I finally got some time in at my workbench this weekend. I got the Nebelwerfer assembled, and I thought the Demag was fiddley,Sheesh! The instructions weren't totally clear on a few of the details so I had to go picture hunting. I think I got it. I'm not too sure about the camo yet so I'm going to leave it for a day and have a look at it with a fresh perspective. If it's good then I start into my paint chipping.

Thanks for looking

Ron.

Hey guys

Take a look at this pic. See that empty space on the dashboard? I was so tempted to install a nice CD player in there just to see if anyone would notice. Ya know with the CD sticking half way out.Clown [:o)] The only thing is I have to spend too much time cleaning parts before I can install them.

Thanks Joe

Thanks Comet, looking closer at the instructions I see what you mean. Well nothing like a little change to help you learn.

Hey guys,

I've been able to do alittle work on my Opel Maultier this weekend. It's kinda a slow go at it for I have to clean the mold lines and pin marks off every piece so far. Here's what I got so far.

Here's a couple pics before I close it up:

Hope to get more done soon

Thank you

Well I finally got started on the crusader mkII. Two steps in and I.ve already got a question. Usually I put the road wheels together, paint them and then put them on the model towards the end. The instructions however show putting half the road wheel on, securing it by heating the pin then putting on the second half. Any reason I can't wait as I normally do? Looking at the instructions I don't see any problems but I would hate to be surprised.

I fitted the wheels and tracks on the Mk1 I'm doing and painted everything on the lower hull as once you have the fenders on there's no way you can get the track's on.I usually do the running gear the same way as you described but could'nt see me being able to do it on this build.

Matt, I guess you can forgive the fiancee, after all, she'll become the new "MRS". I saw your photo in the Odds and Ends forum. Congrats again.

Thanks, again... yeah that's a GREAT post over there... really neat idea.  Back to the DUKW...found some good ref pics, also learned a lot about it, since I didn't really know anything about it other than a few operate in Wisconsin for the tourist traps over there.  It's a big kit, and since it's based on the WWII 2 1/2 ton truck, that would make sense.

Well, one month in and I have to switch kits... thanks to an over-ambitious fiancee during her "end of summer cleaning" as I errantly left the TUA box (with my partial kit) out away from my model room.  Suffice it to say, it was tossed (I was out of town and so I had no recourse).  Bleah.  So I was happy to head down to the LHS and see a clearance 1/35 DUKW so I picked it up.  Nothing but three sprues, but I was surprised at the size of the kit.  I will probably throw in some fuel drums, etc in the back end since it's large and empty... but I'm back on it, and not out of town for a while.

I love the M109, great choice for the GB.  I was looking for a 109 when I ran across the 108.  Your build looks very good so far, it will be spectacular when finished.

Hetzer - Final Report: "I'll call it Finished".

I reported last weekend the setback to my Hetzer due to "friendly fire".  I've pieced it back together, attached the antenna and applied decals. After some additional minor weathering I took it outside to take some photos.  Trying to add a bit of scenery to the picture, I got too much scenery on the model, which stuck solid since I had just finished spraying a flat finish on it. I worked pretty hard to get the running wheels looking good, but you'll never be able to tell since they covered up by the scenery.  In any regard Mr Tigerman Sir, I submit this vehicle to the Italeri Group Build battalion, and will await further orders.

I have a couple more Italeri model kits - Elefant and a Jagdpanther, plus I just purchased a 1985 Testors M108 Howitzer (picture below) kit.  I'll be finishing the M18 shortly and move on to a new project.  There's plenty of time to enter another model into this group build I think.  So I may be back in a little bit.  Cheers and thanks to all, and salute Tigerman.

Here's the old 1985 M108 kit.  I think it's a great looking vehicle.

Looking sharp so far Gun Tech. I'm looking forward to your added details.

Joe, as far as I know my Marder III is Italeri all the way. I know of know other big boys that produce one. Though I feel Dragon or Tri-Star will release one someday.

I'm pretty much grounded right now without my AB after the accident. I went to 2 places and they didn't have my needle. This does give me a chance to go over some bad putty areas.

I still need some camo ideas. If anyone as one let me know. I'm having no luck right now.

Durr - That's a really cool idea.  Trace the ancestry of the model.  I don't know how much I'll be able to find out, but it will be a very interesting exercise.

Thanks for sharing your idea,

Heck of a lot of kits there Ron. Are you mostly getting out of cars and moving to the Dark Side?  Evil [}:)]

I'v just started up on Italeri's commando car for the Wheeled Warriors GB.I really like the Jeep varients and this is a good kit to build upto now.I thought seeing as it's an Italeri I'd post some progress pics up in here aswell while I wait to finish the Crusader if thats OKSmile [:)]

Please do. If you can finish more than one kit for the GB, the better for you and us all.
