Very nice build.  I love the green color.....artistic license is a big part of model building.

hey bakster good to hear from you , looking forward to more of your build too .                 thanks rwiederrich , the reason I went with the green is because I have built it before , I think the green goes well with the wooden sides         steve

I thought it strange that there no railing's around the poop deck, or no access from the quarter deck ., saw a bloke on a german site do something like this, so here goes., " />

Wow Steve, that is a cool shot. I see a lot of detailed painting and weathering going on. The deck looks nicely weathered and very real looking too. I think you are doing some really nice work here. I'd like to step into the picture to see what more you did.

So what is next on the list to work on?

Very nice... keep it coming!  Yes

I've had a lot of fit issue's with this kit , I forget who it was , but they suggested smoothing off with a wet cotton bud [cue tip ] hope I got that right .but gee it made sanding delicate areas easier . " />

Steve, those anchors look great. The wood looks like wood, the metal looks like metal. Nicely done.

Steve,

I'm very impressed with your work on this build so far Steve. I am curious about the picture you posted two days ago which shows a square? looking deadeye and lanyard as you aimed the camera to the stern. Is it for the rigging on the mizzen mast?

I don't know the rigging as I prob. should as I'm going to try and build this kit as well; but did the shrouds have the deadeye lines like that or is this temporary?

those are just normal triple blocks bigjake . the deadeyes for the shrouds are in front of that rigging . I'm like you prob should know but don't know  the name of this rigging . prof. jtilley , or davidk . are prob better people to ask . I'm just following the instructions . sorry mate...............steve5

It's a little hard to tell from the photos, but I think the lines in question are the masthead pendants.

The rigging instructions in the Heller kit are awful. I always recommend that anybody tackling this kit get hold of a copy of Dr. R.C. Anderson's The Rigging of Ships in the Days of the Spritsail Topmast. It's an old classic - currently available in cheap paperback form.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

She's looking real good, Steve!

Um, I do have o say that I'm a bit flummoxed (and utterly impressed) by the fact that you've only begun this thread less than a month ago, yet your hull is complete and you're a good bit into masting and rigging...it defies several laws of physics.

Keep it up, by this measure you should be finished with her in 3-5 days!  lol

Seriously, though...keep up the good work!  You're helping to remove a certain stigma.

thank's jtilley , I think your right I've just got an awful memory , I have andersen's book on download , but gee I'm having trouble deciphering it , guess I'm more of a visual bloke . I like too see what it look's like not read how it's supposed to go , but I hope bigjake's question was answered.........       dave , I have been on this build for 6 months or so ., I just could not post picture's , until 1943mike took me under his wing and showed me how .modeling would be pretty boring if you could model that quick lol., and thank's for the nice comment ....................steve

thought I would have  bit of fun , and build a rope walk out to the bowsprit mast . I could imagine it would have been pretty hairy getting out there as it was , without something to hang on too " />
