, MM makes two Metallizers called Gunmetal, differing in shade and part number) sprayed from an Aztek A470M (Metal) airbrush with the beige (fine - 0.30mm) tip.

A few areas will be getting drybrushed prior to laying down a few washes using Winsor & Newton artist oils thinned with turpenoid. My references indicate that Isreali weathering (mostly dust instead of mud) leans toward lightening details rather than darkening them...although there are some areas that will require the more conventional darker washes. I pre-shaded the rims (it's hard not to when spraying the tires first and then painting the rims afterwards with a template) and I'm fairly happy with their appearance already...the pictures don't show very clearly the depth that's already apparent, but it's a good start.

Well...things should be dry enough to return to the paint booth...more to come

I have shot some pix, as proof that I AM building, and will throw them up as an update. Bear in mind, this little RSO/01 still has plenty of work left, such as detail paint touch-ups, lint and dust removal (), before I can carry on with decaling, weathering. Heavy weathering will make up for the in-progress breakage, poor building technique (as we musicians say, we'll "fix it in the mix").

Built 95% OOB, small PE detail here and there. Friuls] tracks still in-progress.

SteveM - That RSO looks great...I'm gonna have to 'back-pedal' through the previous posts to learn more about your kit and such, that looks like something I'd like to add to my own shelves. Good luck with the final touches!

panzerguy - Thanks for the comments and for hosting this gig. It was a lot of fun and a great GB to 'cut my teeth on'...my only regret was getting so busy at the day-job that my building was delayed.  That and not participating/posting more here in the Forum.

But now for the bummer part; after being stricken with the flu last Sunday, and the subsequent overtime I'm gonna have at work for the rest of the week (to catch-up for my absence on Monday & Tuesday), it has become clear that I am not going to be able to meet the GB deadline, as I won't be able to do the final assembly and start weathering until Friday evening. So, sadly this is where it ends for me.

If I don't completely FUBAR the weathering stages I may post the completed build in the Armor Forum sometime in the next week or two...(that'll give you a chance to see this Fitter with it's crane attached panzerguy...lol)...we'll see, my skills aren't up to the standard of the usual posts there.

OK, well... I hope this is enough to call "finished"; award winner NO but, I do hope it is badge-earning. Ain't got one of those, yet. I am going to weather her a bit more, especially the Friuls. A few breaks here and there along the way. Also, I managed to frost out the driver's side windshield, like a complete moron. One of things you do, then instantly go, "you dumbsh****!!". And working with the Friuls nearly killed the poor little bugger, while trying to get them on there. So, warts and all, here's my RSO/01 that I like to call "The Little Aneurysm That Could":

I'll slather some mud on her, put her on a base, and post something in the Dio forum soon, if anyone is interested. Hopefully, with enough weathering, I can hide the sore spots. Doesn't mean I'm coming anywhere CLOSE to the Armor forum with it, tho.

Thanks for looking, and to the GB for forcing me to finally build one of my beloved Raupenschleppers. I have 4 more in the stash, so this was a good test for me.

 Hey Steve, the schlepper looks good. The warts add character! at least that's what they tell me. Just kidding. One thing, the track on the port side looks like it may need a link removed, and fit a little tighter around the drive socket. The windshield can be repaired. I've done the same thing on a GPA I built. Use the original as a pattern to cut a new one from .005" clear. IMO they look better than the kit glass does. Any way, Glad to see you made it under the wire and came up with a nice looking finish. Mission accomplished, soldier!

All right here are my finished pix!!!! I gothe the suspention glued back on afrer it broke and I think it looks pretty good....

In this pic you can kinda see the chunks of resin under the tarp but thats been fixed....

The base still needs a bit of work....
