now I'm busy with main mast sails installation, but first need to make some preliminary arrangements with mizzen stay... later on it will be quitre difficult to make mizzen stay dead eye connection, when Main mast sails will be at place...

Good day,

Dear friends,

if I understood correctly - we are talking abt staples on the main spar... if yes, this I did for gaskets securing...unfortunately I made them a little bit out of scale...so they looks too big, need to be more miniature in size ...

regarding protection gear...as I could understand,in those days, there were no protection gear ,such a foot ropes for example,at least non of contemporary drwngs show them...looks like sailors working with sails like this

here ,on the foto, Fore mast main spar completed with gaskets attached

That's incredible. Must have too a lot of prior planning to get all that right. Great job!

Those are anchors for the sailors to attach their fall protection gear to.

i was looking over the photos I took the other day of the galleon replica from San Diego.

The robands look precisely as Kiril has modeled them, a single go round tied together on top with a knot. Otherwise the spar is as smooth as can be.

I'm sorry but some models will attempt to mimic these eye bolts on the top leading edge of the spar.  I assumed these are what are present on your spars that you secured the sail lashing by.

jtilley , thanks for your remark... may be it were eye bolts for the gaskets? , which I try to demonstrate on the main yards ... but not jackstay for sure... so, gasket's eyebolts  - I did - too big Embarrassed

Meanwhile continue with sails for main mast and decided to install fore mast braces

I confess I don't see jackstay eyebolts in the pictures either - though I can't claim to have looked at every shot.

Jackstays, of course, would be completely out of place on a ship of this period. I'm sure Kiril knows that perfectly well.

Youth, talent, hard work, and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery.

GMrrison,

Thanks for comments and attention!Smile...You are right...and actually my knots became a little bit out of scale due to too thick thread I used...so I decided to simplify procedure and made it...how to say...schematic only...?

Thanks!

Fine work there. On a more contemporary ship, one end of the roband would go around the yard or jack stay twice before being tied.

Good day,

Dear friends,

continue with various preparation for assembling main mast yards and sails... fabricated smallest blocks, approx 2 mm in length, which will be ness-ry in this stage... for securing robands to the sails I used one of the drwng from Anderson book...actually it is for top gallant sails, but I will use it for all sails (to much simplify installation and save time)... it will be mistake here, but do it in correct way,how main and top sails  must be attached to the yards - too complicate for me...
