Italeri Group Build Sept. 1, 2006-Jan. 15 2007

Everybody's work looks fantastic!!! I got a lot of work done on mine. All that's left is the camoflage nets I made. They're drying as I write this, then they have to be painted. One drapes over the box behind the front seats and the other drapes over the NebelWerfer. Here's a couple of shots without the nets. Sometimes I wonder why I camo these things, I usually dirty them up so bad you can't see it anyway.

I'll post pics when I get the nets on.

Thanks Gun Tech and Tigerman. The bed on the Opel is OOB. Living in Florida wood is really out in the elements. I walk my dog every night and pass a lot of wood fences in the neighbor hood. So when I went to do the wood on the bed I knew exactly what it should look like. I painted it nuetral gray sprayed it with future and washed it with black watercolors.

NMT, I'm scouting ebay for the same kit, so far no luck.

Steve, that wood looks real. Did you just use washes on it?

For me, I got a bit of puttying and sanding done, perhaps tomorrow, I will finish the base and major construction. Then I'll need a camo.

OK here are some progress pics. This is the Italeri 7.5cm Howitzer. A small kit but with lots of extras (flash, sink marks and fit problems...).

The lighting may have affected the pics as the colors did not come out well.

I am now working on the figures that came with the kit.

  Ok I realize every one is probably watching football so I will wait til later for your replies. But being I live in Tampa there is not much in the way of football to watch here. So anyway I am posting some progress pics of my Opel Maultier. I thought I would have it done today but my wife had other thoughts. I still have a ways to go to finish.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know I'm still building on my Opel. I just have a couple of things to do and the Opel should be done tomorrow. But the FLAK 38 is a different story. I was going to start on it tonight. First thing is to cut out the gun itself. So I cut it out, cleaned it of mold lines and pin marks. Next put the tip on the barrel. Where's the barrel! Then I look and it's suppose to be molded with the gun. Not there! Of all things the barrel. It's a gun for crying out loud.  I went back and looked at the pics I posted in this GB when I first got the kit, and sure enough it's not there.Well I will just have to find something to substitute it. I will have to drill out the gun to accept the new barrel, but thats modelling. Funny thing though I wonder where it went. I don't think I ever got though because I opened it and took pictures for this GB as I opened it.

CDNTanker25, no offense taken. I painted it uniformly grey as a personal whim, and because I have zero weathering skills. I suppose I could have painted it flat sand or something more appropriate, but again I view it as a sculpture more than a detailed and correct representation of a 1:1 Merkava.

And... I weighted it down with some lead fishing weights to give it some heft and it serves as a great paperweight on my desk, albeit a delicate one.

Okay, here are some in progress shots. Still have a looong way to go yet. Surprisingly it has been a real pleasure building it.

Well, here's 3 pix of my Italeri1/71 Merkava Mk.I. Box stock. I am interested in the sculptural form of the thing, so a simple flat gray primer paint job, no decals. I did some olive drab details and blackened the grilles, but that's it. I think the 1:1 MBT is one of the best looking ever.

Great looking build Matt. Coming along real good.

Well, I'm drowning my sorrows for the Minnesota Twins in a bottle of Olive Drab tonight, boys...

Base coat on the DUKW, just placing odds 'n ends for photo purposes for now...

Sorry I havent loaded the pics yet ive been real busy what with homework and marching band. I have a 3 day weekend so I should get some more done. Ill try to get those pics up.

well guys im gonna call it a rap on this one it was a fun build, i have more italeri kits and im sure i will have time for another before the end date and i will definatly be keeping an eye on this topic and everyones progress. great job all and keep it up.

Thursday night update....

Just a little progress, mainly spraying the undercoat... pre-shading for tomorrow and painting over the weekend.

Here's my semi-scratchbuilt M36 .50cal ring mount... looks rough now, but should be ok after priming and painting...

Comet, your Crusader looks great! I hope mine comes out as well as yours. Which needless to say is still in progress. I'll get some wip pics in this weekend.
