Tony, have you read this book?  If not you should.  The author was a gunner on Pz IVs and Jagdpanzer IVs.

No I haven't Satch,looks cheap enough,Thanks.Yes

Mike I just so happen to have the Atak Zimm kit that I bought at the same time I got the kit years ago.

It has shrunk and become brittle after all these years(hot water soak didn't help) but I cut it on the narrow chop rows and can fill in the gaps like I did on my Jagdpanther.

I feel so warm and fuzzy inside tonightWink

You know, a sane person would have said, 'Hey, anyone want to do a GB of the entire Jagdpanzer IV line?' Wink

This is awesome, man. I'm going to have a lot of fun watching your progress!

Man, that "Speed Building" class really paid off, huh Tony? Wink You're in top gear, WFO on this ***!

I didn't know that ATAK zimmerit "aged"? Bummer! I'm going to have some surprises in some of my old stash I guess? Still, yours looks great!

Looking good Tony! Nice job on the Atak set.

Karl, all resin will tend to shrink a bit over time...the degree of which depends on how it's stored (temp and humidity), what the mixture components were when it was cast, etc. The zim stuff is prone more to shrinkage because of how thin it is to start with and does tend to get brittle with age...making stretching it with hot water an iffy proposition depending as Tony describes.

Ditto!  Nice work on the resin Zimm... I didn't realize they age over time.  I believe I have couple in stash for Strumtiger and Tiger that has been sitting for two years or so.  Thanks for the warning... Yes

It's amazing what you can get done while doing 16 hour days Mike.ChefShake and Bake

After spending time pin washing the Brummbar I glued the upper and lower hulls of the A-O together. The upper hull is all one piece and was warped and it took three clamps to get her lined up again. Before I remove the clamps I want to be sure the glue is cured real well.

I got the L/70(A) back out and installed the front plate, fenders and built up the engine housing/deck which has 28 parts to complete.

I already milked the cow and closed up the chickens for the day see you later

How about an up-date folks

Casement and the L/70 gun assembled today

The casement is made up of separate keyed panels just like the real thing, nice touch. To get a tight fit I had to file the corners of the male and female keys square.

Unlike the DML A-O, Tristar provides a detailed breech.

It's late so until tomorrow, Night Night

Hey all

The breech is nearly out of sight so it only got a coat of Tamiya White primer and a coat of raw umber wash. The rest of the interior will be just flat black.

It's Friday and all you that have to work for a living have the weekend to Shake and Bake.

Have Fun

Looking real good! Yes

I think you should move your thread to Group Build and name it "Tony's Magic on Jagds" or something like that.  I am really looking forward to see all of this because I know little about those machines despite the fact I have a good reference book somewhere in my house.

Howdy folks

The Tristar hinges were so thin and fragle I made use of the unused ones from the DML A-O kit.

A strip of PE sprue was used for the missing splatter shield at the base of the casement and copper wire to simulate some kind of contraption on the travel lock.

Take care

Construction Alert Step #10

Step #10-1 the exploded view showing the construction of the hangers for the mesh RPG screens shows two parts,G-1 & G-2 but looking ahead a third part never mentioned appears out of no where at step #12 &14B, you'll find it on PE fret #2 as part #4. and is shown in the photo below on the left.

Completed assembly

I wonder if DML and Tristar use the same instruction printersOops
