Midday here in Australia. I dragged my carcass out of bed and went and got a paper a little earlier.

I have started my Tiger, too. They sure are little, aren't they? I have already made one gluey fingerprint. There could well be more.

3AM, time for bed. Here is my progress. Should be ready for some paint when I get up.

Until tomorrow

Just noticed the time stamp on my camera is GMT. At the moment we are in British summer time so it is showing 1 hour early. The real time is now 03:09

Ok, so here is the 2 hour report. It has now been 2 hours since I started my build, and things are coming along very nicely. First I painted the tracks with humbrol gunmetal ( no pics, sorry ) and they are now drying.

The turret is assembled, the roof was a poor fit so I had to put some filler in along the edge.

The hull is also assembled, or atleast the major part of it. I have also glued the PE zimmerit to the sides of the hull.

and already the workbench looks likea battlefield.

Very nice array of kits, alot of variety. How come noone is doing a 1/35? Wink [;)]

Ed, I like the zim on that Dragon kit, hopefully they will do that on some of their 1/35.

I am ready to start, here is the first pic. Had to get the wife to hold up the box before she went to bed. Off to the garden workshop now for a couple of hours.

I can have a late one tonight as I am on nights tomorrow and will need a sleep tomorrow day before going in.
Good luck to all players.

Ausf,
not sure what you mean w/ the lower hull.
if you are asking abt zim, it has it on the front & back
but not on the sides where the wheels will go (which makes sense!).
it is styrene like the rest of the pieces, if you meant die cast like metal.

Monrad -
go, man, go!
looks like i better start getting organized.
i am reading my instructions, trying to get a feel for the Dragon 'style'
(i have never built a dragon kit.)
and for the Airfix, i guess i have 4 1/2 hours to find a Humbrol color chart!
:-)

Ed,
Ya just made me gag with the Airfix pic. uughhh.
That DML Zimm does look good...Can't tell if the lower hull is die cast. Is it?

Monrad, that's the first official entry, beautiful!

well, 6 hours to go for me now.
parts are washed and air drying on a towel.
been working on my IV-D to get warmed up.
almost time for my pre build nap.
i was bored, so i took some pics of my stuff on the sprue.
mostly so you all can see the splendor of the new Dragon kit Tongue [:P]
and the terror of the old Airfix kit. [:0]

eek! is that a multipiece hull i see !?!? uh oh!

roadwheels? oh yeah, we got roadwheels!

also a good view of Dragon's Zim.
i am impressed!

notice tools molded to deck -

i expect to have official 'start' pic at midnight,
and build pics, tho i don't know when i will post them.
camera battery is on the charger now. Smile [:)]

You guys really going to crack this thing at midnight?

Right now I'm just waiting for this big black cloud to pass so I can grill some Brats...No worries here. Just anticipation. Gorgeous temp in NY, about 64. Workbench clean. I'm not starting until the AM though, an empty house and the usual sleep deprivation I live mean I'm taking full advantage. I can't see this taking more than 12 hours, so an 8 AM start for me...

Hats off to you guys!

It's the dateline Foster, get's 'em every time... Big Smile [:D] One of the things I both love and hate about travelling across the Pacific. Lose a day going out, gain it back coming in...but usually the day lost is a weekend day and the one gained is a workday! Sad [:(]

Well, I was hoping to see a few "starting line" pictures before I hit the sack, but I'm sure there will plenty tonight. It's 3:00 here in Pensacola and I'll be crashing until midnight shortly.

I've got my unopened kit sitting next to the TV in the hobby room and have already taken one test picture just to see if the TV date and time were clearly visable...they were! Now to get a good 8 hours sleep before I start - I know I'm going to need it!

Enjoy your modeling...
