You were saying something about MY figure being weathered after 3 weeks ... should I even begin!?! .... 4 years!?! That's like sending your kid off to military school .... I'm surprised you recognized the damn thing! LOL!!!!!

But seriously, that woodland looks great! Just finish it. You're almost 1/2 way done anyway!?! Heck!, I bet you can finish that one before psst finally gets done powdering his! HAHAHA!!!

Hey .... where is he BTW!?!

your figs sat around for 3 weeks...they should be plenty dusty...lol. well, 1/35 is certainly more managable. i've been toying with taking out of the box one of my previous 1/16 builds that i started oh lets see now ummmm.....3-4 years ago something like that. Confused [%-)]. its the dragon delta force guy. i was painting him in woodland camo. have the gear and the upper torso done...then for some reason i put it in the box and left it for all this time. here's a couple of pics of the unfinished fig!

this second is blurry...but whatever! Laugh [(-D]

You and me both buddy ... I toying around with building up just one of the figures that I cast just to see how to comes out. I think that if I get done with one of them, I might be in the mood to finish the rest.

However, I've pretty much decided that I'm not going to light this one up. I think that the correct way to do this one IS going to be using a shadow box and I'm not about to do one this large. So, this idea is still on the table, but it's going to be with 1/35 figures ... not 1/12!

This project ... with four 1/12 figures .... just might be the one that I carry back over on my next "vacation". I've found that I can build what I want to and then if I want to weather it ... I just let it sit around for a few days! Nice and dusty!!! And perfectly weathered to boot!!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

But, first things first ... I've got to get my SF figure out the door. So, I'm going to be concentrating on that one this week.

hehe...sounds like you've been bitten by the same bug as me model!! so i completely understand what ya mean. i keep trying to get my molds right....having issues there...cant find any figs that i dont already have that i dont have to spend $$$ on that are in some sort of action pose. i dont know model you tell me...did all you guys just stand around during the war???? dont know how hard it is to make figures but judging by the poses you'd think that's all anyone ever does. for every one guy they make "shooting" some type of weapon they make 10 others just in some lame *** pose!!! i'm not like you either, while i can frankenstein my figures...i just choose not to...shouldnt have to in my opinion....whatever though. good luck on that bite buddy...not sure what the cure is!! Sigh [sigh]

I think what's got me down is that I'm really still in the "thinking" phase on this one since it's got all this FO crap going on. I really don't like spending more than a week or two planning a build up before I start in on it .... and this one has been going on for HOW LONG now!?!

I may continue this one as a regular build .... w/o all the lighting though. However, once it's built, that's it. No adding lights .... so I'm going to put it away for a little while until I know that's what I want to do.

I've got an F-117 in the shelf that I know I'm going to light up. That one may very well take care of the "lighting" bug that I've got.

I got it! Get a bunch of your 1/16 guys and have them checking out the giant 1/12 scale bronze statue of an SF soldier!! Big Smile [:D]

Laugh [(-D] sorry, I got no idea. I guess for now that cardboard box labeled "retarded project" will hafta work for now.

Sooooo ...... I'm thinking of shutting this build down. Since coming back, I've trying to jump on it again and I'm just not feeling it. It's not that it's too difficult or impossible, but it doesn't make sense to me anymore. It's too .... over the top. I mean ... after it's completed, I'm going to end up with this HUGE .... thing!?! (and that's IF it doesn't turn into a shadow box!)

I've already started packing most of the parts and things into a box, so that maybe one day I'll be retarded enough to pull it back out again. I've also got the resin pieces that I cast from the original molds. I may try to put something together from that.

Seems like a lousy way to end this one ... got any suggestions!?! I'm all ears ...

Oh! Well that was a quick turn around- hey, if you like the ICM fig. better, maybe tweek the ARPAT to your likeing and add him to the bunch, I know there was one point where they were mixing the uniforms in randomly back in the '05ish time period? Maybe wait till model gets back, not sure if it was by unit or if it was just new recruts rotating into the field?

No bs, you've been out of the hobby for a while. The old figure was old, I can never get two sets of figures to turn out the same if there’s a big gap in between the times I paint them.

Oh! Well that's why he looks all blown over, makes more sense now- I think it was because I couldn’t tell what part of him was touching the ground b/c of the way you were holding him, couldn’t tell if he was running or what- I think it could be cool if you can pull it off.

dont b.s. me p.o. its ok. lol. if they're bad so be it. i know they're not even close to my other oif guys...but like i said...my mind just isnt in it like it should be. i think when i get back from iowa and can calm my mind back down to a sense of normalcy i can do better. i've done better i know that. i just cant explain it other than some burnout and my other issues. however, i know model will be back soon and you guys can go at it while i "take a brief brake". Sad [:(]

as for the whole second guy thing, i know it doesnt look like it from the pose im holding him at but he's actually taking one in the body (bullet that is). however, i never really liked it blah blah blah...alright dude, gonna go watch some red wing hockey!! Thumbs Up [tup]

Not bad! The pics are huge and zoomed in a little close up, but other than that, (as I try to mentally zoom back out to normal size lol) I'd say they're both very well done. The only thing about the second figure I dont like- his pose looks super frantic and with the casual reloading going on by figure number 1, one of the two doesnt look the part. I like the post of the first one better, so I'd agree, if one had to get switched out, I'd drop the second figure. But only on a story telling basis, astetically they both look awesome!! (sorry- quick post in the library g2g now spell check this time Black Eye [B)])

Sign - Dots [#dots]

not sure i want to even use this guy anymore...may change it!

Sigh [sigh]. actually gave the hobby up after i got married and figured i'd never do it again....LOL....go figure!! i dont think they came out bad but i'll let you be the judge! these new ones that is!

Oh yeah I know what you're talking about when it comes to being in the mood to work on painting. The same goes for me with armor models and wheels. Or any kind of dealings with clear parts... those drive me crazy.
Thanks for the wishes on my future ARPAT work. I wish you the best of luck on your interview. Iowa doesn't sound all that bad I suppose.

well p.o., i've got a job interview in desmoine iowa next week....Sign - Dots [#dots], yeah, go figure. that ought to be interesting. i havent traveled in nearly 15 years (any great distances). we'll see how that goes.

anyway, just wanted to mention that because at this point im not sure if i'll ever get this damn thing done...LOL. i'm slowly painting the figures (the ones i have made). i will post some pics of the 2 i have nearly done in a day or 2. i dont know about you but i have to be in the mood 2 paint them (and paint them decently) and lately...i've just not been in the mood! Confused [%-)] but i'll get it one way or another. i've just given up for now until i can really spend some more time with it the whole arpat thing. i wish ya luck on it when you actually try it in 1/35 scale. anyway, some minor updates are coming soon!! hahah yeah... no maybe not. Nothing wrong with going 3 color- you already have the mix down for that greenish tan. lol I’d love to see some pictures of the abomination though, just because I’ve yet to try digital in 1/35 and I’m wondering how I should expect it to turn out... Sigh [sigh]

anyway, 'nuff of that stuff. i practiced with painting the arpat...let's just say it looks easier than done. some parts i like other's well, its an abomination...mostly an abomination!!! Grumpy [|(] so unless i really really make an effort (i just dont feel i have the time) i'll probably stick with the 3 color!!! pink!! no, no pink. could always make a gay soldier with a pink arpat...instead of pixels...they could be rainbows...LOL. Hey- thats ok, sorry that you felt the pressure and it rushed you into a slight paint problem. Wouldn’t want you short changing the figures after such an awesome base you got to put them on. That sounds like a good idea as far as the ARPAT goes, can’t wait to see it, but if it’s not tomorrow or the next day- no rush here you know? I’d rather you focus on your job hunt tomorrow! I’m sorry about the econ.- but I’m glad you’re getting a chance to try and get back into the game! Let us know how it goes by Tuesday if they don’t have you too busy by then Thumbs Up [tup] lol can’t wait to see the pink orange and gray green Army man!! Laugh [(-D]

yeah i suppose so. well, i didnt have my figs done by this weekend p.o. didnt let the paint i put on the flesh dry long enough so i had to "redo" it. no big deal...was just starting to feel rushed and pressured buddy!! Laugh [(-D] the good thing is i was messing with one of those really poor quality oif figs from i.c.m. or one of those bad company's. gonna practice by painting the arpat pattern base on that post. i have a gray green paint that looks too green i think on the fig but im gonna keep it and maybe give it a gray glaze to tone it done a little. i guess though it dont matter if its green or gray or brown or orange (since its practice)!! if he comes out even half way decent i'll post him p.o.! maybe sometime 2-morrow...but i have to go early in the a.m. to see about a job!!! this econ. sux man!!
