Your not wrong there, we often have quite a few US Navy visitors up here each year. It is always a treat to watch their faces when filling the hire car for the first time....... But if I lived in the USA, I'd probably drive a large pickup truck with an engine the size of a small village power station at their prices for fuel. What always amazes me in the USA, is how cheap their taxes are...... and if you ever get the chance go shopping at an American PX (this is like a NAAFI shop), the prices are......... well the word cheap dose not describe how low they are. When last there I filled three shopping trollies with brand named clothes for the family for less than £100.

Ye, i know what you mean. I have been to a few PX's in Germany and Iraq. I have also been to Canada a 5 times and that was the only place i used to get my jeans. I paid in $'s what i would pay here in pounds, which made it half price. But as you say, they pay alot less tax and i think that makes alot of the difference.

dupes-my recent 10 issue subscriton to FSM would not have even got me 5 issues of the AFV mag and that one is a year old, so it has probably gone up by then. Your prices are alot cheaper to start with even before you convert pounds to dollars.

Hey, I got some back issues of AFV Modeller from eBay.  Same $17.00 or so price plus S&H....maybe cheaper than others?

Heh. That's what everyone USED to do, until the very recent spike in fuel prices. All of a sudden all of the large auto manufacturers that used to sell tons of SUV's (when gas was <$2/gallon) have experienced a major drop in sales.

Bicycle sales, however, are way up.

Bish - it's the Cyber Hobby kit (number 6293) which is OOP - but apparently there are still a couple around, much to my enjoyment!

Also have an admission or more like a confession....... was internet shopping and have ordered the Sd.Kfz.251/4 Ausf.C and leFH18/40 by AFV Club in 1:35 Kit No. AF 35s28.

More than happy with the Dragon 251/7 c/w 2.8cm AT, but realised that the former was only 5000 released and so had to add it to the stash for a later date.

Am i correct in thinking that cyber-hobby are linked to Dragon but they only do limited issue items.

There are 2 Cyber-Hobby kits at my LHS for about $55. Not sure what they usually go for. One is a Pz.Kpfw ... something or other and I belive the other one is a Tiger of some sort. Hefty feeling kits though, they weigh a little bit. Haven't peeked inside one before though.

The tiger might be worth it.  Depends apon which one it is.  The other panzer don't know.  Still some avaible from dragonusaonline.

Bish - Moose is mostly right. Cyber Hobby is a subsidiary of DML, and uses their molds (with some exceptions). They have 2 types of releases, the "green box" which are almost like regular DML releases, but say Cyber Hobby, and the "white box" ones, which are limited-run kits, and are the ones that tend to be worth a bundle...they go OOP very quickly, much to most modeler's dismay (no Panther F for me).

That's why I was quite surprised to find somewhere stocking that /23 - been OOP for a while now as far as I know. For a bit more info on CH, read this thread from a couple weeks ago:

I think you'll be happy with that kit.  I have it (it is the /4 I am building for this GB) and am considering getting another one since it is such a sweet kit.  The 251 can be built up as a straight /1 or you can add the ammo racks for the 105 to make it the /4.  The gun is a kit unto itself.  Really good stuff there...

That '5000' release caught me too.  Of course, it probably just means that in short order they will release both the /4 and the gun as seperate kits... if they have not already...

Well, yes and no... the box does state that it is a limited run kit with only 5000 being produced, but somehow I suspect that if they have not done so already, they will release both the /4 and the LeFH as seperate kits.  Obviously, the combination makes this one nice kit!

You are kinda the resident guru on the 251 series, and I know you have probably mentioned this in the thread already, but what do you consider to be the definitive reference for the 251's?  If I were to get only one reference, what would you suggest it should be?

I know the gun is already avalible on its own, and AFV have released a 251 Ausf C, which i guess is the same minus the /4 parts. I would not imagine they would release a /4 on its own though as the whole point of the /4 was to tow a gun.

Thanks for the info on cyber hobby guys. I am pretty sure i have never seen one in a shop over here, but i will keep my eyes open for them.

Thanks for the resident-guru vote, but I think that Hermes probably holds that distinction - he's got some references that have some insanely in depth info that I would like to get a hold of myself!

Personally, I use the Osprey manual quite a bit, it has some decent photos, a few paint schemes (although the art is a bit "MEH") and a lot of info on each variant. The Squadron "In Action" is certainly decent for reference pics. Take a look on the first page, one of the links I provided leads to kit reviews - if you look at the bottom of those reviews, there's generally a comprehensive list of good sources.

I would like to join in if there is still room.  I currently have the AFV Club 251/1 Ausf D, Dragon 6224 and 6233 kits in my stock.  I do not have a preference as to what I build; if I need to purchase another kit, I am willing to do that too.

Specter - a lot of people have that /9, and I've had more than one request for it already. Are there any other variants you're willing to build? Better question, are you willing to scratchbuild anything?

Russamys - got your stash down, and your no preference (which will help out a lot!). Same question for you, are you willing to scratchbuild anything? 

We've sort of hit "critical mass" right now with the GB, all of the readily available kit variants are spoken for. If anyone ELSE is willing to do some scratchbuilding of the 11-15, or 18-19 variants, let me know ASAP! (I'm omitting the /2 from the available list, because I think I'm going to end up doing that one.) Remember, that earlier assignment list wasn't quite official yet, except for those of you that had very special requests or limited kit stocks.
