i dont know what im gonna do once im done p.o. im not giving this up but i feel like i've ignored my better half for awhile and i need to spend more time with her and my marriage. again, not giving up the hobby but i need to "withdraw" for awhile. kinda reset my priorities and get myself back to feeling like a functional human again... Laugh [(-D].

No more dios for a while! Shock [:O] Well you better keep posting updates of your armor WIP in that forum. As for the curbs- that’s awesome! Always a fan of the military channel, it’s like watching reference pictures on TV instead of googling around for hours.

3 together, 2 primed, I’d say 2 or 4 more, just to keep the figures on the dio in an odd count. Less likely to have people subconsciously break them down into pairs or something, groups them more naturally... or so I’ve heard lol

Again, probably some Shep Paine rule- just do what looks good Smile [:)]

yeah, the one was just a stand in to the original idea of the build. so i have 3 together, 2 primed. havent decided on how many but i need at least 2-3-4 more. my molds have come out ok, other's great...gonna have 2 redo a few but...that's the least of my worries! i tell ya after this...no more large builds and perhaps no more dio's for awhile!! yeah ok, let's move on.
Laugh [(-D]Quickly! Ahh the memories!

But yeah, that sounds great! 2 primed and ready, out of how many? And I know you had that one finished right? Or was that an old stand in. It’s coming together, don’t worry, the last few steps of a project are really the hardest and the longest for me, so I know the feeling, it’s almost like busy work. The details make the scene but can really be a PITA sometimes.

Laugh [(-D] i mean it just melted away like butter on toast!!! Dunce [D)] ahhhhh...goood times!!

Hey!! At least you can tell the spec ops are American and the enemy is Russian- very nice Cold War piece. A few things one could pick at- but we all know how nice yours look now, so I'll say nice starting point!

So! My first dio (no pictures- never took any- thank god) had- get this set up. A T-62A and a WWII Russian “Jeep” vs an M3 Half Track and a Walker Bulldog.

Grass? Ground? Nah- Spray paint over plaster mesh, a few HO scale trees... gravel, didn’t paint anything, except the skin tones (real heavy) and some silver scratches over anything metal...

Cold War meets WWII and uhh... yeah I’ll end with that Blush [:I] I was a kid, my dad was into Model Railroads, it was a strange mix... haha

I still cannot see any photos.

Probably because they are blocked on my gov computer here at my duty station.

Will attach photos of a recent street projec,t you can see the buildings along side it.

Let me know if you can see or not.

If not I can email them to you.

ya know every time i try to get into it, my wife is either home or my daughter comes over or something like that. not that i mind (i dont) i just need some time to get this thing done and move on. i want to have it done or damn close when model gets back. just in that i figure 3 weeks is more than enough time p.o.! trying though to get my molds done so i can cast some body armor and such. the first couple i did looked great...just that i'd have to alter the lower half of the figure to fit it and i didnt realize that b4 i made the mold. whatever, it'll work. i'm hoping to have at least the figures build by next weekend...but if i seriously make some effort it shouldnt take that long.

absolutely, would love some pics of real buildings/streets etc. its even funny u mention wiring. if you read the pages you will see that modelchasm was trying to get me to put wiring on my building dio. (to no avail....LOL). i do have some outside wiring on my building.  but non the less, send those pics or post a few on this page would be great. even though my building is already built i could always use more...hell i bet psstoff995 and modelchasm could use the pics as well. thanks. my build (dio) should be done b4 he get back in 3 weeks...look 4 it in the dio forum.

Ok I see.

If you need any pictures of real streets in Mosul or buildings to help out your projects, I have tons. We have several road projects and the QA pictures of before during and after are pretty interesting. I would be interested to see if your dio's include the poor wiring and construction as a touch of realism.

This has given me an idea of doing one on my own to show a before and after project. We have been relying on pictures, but I think our CG and even the press would get a better idea if they saw it in 3D.

No opsec violations as the projects are complete and we have moved on to others.

mao, this is kindof a mix of projects. the guy who started this thread, (modelchasm) if you throught the pages you will see some of his work with the figures but he is still very much "working on this project". he's out in the field right now for 3 weeks with us army so he wont be working on it until he returns. i've got posted my build in all the pages as well of an iraqi building/street dio. scene im working on. my work and models can be seen starting on page one and ending currently on page 11 i believe. if ya want to see a finished figure of models check out his "FLASH OUT" THREAD posted in this forum....he did a fantastic job.

Where can I find photos of this build? The military I work with want to see how authentic it looks, compared to how it really looks here in Mosul.

Cant wait to see this, how can I?

ya know im sure it would work on the sprue...i've been using sprues from my kits for the "pouring sprue" (not o.o.b.) but im sure it would still be ok. only thing that might b and issue is the crimped end where the plastic part is formed off of the sprue...might b 2 small for the resin to enter. i cut mine to size so that isnt an issue.

Yeah, that sounds like the tricky part- do you know if it would be a good idea to try and get a couple pieces done while they're still on the sprue OOB? Or would that matter?

yeah, you know how it is p.o. ya look at it and it looks really intimidating...but if ya charge right in and get your hands dirty...no big deal...just have to learn when and where to place air vent tubing...LOL.

yeah, the castings should go fine. never really had too much trouble with them. and as far as learning...piece of cake. i learned how 2 do it by reading it once then doing...that's it. had some really really good results too. so it should take ya anytime to learn...just can cost ya alot of $$$ so be prepared. (ebay...good place). Propeller [8-]

what exactly is a peq-4? sounds like a weapon but not sure?!?!

It's the little rectangular IR laser aiming devise thinger that’s mounted to the Picatinny rails on the handguard. I think it’s a little higher tech than that because it’s huge compared to a reagular laser... It can probably blink and do all kindsa fun stuff. Actually- here ya go! It’s on Wiki

That’s a PEQ-2 dunno bout the 4... probably just a different model name for the same basic thing. From what I can tell, it’s two lasers, one like an IR flashlight, the other like a high power beam to aim...

Let me know how your casting goes! Always wanted to get into that, now that I picked up some nice OOP Dragon figures I'm going to have to learn
