I mentioned Constellation. Forgot Defiant, but that was just the Enterprise model with some green fuzz. We both forgot Exeter, but that was Enterprise too. Anyway, all had identical pennants.

Masao you forgot about the defiant and also the battle damaged studio model of a first pilot Enterprise used to represent the Constellation.

A quick update. I just pulled my second saucer casting from the mold. The first one is deformed due to the resin expanding and causing a bulge. I cut a couple plywood squares to clamp on the outside of the mold to prevent the problem. The second casting is real nice. That means all the major parts are there and I can start on building a real model of the Baton Rouge class. Expect pictures soon. Wink [;)]

I have most parts ready for assembly except for the saucer. I have to repair the saucer mold but that should be a quick and easy fix. I hope to have pics of my progress posted tonight or later this weekend. I also received an email from the caster who is doing the castings for my kit. He said they looked very good and will be starting on casting the parts soon.

I don't think so. The only ships of that era we've seen on screen are Enterprise, Constellation (using an AMT model of Enterprise), and Daedalus (as a small model in Sisko's office). The TOS era ships used the same pennants, while Daedalus used a three stripe arrangement. In my ship schematics, I used the Daedalus pennants for the oldest ships, Enterprise-style strips for the more recent ones, and a modified command star for the middle ones. I didn't think that Starfleet would change markings very often, so three in 100 years seemed like plenty.

Remember this ship was around long before the Constellations. I personally believe that the policy of different ship symbols had yet to be used. We know the Daedalus class used a simple three line stripe and The Baton Rouge falls between those two eras.

hmmmmmmmm that pennant you designed looks similar to the pennant on the Constellation.

Yes, it is by design. I wanted to combine the tri-stripe of the daedalus era with that of the Enterprise's, but do you like it?

By the way if anyone has an idea about what markings this ship should carry, I'd love to see them. Masao? Hmmmm?Wink [;)]

Masao I suggested a stripe like this. Forgive the crude look I whipped it up in "Paint" and heaven knows I'm nobodies CG artist.Big Smile [:D]

I also suggested to John a layout similair to that of your Avenger.

Markings: I'd suggest using either the TOS-style pennants or the pennants I designed for my USS Swordfish, Lancaster, and Paris, which is based on the command star.

Starship Modeler is working up the decals. I have sent a couple suggestions to John so we'll have to see what he decides. I recommended that we use these names and reg numbers; USS Moscow NCC-1357, USS Tehran NCC-1371, and USS Republic NCC-1378. Masao do you have any suggestions for markings?

Woody, the original painting doesn't have much in the way of markings. What sort of markings will you use?

A quick update: I put the masters in the mail today. I must admit I was a little sad to see them go. They grow up so quickly! LOL

Masao, That is right. The pictured molds are so I can complete my original project. I want to take my Baton Rouge to Wonderfest but SSM won't have a kit ready until just before the show.

So, do you mean that you'll be sending SSM the masters and it will handle the mold-making and casting?

Starship Modeler will be selling them and they will be for sale when they get done producing the kits. The molds above are quickly done affairs that I intend to use to finish my original GB project. The kits will hopefully be done by late May.

So, Woody, is the kit now officially for sale? Give the word, and the money is on its way.

Yeah the last of the Baton Rouge molds have been poured!

This is a one piece mold for the warp nacelle strut(s), deflector backing plate, and the saucer pylon.

This is the bottom half of a two piece mold for the deflector dish.

I took this picture after I had this one piece mold for the bussard collector and impulse engine insert, ready to pour. I seperated these parts from the other one piece mold because I want to cast these in red tinted clear poyester resin.

Best of all my sanity is fully intact! Well mostly anyway.

I love Enterprise. It's continuity problems preclude it from the established Trek universe in my personal opinion. That hasn't stopped me from watching it every week as good solid Sci-Fi.Wink [;)]

I read that as well....

Actually Enterprise is not all that bad really....

I still prefer Classic Trek though.....

True, I just read he co-wrote the season finally. Seems that Deanna Troi and Captian Riker will be in that episode which reveals that "Enterprise" was a historical holodeck program. I guess they rewrite history in the future too. Laugh [(-D]

Mike, me too. I've been a long time fan of that design and the Marshall class.

Mike

I'm told it will be $60 - $70 but that was an estimate at this stage.

The neck in the kit is the second version I tried. I tried to make one like that in the pic but it didn't look right. The painting has a few quirks that don't translate well into a physical model. My Baton Rouge is a composite of the painting, the schematic, and my interpretation of those parts not shown. In my mind there is a structure or "scaffolding" attached to the left side of the neck for it's construction. I've always felt the painting shows the construction of the USS Moscow because there are no markings on the ships hull yet and because of the nacelle being attached.
