It would be Durasteel.

Star Wars expanded universe books use Durasteel and Duraplast for construction.

Might want to look at the studio models of the Speeder, Y-Wing, M Falcon and others for inspiration in doing the damage.

This is true, last night i put some dings and dents in some of the parts to get an idea how they would look. Not to bad, guess ill just go by trail and error using another speeder body and see how it comes out.

Grumpy [|(]Ok now i am stumped!!!Banged Head [banghead] Banged Head [banghead]I was going to start adding battle damage to the speeder and actually start the painting session but when i got my dremel out I didn't know how to do it.

1.) Is the speeder considered a metal or aluminum alloy?

2.) Does it matter? Or just go about dinging and banging it up?

3.) Would it damage like a WW2 tank?

Like I say i am really confused at this point. I want it to look very used and very old but not sure at this point how or where to start. Any ideas or pointers would be highly appreciated!!!

Excellent use of resistors. I love it.

Thank you, they have many uses for sci fi. One of the reasons for going nutz with em. I have to restrain my self however.

Astrazoic  Alex  Schweinhund227- Thank all three of you for your kind words, and for following along on this build. I have a few other ideas for it and have to start planning out some battle damage as well. Not sure how to go about it since im not sure exactly what type of metal would have been used. Ill just do some searching and see what other people have done to there speeder and other space craft.

Excellent work on that speeder. It's about time someone put this thing together with such care and attention to detail :)

Well so much for getting any painting done, did some more work on the guns and power couplings. Used some watch parts and other junk. And on the canopy as well.

Seriously awesome work, i've enjoyed following the evolution of your speeder.

Thank you for following along, its been fun and enjoyable building and updating the project. It's also helped me keep on track. I got some more painting done and will have some updates by tomorrow night. I think I will finally be getting this thing closer to being done.

I sit down at the bench today and decided it was cluttered enough, broke out the airbrushes and decided to get painting. In the next 2-3 days hope to have some updates with some real progress and hope to finally finish this thing once and for all...

well if your super detailing it, your trying to make it look real. Now if the real one is cluttered on the inside, why shouldnt the model of it?

Thats just it, the original from the movie pics and other reference is some what detailed but on this build i went with my own design, I'm not trying to replicate the original or the studio model. I have to stop adding details upon details and just get it finished.

Ok someone has to stop me,. I sat down to work on this baby last night and couldnt get out of the mode of adding more detail to it. I think i have reached the point that I am over doing it here......

I took a good look at it and think it is getting to be a bit much and I hope that i didnt over clutter it.....

I am planning on the next time that I touch it to finally just paint it and start the final assembly. Hopefully I can resist and pack all my stash of detail parts and just finish this thing finally.

I haven't forgotten about this build, however another build has caused me to put this one kinda on the back burner as I prepare my next project. I will have a few updates soon.

You might be sick of seeing teaser shots with not much progress going on but i got a new camera that takes better closeups and I wanted to post a few more close up shots before the final stage is complete, this has been a real long build for me.

Getting there,  but do not think Ill make the contest this saturday Sad [:(]. I don't want to rush it then feel that I could have done more to it or did a crappy job finishing it. I still have to give it a little battle damage, althought now it seems hard to beat it all up after all this work.....

I finished the scribing on the upper surface and the lower surface of the craft, and added a bunch of holes. Finish the interior painting, install the interior then i can put the two halves together. I have decided to repaint the engine area greys and blacks as if every open hatch will be to much being all red. Pics to come soon, as I am away from home currently.
