I know the rules are must be a new start, or barely started.  I sat down for three days in a row now and worked on this beast for about 9 hrs. per day.  I am behind on a deadline and there was alot of scratch building involved.  Since I just started up, now, all I have are the pre paint pics.  Anyway,  a little history, this is an IDF Doher, which was used during this summer's conflict with Lebannon...  It is the Italeri M109 kit with Azimut/best value models resin conversion.  The turret is resin, the tracks are AFV club tracks.  I scratch built the antislip bars on the front of the hull...  If you can see the figures, it's a CMK IDF tanker.  Hope you like it...

now it's primed with Mr. Surfacer 1000...

Tman, I guess I didn't join up on this one eh? Can I do it with my Italeri M109 converted into M109 Doher? I worked on it all weekend since I had a few days off. It's a commission build, but I thought I'd try to join up since it is an Italeri model, which I just realized LOL. It came in Best Value models box, but ya know... let me know if it's cool!

Hey Comet,

Just to be safe I leave mine on for a week for a wash. I use an enamel and thinner wash though. The main reason I give mine a week is because I usually can't do much modeling during the week so I spray it Sunday night and let it set all week. If you're are using an acrylic and water wash it should be cured enough in a couple days. It also depends on the heat and humidity. I spray out in my garage then bring it back into the house and put a box of some kind over it so it will not collect dust. Hope this helps you.

Cheers Zip Big Smile [:D]

I'll have to put the Crusader out of my sight for a week then so I dont get the urge to put some washes on it.

You can't post your photos directly into a forum post.  You have to have them hosted on an online web hosting website such as photobucket.

  1. Go to www.photobucket.com
  2. Set up an account (they're free)
  3. Upload your photos to photobucket
  4. Copy the 3rd link that they provide you after your photo us uploaded
  5. Paste it the link into your forum post

and voila, your pictures will show up in your posts. Smile [:)]

Some wonderful progress from everyone. My truck is built, and the basecoat is on. I'll see if I can snap a few pics this weekend, along with another project I just finished.

Hetzer Update - Damage Report

Well, I had a little setback this weekend.  The Hetzer, as well as my M18 took a tumble during a domestic "accident" Shock [:O].  The M18 received minor damage, only a few dents and broken parts.  The Hetzer upper hull took it on the chin.- quite a few broken and damaged parts.  Since I have a trip to LA this week, there'll be very little time for me to make up the lost ground.  Looking forward to the weekend to finish repairs.

Well dispite the pain I just worked for the past hour and made some progress. I put together one of the missile racks on the inside. I promise to try to get some pics tomorrow. I don't have Marching Band practice so I have about 3 and 1/2 hrs before Lacrosse weight lifting so I should get some pics up.

By the way great lookng builds everybody.

Nice to see Ron and Glyn making such great headway. Super camo Ron.

Well disaster #2. I bent the needle on my AB. How bad? It doesn't look too bad to the eye, but it's bent. How it will spray? I don't know. I might have to step out the LHS on Monday and see if I can replace it.

Some really nice build upto now guy's,I'm really liking that HetzerBig Smile [:D]

I'v just laid some paint on the Crusader, was going to go for the 3 tone job but chickened out as the masking would be a nightmere as there's so many nook's and cranny's on this tank and it's all straight line not blended.Gone for the all over dark yellow instead and plan to follow this up with some heavy wear and weathering as upto now most of my builds have only been lightly weathered.
All in all I'v really enjoyed building this kit.

Will post some better pics up once I'v tackled all the weathering.

that looks great eric i still intend to grab one of these of ebay it certainly looks the part to me and is more than worthy, lots progress from everyone in this build, Durr pz turned out looking nice from what i can see would like to see more, plastic cross nothing wrong with a bit of grunge heh hetzer looks nice

i have made some progress but didnt have my camera for a week but here is where i am at so far,

i came across a set of zim made from paper for a $1.50 and i was really curious so decided i would try the stuff just for the heck of it seeing as i concider each build just a practice for the next one heh anyway deciding this kit aint goin to be the most acurate what the hey i thought ill try playing with the camo and have fun with it, basic paint job is on and now its time to get the details and weathering started. there are a number of things ihave to fix yet but i will as i go.

this pics shows with the first of many washes

and this one with a bit of chipping and scarring, it looks stark at the moment but the later washes will tone it down.

Thanks Gun-Tech. It's a nice kit with little putty on the hull, but other parts......Evil [}:)]

As for the return roller.......I gave it to a friend who's going to ask a friend if he can cast it for me. Crossing fingers. They are quite poor compared to the Tamiya kits. The real PO'er here, is you know that Dragon is going to put a new Marder III with all the bells and whistles once they release their Pz 38t. Wah!

Still, the purpose of this GB in my book, is to respect Italeri kits, because they do build up to nice displays without a million pieces. As for putty........hahaha, that keeps other companies in business. LOL

Here's a couple of progress photos. I got a bit carried away with the AB. Good thing too, I found out what a horrible puttying and sanding job I did. I'll have to fix things up. Of course, the shields weren't applied for the photo's, but wanted to give you an idea of why I figured it would be easier to paint the gun and the inside seperately.

Hey, people are getting it on now! I'm going to spray the gun and inside today.

Larry, it does look like your camo got a bit lost in your weathering. I'd apply some drybrushing and that will help and break it up a bit and make some things pop.

Keep at em guys, I know tomorrow and Sunday are football days, so much won't get done.  Big Smile [:D]

Talk about building slow, I have not even started on the crusader yet! I think I opened the box to look it over but that's about it. Glad we have til Jan. to finish it. BTW is there a consolation for being the last to finish because I think I might be that person.

Still working on my hummel, if I can get my camera to take some decent pics then I'll post it for some comments.

Know what you mean. I was going to start my build a couple weekends ago but evertime I walk by the bench I see three builds just sitting there not finished. So I told myself before I start another I will finish them. I did finish my Zero, and this weekend I will finish my P 262C and I really hope to finish my pop's B-25. They are both so close to being done. Oh ya and I got a KV-1 going too. If I stick to my plans I will get going on this build in about two weeks...Guilt free!Laugh [(-D]

Well, I'm at work, and actually have some progress to report on the LAV.

First few steps are completed, all the underside is finished, lots of filler needed for the shock absorbers on the back half of the kit...

Also, closed in the compartments with plastic stock, sidewalls, back and front half of the interior, not going to scratchbuild, but will airbrush the interior dark to give an illusion of depth.

Will post some pics later tonight... looking to pick up a P/E kit for it at the NORDICON show here tomorrow... Thumbs Up [tup]

PC, the Hetz looks really slick... a dirty tank is a winning tank in my opinion...
