Ausf,
you will be locked up after this!

a new thread for the finished pieces sounds like a good idea to me.
but i got 4 hours sleep, so i might not know!

here are more pics from my progress.
Airfix turret is a mess.
can't decide if i should try to fix it some more, or only photograph it from flattering angles.
(like from UNDER the table, maybe!)

Yeah Domi,
I think I'm a lock for Mad Tiger Day Abject Stupidity Award. I'm building the remains of the Trial in Tunisia, led by the British Armor branch. They captured a gutted Tiger in a shop and conducted 'fire trials' against the armor. They hit it with all different rounds from all different angles and ranges. It was captured with the transportation tracks so I thought, hey, should be easy, right? RIGHT?

Now I just have to put the superstructure together and add about 90 holes.Tongue [:P]

Great work so far guys! Should I start a new thread for finish pics tonight?

I am currently dead in the water here...

Waiting for glue to dry on the roadwheels. Still have to drill out the hubs and clean 'em up. The tracks are in temporarily to hold the RW in place. It seems when you change the order of the wheels and narrow the tracks, the alignment becomes a problem.Banged Head [banghead]

Ausf, I can't believe you are re-doing all that to your kit!!

Wildwilliam, I hurt for you... That Airfix kit is a nightmare. But I'm glad you're keeping the spirit high!

Monrad, I can't believe you're that far into your build!

Update from me: had to stand in for a face-painting job so I lost most of my day painting snotty kids. I'm back now, need a shower though! Be getting back to the beast soon enough. Do not expect to complete the assignment anymore but I'd like to it the primer stage, and maybe the first coat of desert sand if poss... (yes, Ausf, that is the early Tiger, there!)

Any truth in those accounts of 'pea-green' Tigers in Africa???

Keep building everyone!

WOW!
looks like i better drop a match on mine!

nah, i'm no quitter.
but i'll tell you
1) i take back what i said abt the fit on the 'middle' roadwheels on the Dragon.
i guess if you put the bushings ing, they fit better!!
there will be at least 8 pices still on the sprue when i am done,

2) man, the Airfix turret is fun. NOT!
i am not sure if i have enough gap filling CA to get this
glued together and fill the seams !!

here are some progress pics.
hard to believe i have worked 2 hours today on this!
i will have them in the paint shop soon.

Monrad,
well, i like your paint!

Dave,
looking good. hope you have a quiet shift.

i am sure my neighbors like the Iron Maiden i am playing almost as much as
they were digging my compressor running at 3 am!

Ok here are the last pics before I finish this one. The basic paint job is finished and Im NOT happy with it, had it not been for the time limit I would have repainted it. But there is a time limit so ..... too bad. Now it just needs some weathering, and its done.....oh and markings ofcourse.

6 hours to go and I have to go to work now. Here are my latest progress pics.

Hopefully I will have a quiet shift and compete before midnight. I will only be able to post again in the morning, but I will keep a record on camera with the time stamp showing.

Okay, I've shortened the 'narrowed the tracks, drilled out the horns and ABed them rust.
Now I'm off to attend to the remanufactured roadwheels.
I officially joined the ranks of the clinically insane, hopefully I can finish this before the guys in the whitecoats show up...I'll miss you guys. Who's idea was this anyway?Tongue [:P]

I still have 12 hours and may need every bit...
I changed direction and decided to go with transportation tracks Confused [%-)]. I have cut apart 8 outer roadwheels to get the hubs, changed the order and scratch built outer hubs for the inner wheel group. Glue's drying so I can file and sand, Now I have to 'narrow' the tracks and drill out the horns.
I could have just looked at the box art and would have known how early a version this was but I bought the kit long ago, before this idea came about.

Well. I've bitten off a lot and now I need to go chew...Black Eye [B)]

And you said you only needed 8 hours to do this, you'd wish you hadn't slept for 7 hours first.

No really I hope it will turn out alright for you. The PE zimmerit was a bigger job than I thought it would be, so I have had my share of panic aswell. Now that I have given it the first coat of paint I can see all scratches and gaps that need some filler, but its too late now.

The Gazette! I miss that paper. I remember getting it in the bar after the Habs games with THE game results and interviews!

Great idea on waiting and a new threads guys! Originally I was to collect all finished photos and post them anonymously but that would kill my email. Holding off to a preset time is a excellent solution.

Builds are looking great, I feel like the slacker by sleeping last night. Gotta go!

Good Morning sleepy-heads!

Great looking pics so far. Probably another 6 hours or so before we see a whole herd of Tigers. Actually, since Tigers are solitary animals, I guess it will just be a loose gathering!

6 1/2 down, 17 1/2 to go...All my Zim is done and the lower hull components are lightly clamped and drying. After this break, come the dreaded road wheels. Might need to take a chow break here as well...the two pots of coffee (so far) just aren't filling the void properly.

Until next time...

Now, a sane man who finds himself alone in his house on a Sunday morning would spend the next three hours reading that paper. Well I guess that makes me insane because I'm building a Tiger.Approve [^]

A bit of wash (the model, not me) and I'm off...

7 AM here, and I can't believe how much some guys have done. Anyway here is my starting pic. Once I've done this, I'm going to give the kit an acrylic base coat on the sprues. I still have things to do around the yard today, but I have all afternoon and evening to build. The paint will be dry by then.

It's the Dragon kit, btw. Good luck to all.
