Given the extension & the lack of good judgement on my part, I've started on the King Tiger-primed the road wheels & lower chasis with Krylon red oxide today.  Hope to get the wheels painted and lower chasis assembled by weeks' end.

The kit is the Dragon 'Battle of the Bulge' Tiger II, 1/35th scale.  I'll be using the Bison 'Berlin'45' decal for a Tiger II of s.SS Pz Abt 503 destroyed outside Polsdamer Banhof.

Fire in the hole! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

The knee is really starting to heal up and I'm getting around pretty good this week. I'll get going on the JS-2 again, just hit kind of a snag and didn't want to dive into getting the Aber Grills installed. I feel my funk slowly going away so maybe I'll get back to it this weekend. I always have a tough time meeting the deadlines too as I often over commit and life always seems to somehow get in the way of modeling. I probably won't have the JS-2 finished until towards the end of the month as I need to get some momentum going on my 251/1.... I do not want to let Dupes down by dropping the ball.....

Nice work and congratulations Model Maniac 96! You can be very proud of your work and your accomplishment. Looking forward to seeing more of your work in the future!

Those of you who are feeling a little pressure with the rapidly looming end date, just keep at it and see if we can get this GB wrapped up by the end of May.

Hey espins1, Are you considering extending the deadline or maybe opting to host another "Historical Battle GB"?

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  Ditto that on both counts-Very nice work on the viginette Jim.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work here in the forums.

Scott-As is becoming habit more than I care for it to, I have my kit (King Tiger), aluminium barrel & Berlin '45 decals.....just not enough time.  My fault thought-over committing and taking a mental break.  Dunno if extending the deadline would motivate me but I do look forward to the next historic theme GB.  btw-how's the knee?

All right bufflehead, here's the, ''knowledge''. I had tried a wash but it did not work out the way I wanted it to. What I did was I smeared some Burnt Sienna oil paint on a napkin and then dipped a Q-tip into the paint and dabbed it on to the sandbags, (I did this twice for the tops and once for the sides), then I smudged and smeared it around on the bags. After that I let it dry for about 15 minutes, after that I removed the extra with nail polish remover and repeated this process about 4 times, lastly, I dry brushed Burnt Umber all over. And to finish it all up I used a spotter brush to dab burnt umber and sienna, and I think that about sums it up. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Jim

Jim,

First, if not a wash, then what did you do to the sandbags to make them look that way?  C'mon, share the knowledge!

Second, for the badge go to the first page of this GB and copy & save the group badge image from Scott's first post.  Then upload it to the same image hosting site that you use for your photos.  Then go into your profile to update it by adding the image link to your signature.  That's it!

What?!? Only 3 weeks left! Schnikeys! Time to put the JS-2 back on the bench!!!

I hear that, I finally had some weather warm enough to hit the Panther with DG from the rattle can over the weekend.  Hopefully I'll  have a warm weekend so I can experiment with the new airbrush and hopefully put the camo on....think I'll be going with the one tone Totenkopf version.

I really want to finish this build on time!

Holy Crud!!  Shock [:O]Only 3 weeks to go???Shock [:O]  YIKES!!  I better get my butt in gear!!  I just finished a build for the "No More Excuses" GB so now I can dive right into the Tamiya JS-2.  I've heard its a gem of a kit and easy to assemble so maybe, just maybe, I can get it done in time!  Its the painting that always slows me down though!

Scott!  Where's your JS-2?  I need something to aspire to!!Big Smile [:D]

Nice work on the mortar team! The sandbags look like they could use a dusting with some pigments as they still look a little plasticy..... great vignette!

Model maniac, I've had the glare from lights do the same on photo's before. Nice work and congratulations on the completed viginette.

Thanks Mobious for the quick reply!, but I think that it was just some bad pics, a lot of glare, it's actually not that shiny in real life.

Hi guys!

This one has been brewing for a little while. But, after working out a few kinks, I think I'm finally done. My vignette is titled "Fire!". It is taking place during the Battle of Seelow Heights in Germany, April 1945. The Germans have spotted a column of Russian armor approaching and have been ordered to obliterate the enemy column.

Here's the pics:

First a couple of overhead views:

Note the grime collected in the helmet and the piled grenades.

Hey Jmart, That's a nice bundle of goodies. The Griffon tool holders IMO are very nice to work with, I use them on all the German WWII Armor I build.  I think SMJ has a very good suggestion though.
