Next . I did some more work on the camo .

Ready for exterior paint .

I painted the exterior red primer .That was a good base coat .

Then i sprayed the dunkelgelb , olivgrun and rotbraun.Over that i misted a sand color.

Tonight i weathered with a wash of acrylic black mixed with burnt umber . Over that i applied some shading using chalks .

coming out nice, Shell... also checked over at the GB.... I'm confused.. 2 different vehicles or one vehicle at 2 different levels of completeness?.... in any case, nice. 

I would also be very hesitant to spray an over all dusting on any model i may have built.. just not my style...you got guts !

Thanks Bill ! I didnt start this project with the idea of spending much time on it but the interior was so far off i decided to add to it .

I added some detail to the gun  and shield .

There is a shelf for the radio on the left of the gun mount and a compartment on the right side of the mount  that were missing .No gear shift levers were provided so i made mine from copper wire  with a couple of dabs of CA on the tip of each lever to form the knob .The interior is painted red primer .

Of course there was no radio so i scratced one and added a microphone . .

The finders on and wheels on temporary .I know the interior looks brown ....must be my lighting .The top and bottom hull halves were a bad fit and had to be glued one side at a time to get everything lined up . I used CA (super glue) to speed up the process.

More tommorow .

Looks like you're dressing up the older kit nicely Carl! While the Italeri offering has been superseded by the DML kit in terms of modern molding quality and level of detail, the older kit will still build up with some TLC. Looking forward to the next round of updates!

I picked up this kit for $5 a while back, but have yet to build it... I'll definitely keep watchin this thread to see what else ye do, as I really like your scratchbuilding on the sub-parr interior... can't wait to see the rest of this build!

I'm basing my paint scheme on a late 1944 vehicle that was painted primer red at the factory with a overspray of Dunkelgelb and some Olivgrun and Rotbraun sprayed over that for a good  looking camo scheme , imo .

Well ............this will probably open up a can of worms . I researched and with the info i found find it looked like the interior was painted a red primer except for the the area inside the upper side panels and sometimes the gun breach assembly .

Ok , thats my answer and i'm sticking to it .........until convinced other wise .

Was the red primer on the actual vehicles over-painted at the factory or in the field with the exterior color or a different, muted color?

I don't know much about the armored car kit you are building.

i would like to mention I admire your scrounging ability (phone buttons ) and look forward to seeing further posts as you complete the kit.

One question:

Did that open armored car have the interior painted same color as the exterior base paint?
