Gunpla Master

Can anyone please explain how to link this to the other thread I have started in Group Builds, or can you help me do this FSM.

Problem solved, if you are posting a WIP w/the Ma.K Group Build, then proceed to the other thread and do so there.  I will not ask anymore!Geeked

Ma.K GB is located in the Group Builds of FSM Forum.  Is not difficult to find.  Thanks.

Outstanding Cosmic J, I am not sure which one of these super great kits you will post as a WIP, but can you do me a favor, I have moved this Ma.K GB to this location:  Go to Forum & Community, after that you will see the thread labeled Group Builds under the headings of the subjects of the Forum, click Group Builds and you will find the place I have started the WIP GB f/Ma.K.  I thought I was doing the right thing by officially starting this there, but I seemed to have caused some confusion for everyone.  I believe this is what and where a GB is to be conducted, but if I am wrong, please inform me and we can do this where ever you say??????? HELP

Normally when I do a GB, I post both in the GB and the relevant section. For example, my Hell Hound Hovertruck was done as an IDF "What If" type vehicle, so I posted in both the GB section and here.

I find that doing so increases exposure for interested folks, because not everyone looks at all the forums on the boards - I look here in SF, in Figures, Dios and sometimes Armor. I only go into Autos, Helicopters or Real Space when I'm actually building one of those kits (which means rarely).

So don't worry, no harm, no foul. Cool

Thanks for the advice Cosmic J, sounds good to me, so we can use both of the threads.  So if you want to post that completed or whatever, please do so.  I was wondering, so Yous Guys, did I say that right for a Dixie Boy, anyhow, is it me or does it seem like the prices for Nitto Ma.K kits are just getting ridiculously high in price?  I have noticed in the last few weeks a steady increase in what people think they can get for Ma.K (Nitto) and have seen some trying to do it w/Wave??????  Here is what I am talking about, an individual had a Nitto (X3 of them) kits w/a $4.99 start bid, but the ship charge was $40.00??????  I PM'd and asked why do it this way, was told to mind my business!  Now guys, please understand, I am all for a person getting his price f/a kit, but when you do it underhanded,  I hope that little lite goes off: RIP OFF!  I have mailed/UPS cartons, weighing lb.s that was less than $40.00.  My advice to this when you see it, buyer beware.  And for some reason, Ma.K kits seem to be easy pray for this.  Watch out what you buy!  But also there are many good deals to be had if you just look, and fellas, the best thing to do, is get a good understanding of kit values, I for one will not pay $300.00 f/any Ma.K kit, regardless of who, what and where.  But that's just my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, I've noticed that the prices for the old Nitto and Wave kits online have gone up quite a bit, starting when the new releases from Hasegawa and Wave started hitting the shelfs.

I guess people are trying to cash in on the new MaK fever Smile

Just a side note to this. I was looking through some old Finescales from the 80s last night. I saw some adds for the original Nitto SF3D kits. Did not see anything priced over $25.00. Now some of these are going for hundreds. These collectors must be crazy. These are plastic model kits and are meant to be built but us normal builders dont have the funds for the outragiously priced kits

Yea but thats the problem.  If you find a store that has them in the USA your going to have to pay a high price for the rarity, if you go on ebay or something... well, good luyck to you

Yeah, there's definitely some of that going on. I myself almost sold my Prowler kit when I saw it  going for around $80 on E-bay. I mean, it might be foolish of me NOT to sell it, but heck w/ it. I wanna build it.

Well, on the plus side, the new releases are nice and affordable. At the very least, they're the old Nitto kits re-boxed. At best, they're all new parts cast from new molds, of previously unseen subjects. It's a good time to be into MaK. Big Smile

I agree w/Cosmic J, if you are into Ma.K, now is a great time to model them w/Waves re-do of the Nitto kits.  I also have noticed more and more places are carrying and selling, that is good.  I again highly recommend you get a firm understanding of what is rare and what is not before you agree to buy that kit off of eBay.  I will use the following as a guide:  As of now, Wave has not kitted the Neuspotter, now the rumor has it that part of this kits molds were destroyed in a fire.  Now I have heard thru the rumor mill, Wave may re-tool to re-pop this kit, I for one hope they do.  But for the time being, you will from time to time find a Nitto kit listed on eBay.  Now what is a good price to pay, hint: the cheapest you can get away with.  Unless you need to complete a collection, or you just gotta have now, please do not fall for the ridiculous prices you see people trying to get.  I would not give more than $55.00 f/a Neuspotter and I would ask for the guy to pick up the ship to boot!  There is now listed a MK I AFS f/$125.00 + ship, please explain why a person would pay that when you can get a new up-to-date version from Wave for $30.00Hmm  Again, please if you are looking to purchase, stay with the Wave kits, get accustomed to the building and finishing and then if the Ma.K time line suits your fancy, buy that dream kit and enjoy, but get a good deal and not ripped off!  Just my2 cents

Funny, I've got a Neuspotter that I've been itchin' ta build and I really don't care how "rare" it is... I just want ta build it! That being said, I'm considering putting it up for trade because I've always wanted a Fledermaus (and who doesn't want a Takako Lopez figure?)! My meandering point is: for me they're more fun to build rather than collect and sit on, but to each their own...

In other news, I've updated my Lunadiver build with better progress pix and have posted some WIP shots of the Snake Eye. Man, that thing goes together like a dream --- the only pain is cleaning up the seams, which is a chore I can't stand! Wave REALLY finessed the engineering on the original kits!

Regards and Aloha,

Johnny B.

I agree havoc, build them, collecting is what drives the prices thru the roof, don't think so, look up a NIB Pocher wrapped and see what you will lay out because it still has a wrapper, now to a builder that would not matter, but to a collector, well that is the frosting on the cake.  With all that said, I thought, hey lets see your build stash of Ma.K if you have.  This is where you get to show off if you want too!!!!!  Now fellas, I am old enough to indulge in my hobby, and I do not have by far a big collection of these kits, but if you feel I could open a Hobby Shop, well I understand.Whistling

I agree with you guys on the "collecting vs. building" issue.  While my stash has gotten big enough to look like I might be in the "collecting" category, I have plans ( some simple, some grandiose ) for almost every one of the kits I have, even if it's to serve as a "just in case i goof and need spare parts" backup.  The exceptions are those that came in a lot on auction that included something else I wanted.

For example: no, I don't like the Macross 7 VF-11 MAXL at allDead, but the 5 regular VF-11Cs that came in the lot with 3 of them were worth the $20 on their own and I figure I'll eventually find use for those pink-and-white monstrosities even if it's as background wreckage in some as-yet- unplanned diorama.

Added another kit to the build stash, a 3Q WAVE KAUZ.  Neat kit with all the goodies we have come to expect from WAVE/  That now brings the total of kits to 22 in the Ma.K time line I have amassed.  There are still others I will watch for and add as time and hobby funds allow.  For one, I am most looking forward to that 1/35th Nutrocker coming down the pike from Hasegawa.

Just got off of eBay, man I am just bummed out by all the Censored some of these guys are feeding you about the kits and the amount too ship.  Not every kit made is rare, not since Wave started repopping them, A SAFS is not rare. why would I pay over $70.00 f/one when I can order one from here in the good ole USA and w/ship get for less than $40.00.  Oh no, I am stupid and will pay double because the seller says it is rare and collectible, jeez give me a break.  This is the part of Ma.K that sucks!   There is places here in the US you can get them when in stock, and please beware of re-cast resin junk from a well known location as listed on eBay, you will get a lump of resin junk, buyer beware!!!!!!!!!  Just wanted to vent after looking @ the listing.  One seller has 9 kits, now some are a bit hard to find, but the majority are not, re-pops, he wants $300.00 + ship, the day I have too start buying them like this, I will stop buying Ma.K kits!!!!!!!!!!  Just my 2 cents worth.

Well, I think that's just part of the Evil-bay experience, not necessarily exclusionary to MaKs. I've been trying to get my hands on the fighters from the anime "Crusher Joe" for years now - when I do find them on the Bay, they run about $70 for a 1/100 scale kit. Then of course, there are the Chinese recasters...

You know how it is, Free Market Capitalism in all it's glory. If someone deliberately overprices something, we are free to buy it - or not. If someone overpays, that's their own fault - Caveat Emptor. I imagine some folks overpay just so they can brag about how much they spent. As downsides go, that's really not so bad.

On the plus side, I was in there last month and someone had started the bidding on his Nitto MaKs at $1 each. Cool

Thought I would also post on this thread as well, it is OK for more than one person to be building the same kit for the GB.  I fully understand you may only be able to get what you can where you can and I do not want to limit a person based on how many of the same kits are being built.  So with all said, build as you please along as it is a Ma.K.

Oh and while I am @ it, I will vent again.  What is up w/eBay sellers, holidays and items that end on that period.  I have had three kits delayed, one is 2 States away, not shipped until today, because of Labor Day??????????? Bang Head Come on dudes, did I want until today to pay, and hey, how about a heads up if you are going to take 5 days off before you will shipHmm.  Just poor business and for some reason here lately seems to be the norm!!!!!!!!!!!!!Angry

I am really getiing a bad taste in my mouth w/dealing w/eBayClown

Just my2 cents worth.

Well the post above rants about eBay sellers and this one lets you know there are some super rare kits up for grabs on eBay right now.  ie:  Dollhouse 1/20 resin kit, exspect this one to go high, very high.  But if you have the bucks, then there are some nice kits available, to include the impossible to find Kings Krote.

Well again I have a Love/Hate relationship w/eBay.  I love to find that rare kit @ a fair price, but hate the games one must play w/sellers.  But today I won on both counts, a super rare, hard to get and much wanted Konigs Krote and a Nixie w/free ship.  made the fella a offer for the two and him picking up the EMS and he took it.  Now I have bought from this guy before, and he is a class act and fast to ship.  Will post some pic's when I get'em.  Now this are cottage industry resin Drunk Dog and Winter Fest kits.  Not your garden variety plastic kits.  Looking forward to these!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its ok, those tears will dry up.Clown  I know you wanted one too.

Nice goin', Gunpla! Man, the Koenig's Krote is truly a Holy Grail kit --- a real beast!!  Ya gotta let us know what that KK looks like in the box. Now, what a Nixie is, I could not say (maybe an AFS with Richard Nixon's face...?), so you'll have ta clue me in on that one.

Glad ta hear you scored, amigo. Next, the Dollhouse!

The Nutrocker looks great, by the way --- I get why you didn't weather it...even if it kills me! Nice work, dude!

Starting the new gig F/T tomorrow, but I WILL get some new --- if not boring --- pictures of my 35th scale Prowler up in the next couple of days...apologies for the delay as life keeps getting in the way of the hobby... What's up with THAT?

Take care, Folks.

Johnny B.

Some facts I found interesting about the interest in Ma.K here on FSM!  Since starting the thread  Sci-Fi of this Forum and then the Ma.K GB, the subject combined from a period of July-Oct, 3 months, has had 5525 hits, 292 replies totaling 20 pagesSurprise

Looks to me, there is a very interested group of Ma.K's builders here.

Just a bit of triva.

Thanks.  After some trial and error, mostly error and a few words, it worked.

I'm thinking of doing the fledermaus in a combination cammoflage/annevisary scheme.  It will give me a break from my NX-01 project.

Glad you got the emblem on your post now, can be a pain to get it to take!  About that Fledermaus, no one is @ this time building in the GB one of these, and I for one think you would be just the man for the job.  Will be watching for it.  Cammo/anniversary scheme, sounds interesting to say the least.
