I'm very glad that you found this building report interesting ,and thank you very much for your comments :)... it gives me a push to continue rigging ... frankly speaking , I feel tied a little bit from this project ... too much ...endless knots and seizings...:)))

however ,some small updates- completed lanyards decoration...each lanyards loop around shroud was fixed by CA gel , and final result was "painted and stained"

Wow ! I want to be a rigging master like you when I grow up. I have just finished reading all this thread and what a beautiful superb build it is. I learned alot. Any mistakes you claim you did are not obvious to us mere mortals. Thanks for sharing.... Dale

today evening nearly finished rigging mizzen mast shrouds, and completed mizzen stay...

at the end of shrouds seizing, found that shrouds of port and starbord side are different in lenght :)))

sbs became shorter in 2-3mm :(( when  making seizing I didn't noted that sbs carton template bended more than ps template, as a result - shrouds became shorter)... but it was too late when I noted it, at this stage, to make correction, so, I desided to leave it like this...

love watching this build , you really are a master of the rigging . as to the " error's" you made , on that scale , it would be nearly impossible to see with the naked eye .

there are a few comments to pictures posted above

the number of mizzen shrouds in this kit is given in odd, so the last shroud Iput with the imitation of a "cut-splice"

 ... but I'm not sure that I did it correctly and appropriately ...

 it would probably be more logical to combine the first shroud and the mast tackle pendant ...? 

The strapping of the upper deadeyes I tried to do partly using the information from Anderson's book, in regard to the direction in which the shroud turns into a deadeye, considering its" hawser -laid" type of the rope, in the same way as they are rigged on the replica of the small Dutch "galleon" Duyfken .. . 

As I could see there is no" throat seizing" in use ? probably with such a form of deadeyes, this is not necessary

-I also did not make a" throat seizing" simulation,but only three "round seizing" ...

By the way, I did  wrong shape of deadeyes ... I had to make them flat! .... teardrop shaped, but flat ...

There are some more pictures of current construction - two masts remain - mizzen mast and bonaventur mast.

before start mizzen mast rigging /shrouds, need to make and install   bonaventur mast stay , including stay collar and blocks- lower part of the stay.

This collar I did 3 times, first two attempts were unsuccesful due to I did :

*mistake with collar construction - made it too complicate for such small and light stay...

*second time I did wrong size of the collar- did it the same diameter as stay, but it should be 0.7-0.75 of stay diameter 

*third time I made it more or less right/correctly , as I understood it of course.. :) and left this version as final...

Just caught your post Kirill. What beautiful work! I have a Revell Spanish Galleon and because of your post makes me anxious to start on it! I know plastic doesn't hold a candle to all wood but what a great cha!!enge to try and make it look like it! I will be looking forward to your next posting.What's next after this one?

..... my memory is just getting worse , old age unfortunately .

Good day Steve... often feel the same ... especialy in the begining , after some idle period of model bulding ... need a week to concentrate and try to remember ,what I did before ,where I stopped last time :)))!

thank's kirill , I even have it on kindle book's . my computer crashed and I forgot I had kindle , re down loaded the app , and my book's were back , my memory is just getting worse , old age unfortunately .

there are some more updates / pictures ...all this was done during last couple of months... and I could say -finaly I reached some  kind of key point ,-during last few days I completed rigging of Main Mast!!! Uph... 

 ... when I look trough my "done" rigging, the most sad or wrong thing wich I did - this is my decision(taken in the begining of rigging/a few years ago )) to use ordinary sewing threads  without making normal" rope " even using simpleast/hand made rope making machine... it was stupid ... but ...now I have what I have , and what you can see - for example riging of small sails , like topgallant ...on macro foto -looks very rough... I'm very sorry for that :)... next model rigging will be done with "normal" made ropes... :)))

in this section I continue with main mast rigging and try to follow information( in common :))) at least that part which I could understood)  from famous Anderson's book

In This case I 've made topgallant  sheets and topsail lifts as separate lines...I left small remarks with links to  Anderson 's book  pages numbers, on some fotoes...

and made topsails leechlines as well...I'm not sure that I did them in a right way for this period...may be it should be better to attach leechlines leading blocks to tie instead of stay collar??? and made them not as single lines?

in this my vacation I have time continue with main mast rigging - added main and top-sail bowlines...

 making main bowlines I' ve tried to follow Anderson's book and ancient pictures( some from Pieter Kirsch book"The Galleon ...") and  lead them trough the blocks fitted at  bowsprit.

When making top sail bowlines , I simplified rigging a little bit and ommited couple of  blocks which should be fitted  on the main stay - did it in the same way as on Pieter Kirsch galleon rigging reconstruction, but not as complicated as mentioned in Anderson book or we could see on the ancient drwngs

by the way, there is interesting question, at least for me , and I will be very apriciable if somebody tell me his own opinion, how to secure mizzen  tie in correct position at mizzen spar/ yard? 

Should there be securing plank / cleats same type/ or similar  to those we could see on the main or fore sails spars which hold the ties and the parrel-ropes in place?

or there is nothing need to be installed ? 

Logicaly there should be something / kind of stopper to keep mizzen tie at place,and prevent it to slipping off the yard... need to consider that mizzen yard all the time fitted to the angle to deck and sometimes need to be moved from side to side around mizzen mast depend on sail working position...

so, the next question, where to fit them if this clamps should be fitted? how many? one only evidence of such cleats I saw on modern reconstruction of swedish votive model , but can't find good foto of this element on ship replica of the period,such as Duyfken, Half Moon...

May be somebody have foto of the museum's models with similar mizzen sail arrangements where presence or absence of this plank could be clearly seen?

there are some fotoes of swedish votive model replica, where kind of such stoppers on the mizzen yard could be seen and fragments from book abt Prince Willem model/reconstruction with the different condtruction of stopper for mizzen tie...

The galleon rigging plan, which You mentioned ,it is my own design :)... I made it based on info from Anderson's book " the rigging of ships in the days of thespritsail topmast,1600-1720"...also I used info from Peter Kirsch book "The galleon", where I found a lot of interesting information abt galleon construction and great reconstruction of english galleon rigging as well...

There are many contemporary drwngs of the galleon of 16-17 centures which still exixts and where we can find many interesting details abt rigging and compare what we see with that Anderson wrote abt :)))

meanwhile have some progress in mizzen mast rigging - rigged mizzen tie/knight, temporary without mizzen spar and sail,will do it later on and rigged mizzem mast tackles - did couple of them...

nearest plan is to make carton patterns for rigging mizzen shrouds and as soon as shrouds will be done, mizzen stay could be fitted

Once again, I am most impressed by your work!  I have always loved sailing ships, and have built beautiful ships as well, but I have learned so much from following your posts.  There seems to be a plethora of very skilled builders here, all of whom I greatly admire. You are in that austere group.
