If you mean the MechWarrior PC game series, that would be under BattleTech, the miniatures of which are produced by Iron Wind Metals.

I believe this is the Mad Cat Mk.II you may be referring to.

If you're thinking of the Mad Cat II "clicky toy," that would be MechWarrior: Dark Age made by Wizkids.

And to REALLY drive you batty, Armorcast had previously produced the Mad Cat and Vulture in 1/60th scale resin kits. They stood about 8 inches tall.

Wow, check THOSE out! Can't believe how expensive those kits are, or I'd be all over those 8" tall resin guys...especially that Vulture. Didn't think that the metal gaming miniatures were still available either - have tons of those still in a toolbox from my Battletech days.

Any of you guys play (or played)?

Battletech got in to trouble of for copy right of some of their most popoular mech. here is a list
with there battletech name and orginal show name.

http://brianscache.com/unseen/
Battletech name Wasp   Macross Name - VF-1S  Revell Robotech Defenders (Vexar)
Battletech name Griffin  Dougram  Name - H8 Roundfacer  Revell Robotech Defenders (Thoren)
Battletech name Rifleman  Macross Name - Defender Robotech, Exo Squad  (Raidar X)
Battletech name Archer  Macross Name -  Spartan Robotech, Exo Squad  (Gladiator) The name Spartan is used for the Longbow / Phalanx as well.
Battletech name Warhammer  Macross Name - Tomahawk Robotech, Exo Squad  (Excaliber Mk VI)
Battletech name Marauder  Macross Name - Glaug Officer's Tactical Pod Robotech, Exo Squad  (Glaug Pod),

Theses are one I know they have made models of.  I would love to get a Rifleman but they are getting rare there for expensive.

I guess that's why I thought that they were discontinued - we were really playing a lot right when that whole "copyright infringement" thing happened.

I have almost ALL of those on the "banned" list...rifleman, warhammer, archer, marauder. Good times! I wonder if I have a pic of any of those figs somewhere. Have to look.

If you want some of those unseen mechs from your days of fun, you may try looking for the kits that the mechs were based on. bandai made a crapload of macross (thats Robotech for all you that dont follow anime) kits that vary from 1/100 to 1/48. should be able to find them if you look hard enough.

Do you think I should tell zackesch that not only do I have both Armorcast resin kits, but the museum scale Atlas, Mad Cat and Vulture from Ral Partha, the MechWarrior 4 Mad Cat promo, and all of the Clan 'Mechs (with the exception of the IIC variants) from IWM as well? Or should I just be cruel and post photos of them all, and listen to his lamentations with perked ears?Evil [}:)]

Many of the miniatures are being rereleased, including new sculpts of the 16 unseen mechs from the original battletech game. The game is alive and still pumping out figures.

A friend of mine from high school, whom I hadn't seen in 20 years, has the 1/35th scale Horizon Mad Cat vinyl kit, and may be passing it to my collection, in unbuilt form.

Okay, Puma, I can hear you drooling all the way over here. Laugh [(-D]

If anyone's interested in plastic kits of the "unseen" BT mechs in a size closer to mini use, the 1:200 scale Macross line was made by Nichimo.  This covers the old Wasp, Stinger, Phoenix Hawk, Warhammer, Spartan, Rifleman, Crusader, and Marauder designs.  Many of these were also repackaged and sold by Testors in their "R.O.B.O.T." series of kits.  The old Locust is available in a small-scale kit from the series Crusher Joe ( I forget the manufacturer and scale given ).  The 1:144 scale Dougram series is bigger than the Nichimos but may be useful if you can find them and cover the Battlemaster, Wolverine, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, and Griffin designs from BT.

No, I didn't get my first BT box set back in 1985 or anything Whistling [:-^]

It's a shame that Harmony Gold pooched things by selling rights to FASA when they weren't in any position to rightfully do so.  At least it helped with FASA's art; no more "tracing" the 2 dozen or so pics they had access to from Tatsunoko.

Oh man, that's my biggest frustration w/ sci-fi modeling right now. I want to build a bunch of those old Crusher Joe kits (especially the fighters that FASA used for Aerotech), and some of those Robotech/Dougram kits like the Tequilla Gunner, but nobody can re-pop them.

I forgot about the fighters!  I think the main one I know of from Crusher Joe was called the "Corsair" in BT.  I've only seen small-scale kits of it on evilbay occasionally, but there's no way I'm paying the $50-$80 they ask for that kit that's about 5 inches long!

OK, maybe if I win the lottery...

I know, right? $80 plus shipping, and as an 80's vintage kit, you just know it's gonna take a lot of work to make it look good. Just not worth it.

More Grrrr! SoapBox [soapbox]

Don't forget the Destroid Monster from the Macross series.  I found one in 1/160 at a model contest.  They also made one in 1/200, I believe.

That is correct. The larger kit was made by Arii and the smaller by Imai. I have both unbuilt - my understanding is that the smaller one is better shaped/proportioned. Plentiful in the 80's (when I got mine), both are exceedingly difficult and expensive to get hold of now.

I believe there have been larger scale resin versions as well.
