Got to ask Timmy did you get many stopping to offer you a lift.

Not at first.  It took me 2 days in the UNRELENTING SUN , to finally get a ride out of Wyoming.

( The sunburn was "Epic" )

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

Now that Mascot is feeling emotional and stuff... I think we need to help him out. It is not acceptable that I call him Mascot anymore. Afterall-- apes have feelings too and wow--look at how long he has been clapping. Stick out tongue He deserves a name don't you think.

So... today starts the official, Icarus Liberty 1--Name My Ape Contest. I propose you all come up with a name for our ape friend. I will let the contest run through Sunday, 2/17. On Sunday we'll review the names and maybe take a final vote.

The winner will receive an official-- highly coveted-- Icarus... Liberty 1... Name My Ape award! Man! Who wouldn't want that! Stick out tongue

Our Ape friend thanks you.

I might add--he looks happier already.

UPDATE: You may submit more than one name.

Well, my first thought was 'Clapper'.

But that's a little too on the nose...

So I thought 'Sun Wukong' The Monkey King out of Chinese mythology.

But he's a monkey, not an ape.

So I'm going to go with 'Cornelius'. It seems to fit the theme of this thread.

Unless it's a girl... and I'll go with 'Zira' instead...

Thanks for playing!

Of course you've probably heard this before but the shuttle used on the original Trek you'll see the actors walking around inside erect- even tall guys like Kelley and Nimoy. But when you see the shuttle from the outside and it's quite a bit shorter than any of the actors. Because the inside set and the outside prop were different sizes. Either that or the shuttle was like the Doctor's TARDIS and larger on the inside than the outside. Maybe the Icarus had the same type of dimension twisting technology???

Seth MacFarlane is doing the same thing on The Orville!

Sort of like tv/movie shots of a small bizjet like an old Lear 25 or something, then they cut to an interior shot and the cabin is 20 feet wide. Surprise

LOL! Sounds awesome! I tried to find the 'Orville' but it seems my local affiate doesn't run it. Plus, even though I keep being told how good it and 'The Expanse' are I just keep watching old stuff instead. I don't know if it's getting old or what but I just don't care for new stuff like I used to.

Sure sure do know what you mean, Cliff.

Just FYI, I watch The Orville on Hulu, not sure what network it is on. It caught my attention because it is so Star Trek-like, and at when one first starts watching it the wisecracks and sillyness are so out there based on what we are conditioned to seeing.

After a while, you sort of get used to it. I like the show.

1--Name My Ape Contest.

There's a certain car dealership that advertises a "trunk monky".

Yours could be "Glue monkey

Update 021320.20

The forward floor is pretty much complete. In the movie prop the forward chairs are elevated in relation to the rear. I never noticed that in the movie until I looked for it. The drawing tipped me off to this, so--I recreated that too.

As I was test fitting, I realized that if I was to build the sleep chambers I won't have room with things as they are. The instrument panels reach back too far. Funny how a person forgets things. I then remembered overbuilding those knowing I'd have to adjust them later.

Fool that I am -- I guess I'll go for it and build the chambers too. Why not I say. Why not put a ton of work into this model because this model or another model--they are all a ton of work. What's the diff. Surprise

I don't know what it is about interiors of things that fly, but I tend to put a lot of work into them too, too be seen again or not.

So full speed ahead on the sleeping chambers.

So true about that, Greg. Look at it this way... It’s the WIP that keeps on giving. :)

Thanks! I'm only subscribed to Amazon Prime and AsianCrush. If I ever get around to watching 'The Expanse' I'll give 'The Orville' a look.

Funny, my sister had a chimp like that except he only had a pair of tennis shoes and a banana in his hand. I don't remember what name he sold under but she called it 'Zipper' so I'm guessing it might have sold under the name 'Zippy'.

Looks good! And don't worry about it, whenever I try building an interior like this I end up spending more time tearing out and rebuilding stuff than building it in the first place.

I wondered if anyone would pop up and say "Hey, I had one!". That is not my pic up above, I found it on  the internet. I think the "Zip" doll must have been wildly popular. While I was looking for it, Google results suggest it must have been about a monkey named Zippy on Howdy Doody, which was a bit before my time. Looks like he must have made the TV rounds on the likes of Ed Sullivan and such.

Asian Crush was new to me so I took a peek. Looks interesting.

Back to monkey names, there used to be a restaurant down on Fort Myers beach that had a dessert called Chunky Monkee. I remember my nephew who was maybe 14 was down one time, saw that, and I thought he was going to die laughing.

I think I shall submit Chunky Monkee too.

Say Igor, I just thought of something. Igor would be a great name for my monkey friend. Its the name of Frankensteins assistant. I guess that makes me Frankenstein. Doh!

I am adding the name and you to the contest list. :)

Hehe, nice names- I really like Chunky Monkey.

Greg: You can watch most stuff on AsianCrush for free. They just load it down with ads. I personally consider it worth the five bucks a month to go ad free. But you can use the free ad heavy version as a 'try it before you buy it' option.

If I can trouble you guys to do one more thing--I'd like you to vote. I could certainly pick the winner, but I'd rather this be a group effort.

To avoid concern of offending anyone--go ahead and PM me with your vote. (That's if the PM function is working.) :(  Also-- you don't have to be one of those that submitted a name in order to vote. Those that did submit a name are free to pick their own submission, if inclined.

I realize this is a big ado about nothing, we're just trying to have some fun with it.

I will give this until Wednesday to gain a consesus.
