With the sad news today it's seeming like it might be a good time to start this.

I have a Mr. Spock kit in my stash.

Go for it M71, I'd find something to build.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I'm starting to call my local hobby shops to see if they have the Mr. Spock. No luck so far. No matter, go ahead and pull the trigger mach71, let's do this.

Sad news today. I did the Spock build. I had a problem with Spock killing an innocent animal...Vulcans respect life! So I gave him motivation to kill the 3-headed snake. {note the severed red shirt arm! poor red shirts}

Cult Tv Man out of stock. This is going to be the "tough to get" model for awhile.

The second version of the Spock kit, made for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, has a retooled base with Spock in the "new" light blue uniform on a truncated base that removes the alien snake creature. The final release went back to the vintage version of the kit.

AMT also did a vinyl TOS Spock kit in the 90s.

And Andrea Miniatures did a 54mm (1/32) scale Science Officer white metal figure that is the subsequent movie version of Spock (ST II-VI) with a small Enterprise-A on a stand.

Gerry, Thats a nice Spock!

Ok, I've never sponsored a group build but I think we are just about ready.

How does the Leonard Nimoy memorial Star Trek group build sound?

I'm kind of leaning toward a 8-12 month time frame. That would give people the chance

to build one of the big Ships.

Kits less than 30% built are ok.

Crossovers are welcome.

Any other suggestions?

Right on Mach, I'm in for sure. Don't have anything ST in the stash, so, I'll have to shop. BUT, count me in  for sure!

mach71,

I was just shopping around online today for what I may want to do for this. I'm definitely in by the way.

I like the name of the GB, and the time frame is good. I'd lean more towards the 12 in the 8-12mo time frame. :) All in all, I like what you got going, all I need is a green light and I'll get my order in.

I don't know who normally makes the GB tags and I surely don't want to step on anyone's toes but I couldn't help myself for doing this. Not saying you got to use it....just a suggestion.

Natvtxn,

I like that badge,  looks classy. I would vote for a 12 month time frame as well, as I have so much on my plate.

I'm interested in joining this, too. Got the new 1/1000th Reliant in the stash.

Just post up dates, and I'll break it out, just for Mr. Spock.

natvtxn I love your badge. I was just mulling over what to do for one. If it works for the forum I would

love to use it just as it is.

So it looks like we are ready to go. I'm thinking 12 months also.

I have picked up the TMP  Spock kit from AMT last night on ebay. I should get it in the next week.

Now for the dumb question. How do I start this?

Just post over in the group build section? Can we use the badge as is or does it need to be a particular size?

Thanks

Mark

I've never run a GB either, but I would say you're right in thinking just post it up in the GB Forum. From what I've seen on others, you just need to spell out the rules, dates, etc. and we will follow suit by stating what we will build. Oh, and usually there's a master list of who is participating and what they are building.

I think the badge will need resized, I will try to make it smaller and repost.

Hey Mark, model your start page based on the many that are already there (Century Series, for one). I suggest, your intro, the rules and the roster on the first post, then, immediately reserve the next post for completed builds. As you know, as you were in our Century build, Theuns was the host and maintained the roster on post one and I maintain the completed builds on post two...the rest is up to the community. As for the bage, most people use Photobucket and it can be sized there.

Here's a slight reworking, and resize so it's maybe more manageable.

Mach,

Hosting a GB is easy, and as Rob said, right after you post the build on the Group Build thread, immediately follow up your post with a reply to reserve the second page. You can just put in a number as a place holder and edit it later if you want. The first page is for the rules, dates, etc. and the second page is for the roster, completed builds etc.

Follow my links for the Mustang Build or Artillery Build if your interested in how I did it, (the Artillery Build starts April 15).

I'll jump in at some point, and I don't know with what, but pencil me in TBD.

Good luck Boss.

Alright

I'll get it posted sometime today.

Does anyone want to co-host this with me?

This is what I have so far:

In memory of Leonard Nimoy

A GB dedicated to Star Trek

The rules:

- any scale ,and kit from Star Trek, or anything linked with the show (anyone want to try the 1932 Caddy from “A Piece Of The Action?)

-Props are welcome, as long as you build it. A DST phaser would not count unless you completely disassemble it and modify it in some way while putting it back together. A 23rd century pistol would be great.

-Any Star Trek, series or Movie. Yes even JJ Trek

- crossovers from other GB's welcome.

-start date  3 March 2015 until March 31 2016.

-Kits of less than 30% completed also welcome.

-Please post a photo of the box art, if there is any.

-WIP pix PLEASE.

-out of the box or as much extras as you like.

-must have FUN!!!

Lets use the Vulcan philosophy of IDIC in this build.

Please grab a badge when you have completed your model

Put me down I won't start until June or July. I have TOS Enterprise that I will build.

I probably won't make it either until June or July as well.  Still need to get some electronics for my TOS Enterprise.....and they can be rather pricey.

But, for the record......put me down for a 1/350 TOS Enterprise, lit with all the bells and whistles.

MKelly and Matt,

The thread has moved to the official GB thread, cs.finescale.com/.../164494.aspx.

See you over there.
