Dang!!! Sorry, I just had too much going on during the week to not wash my hand. If I'd thought of it, I'd have put my hand in a zip lock bag right after the Sherman King dropped me off, then had it bronzed when I got back. Sorry.

If any of you get the chance, definately spend some time with Robert. He's a great guy!

Frosty...Way to go for your Mom. As the father of two teenage boys, I can tell you, she's got the right! And I applaud you for having the courage and conviction to do as she wishes. Way to go to you too!

Eric, now you know why I haven't had any postings about the tiger this last week. (It was worth it!!)

Build on...

Hi Frosty. I totally understand about the picture. I have a little 7 year old princess of terror. Evil [}:)] I can tell you I will be one father who will be at the door with shotgun in hand waiting for her to get home when she is a teenager. She will also have her own phone-line. The poor sap who dates her will have to answer to her mother. [:0]Evil [}:)].

Welcome back Bill. You can't see me, but I'm bowing to you as gesture of respect for meeting the mighty Shermanfreak in the flesh. Approve [^] I hope you didn't wash your hands. Glad you guys had a good time.

Wow! Second hundred didn't take nearly as long as the first!!

Okay, I'm back. Who wants a piece of me first??? Big Smile [:D]

I told Robert not to post that pic. Now look where it's gotten us. This is one of the hottest topics out here at the moment! And it's in the Armor section, after all. Guess that's because we've all got such tough hides from emulating our model projects! Big Smile [:D]

Robert got one thing wrong...I got back last night (it was after 7pm, so it was after my poor, old, toddering bed time!) and I didn't have a chance to look at the posts until today. I started going over them at home before work and was about falling off my chair (wheel chair, that is). My kids (and believe it or not, they run 15, 13, 11, and 7) wanted to know what was so funny. As opposed to so many things you see on the internet these days, I was actually able to tell them and read some to them!

To all of you non-follically impared folk out there, if you could see a highschool picture of me (yes, they had cameras back then...Who said that??), you'd see that a full head as a young buck don't mean nothing in the later years!! But to be honest, my hair line hasn't changed much for a few years. It was about the same in my early 30's (yes, I can remember that far back...Who keeps saying these things??? I'm gonna start taking names...!)

Seriously, it was great to meet Robert. And for all you guys and gals out there wondering, he is just as cordial and as much a gentleman as he appears in these forums. And he aint lookin' up stuff in his ref books when he tells you something. He's got it all down. And not just about Shermans. He was spotting Challengers, and Lynx's, and stuff litterally blocks away from where we were. (Dare I tell them, Robert, about the German (yes, I said GERMAN) WWII artillery piece you spotted down the street before I even saw the barrel?? He is an amazing man...and friend.

btw, Robert, I think I found the hobby shop you were looking for, 104th Street between 70 and 80th on the east side!!

One very glaring similarity (that MUST be related to working with those little, bitzy parts) is that we both ware glasses. Speaking for myself, I couldn't find a backlit door from inside a dark barn without mine!!

I saw a comment about feeling 10 years older as soon as your kids are born. For me, it was the opposite...I felt 10 years younger. My 4 boys keep me going, and my life without them would be much less. Bless all of you parents out there for giving all that I know you must to your kids.

And Moses (you young pup!) I'm glad you didn't let anybody know your baby's sex. I mean how would it be if you'd let on that you were going to have a girl to all these treadheads!! LOL Congratulations. And we'll all expect pictures here on the forum!

And Eric, I agree. While I wasn't a #1 fan of Dale Sr. (probably a #2 level), it's just not the same without him out there "Intimidating" (capitalization intended!). I'm just now getting back into where I can sit through a whole race.

Thanks to all of you (I think) for your comments and caring...Wait, I must have been reading a different thread about someone else!

That's ok Frosty .... fully understand your Mom's concerns.

So post a pic of her and we'll have her stuck in an armoured vehicle before you know it.

first, i have to say that i'm not sure which series of posts had me laughing harder, this thread or the "Leopold affair"...(lose the caffeine, dude! altho i certainly did gain some info on that one...)
as for photos of me, don't even think about it !
my internet/computer privileges r history if i ever post photos or personal info on the 'net (mom's "conditions of usage"), and i promised i wouldn't do anything like that anyhow.
me, i'll be happy if i ever get to post a pic of one of my models,
but seeing all u guys is pretty cool !
Moses, i like ur wife's dress too...good luck with the baby!
frosty Smile [:)]
and thanks for the info about the "having chest hair first " thing, i was starting to worry about being the only bald girl in my class...and the mr. clean look doesn't go too well with the school uniform of grey pleated skirt, white blouse and blue blazer ! ah, parochial school daze...Blush [:I]

Just a youngin' .... good to see ya Smith M.

Now if I have this part of the hair / modelling armour thing correct. Part one is you have to be able to grow hair on your chin before this all comes into play. So you've got a little while before you have to worry about a trail of loose hair folicles following you around.

SF, Erush & Erock,

Now that's hysterical !

Renarts, - see what happens when you reach out and expose just a little of your intellectual and creative side.

You guys can rest assured, I'll never put my picture up here. ( that and the witness relocation program doesn't allow me to do it)

Peter - No offence taken. Funny thing is, I have determined through exhaustive testing and research, that it is actually easier for short round people to get in and out through the hatches of a tank than it is for a person who is over 5'11".
Of course after doing the field testing, I compiled the data at a table at my local all-you-can-eat Chinese Buffet.

Nice to put a face to a tag guys- didn't realise so many of us were of "indeterminate age"[:0].

Don't worry about children eating into your modelling time.....Worry about them when they become teenagers and either eat into into your kit buying funds or just nag you to let them have that special kit you've been holding onto for just the right momentBig Smile [:D]

By the way, kids are the fastest way to lose your hair...not modelling armour. Trust me, I have a 15 year old, 14 year old and 3 year old. All boys though, so no need to buy a shotgon for intimidating prospective boyfriendsTongue [:P]

No offence Sherm, but guys, if they moulded Robert in 1/35th scale, do you think the belly would fit in the tiger turret anywayBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] (I'm not exactly wisp thin either shermTongue [:P])

Sherm,

Yep, I'm a NASCAR fan. It doesn't seem the same without Dale Earnhardt though. I was a fan of his, when he won his first Championship. I go to 2 races a year: Michigan in June and Bristol in August.

Tiger,

I have two other children (stepchildren really) Stephanie who is 11 and Adam who is 14 (and is discovering that girls aren't yucky anymore Wink [;)] )

Tigerman, I played a little ball in highschool but I was actually 5'8" 130lbs when I graduated Tongue [:P] Now I'm 5'11" and around 225-230 Tongue [:P] Big Smile [:D] Don't worry though, I can take a civil discussion wether it's in agreement or not so don't worry about me trackin ya down Big Smile [:D] Big Smile [:D] Tongue [:P] I don't have any kids...yet? That's still to be determined at a future date. I think that's why my hair's not gray yet Wink [;)]

Moses, 3 day's after your child is born you will feel 10 years older than you do now, Big Smile [:D] but it's worth it. I've got 10 nieces and nephews, 2 grandnieces (twins and cuter than a speckeled puppy) and have had step kids in my previous marrige so I've had plenty of dealings with them.

Moses,
don't sweat 30. with any luck, you'll get a lot older than that. after all, there is only one thing known that halts the aging process! and i have too many kits i need to build first. :-)

i am 37 in a month, receding, greying, and not caring a bit.
as my grandpa (87) says - "It's a good life if you don't weaken."
:-)

i just can't figure out:
is our hair falling out, or do these kits make us pull it out?
:-)

Yeah, its my 1:1 scratchbuild, took a few days to make :P

August, 2003 in Frederick Maryland there was an airshow (private, non military sponsored) and mostly warbirds! I have gazillions of pics from different shows from each year (different aircraft fly in).

That P-38 is one of the very rare P-38's still flying. It is one of my favorites and I FINALLY got to see one :) I posted in the aircraft forum in august, here's the post http://www.finescale.com/fsm/community/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6462
