Sorry guys if I'm a bit slow to respond at times.  Been dealing with some bad knee issues.  Went in to see the Orthopedic Surgeon on Tuesday, stuck a big needle into my knee joint and drained a lot of the fluid.  I felt so crappy yesterday I stayed home all day and kept ice on my knee.   go back in next Tuesday.... the next step will probably be surgery.... sigh.

I'm still here fellas!  February kicked my @@@, had to work 6 days a week, 12 hr days!  I was too beat to spend much time at the bench or forums.  But March is back to normal and I have weekends free again. 

Huxy - Nice little 234/3...ugly, but nice!!  Great work on those jerry cans, I'm sure you needed a magnifying glass to do the required scratchbuilding!!

madmike - I checked out the link!  SWEEEET little dio!!  Fantastic work on both vehicles, they do indeed look like 1/35!  Good stuff!!

espins1 - Hey Scottie!  Looks like you're wrapping up assembly on your Tamiya JS-2 and I JUST got started on mine!! All I've done so far are the 24 roadwheels and I have to say it was one of the best roadwheel experiences I've had!!  Clean-up was SO easy!  Cleaning up roadwheels is my least favorite part of building tanks, but if the rest of the assembly for this kit is as nice, I'm going to LOVE building this kit!  I'll post pics this weekend, when I have more assembled. BTW, what do you think of the Aber barrel?  Is it worth getting or should I just stick with the kit barrel?  Any oddities with this kit I should be aware of?

The basic assembly of my JS-2 is complete.  I still need to add the Aber grill screens to the engine deck which I'll take care of this week.  I plan to work on the individual track links during the drying/curing stages of the paint.

Huxy, your little armoured car is looking a treat so far. I don't have the Italeri one in my stash, though I do have the Roden kit. Might look at acquiring one.

Ofcourse, I had to fix those undetailed jerrycans... To the left you see my first try, and to the right, a jerrycan as it came in the kit... I changed that first try a little later..

And some progress on the vehicle itself... Filled gaps and sanded... more or less perfect, I may find something to correct.


No wonder the Germans called this vehicle for "Schwein".. The ugly sd.kfz 234/3... You see some of the interior in this shot:

The cannon and it's sidewalls are left unglued at the moment for ease of painting a little later on..

 espins1, Looking forward to seeing more of the massive JS2. The Aber barrel really looks great.

Ok, finally catching up in here... had to close my ship yard/factory/hangar (aka basement man cave) due to a leaking water tank. Always fun!  New (tankless) water heater in place, some minor repair work in progress, builds will resume in a week or so...  Some great stuff going on in here!

Scott - great work, love that barrel detail! Pricey, maybe when Im good enough I can try them!

And PS - hope knee gets better, been there done that! PT is the key...

Huxy - really nice build so far, impressive SB at this scale!

Looking good Huxy!  And thanks for keeping this GB alive!  LOL  Everyone must be busy with other things.  I've been having some knee problems.  I see the Orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday.  The MRI was really cool.  It's amazing the technology they have now days.  Anyway, I was in pretty bad shape for about 2 weeks which sucked all my mojo..... haven't been doing much of anything lately ther than iceing the knee and medication myself in front of the TV  LOL.

I'll have some update shots of the JS-2 this weekend, just need to make a little more progress so its worth documenting.

Anyways, came a long way yesterday and today... Interior painted in light grey, which is a tad more off than the offwhite used in German AFV interior. Washed it with burnt sienna oil, and took a foam dipped in black grey and made the chipping.. The detailpainting such as highlights, gauges, seats and bare metal...
And then ofcourse, I tried my brand new MIG Pigments for the first time ever, and the result, I'm very happy!

Well, new update. Interior. Now with more scratchbuilding.. Yes, in 1/72..

The two panels you can see running on either side was to cover up some nasty holes where the suspension parts fitted in.. You can see a pair of them in the engine room: 

Here's the rear steering area... made some gauges as well. Also a box with hinges and everything just to fill out the open space:

Here's the front steering area. Had to scratchbuild the entire panel, as well as the usual gauges. Also a battery on the side:

Also, the gauges were cut out from these parts:

 They are some spare (4 of them all in all) which is made for the "fast and durable" version, where these rods replace the entire suspension system. As they change the size all the time, perfect for using as gauges!

Well, finally returned from IPMS (2nd place for me!) and have now started my little 234/3, and added some scratchbuilding!   This is my first 1/72 vehicle in a LONG time. If I have done anyone before, that is..

Anyways, the box:

The content were the instructions, the usual Italeri "attention" sheet, and the decal sheet. Not to forget, ONE single sprue:

I got the option of doing a "skillfull" version, or a "fast and sturdy" version for wargaming.. Skillfull for me!

I did step 1 relatively quick.. it is nearly a 10 step kit. I did take some inspiration from an unbuilt 234/1 in 1/35 by DML that I have, which shows a rail crossing underneath got bolts.. I replicated this with some scratchbuilding:

Finally!  Photobucket has been giving me issues all day, finally got some pics uploaded.  I didn't feel too red hot when I got home last night so I didn't install the hatches and handles on the turret yet, hopefully tonight.  My goal is to have this thing in the spray booth this weekend.

Man, this JS-2 is a brute!  It is very long, and the turret and super big gun must have been a bit intimidating to the defending Germans! 

I just need to attach the hatches and handles, I'll have some update photos tonight.

I hope to start on the King Tiger late Feb/early March.  I'll be doing a KT of s.SS-Pz Abt 503, destroyed outside Potsdamer Banhof.  This is one of the vehicles on the Berlin '45 decal sheet from Bison.
