I can quote some other`s remarks on this thread that have nothing to do with the delay too...it`s called conversation...every thread I`ve ever replied to gets a little off track...maybe you should check out what I`m saying before  you accuse people of spamming a thread.

No, it's called hijacking the thread. There is a reason every forum is branched into threads - so people can keep each conversation on topic. You can always start a new thread about the price of model paints, I am sure lots of us would participate.

I would love to follow this thread and get emails when someone posts, so I know what's up with Tamiya paints, but all this bickering about the price of paint is really filling up my inbox with spam. Bang Head

You`re wrong. I don`t think you know what spam is. We`re talking about paint, it might `ve gotten away a little from the exact topic but so what. If you see my name in the post, delete it. I`m hijacking a thread about paint by talking about paint? Get over yourself noob.

I think thay you should get over yourself Len! Yours is not the only valid opinion and you have no right to talk that way to someone expressing their opinion especially a new person. All are welcome here.. Fine,  model paint is in fact VERY expensive per jar! You are right.  Don't buy them if you don't want to.

Back to the original thread, when are the Tamiya paints in fact supposed to be available in any real capacity? Model master and Vallejo pretty much are just fine with me though. Tamiya are just habit. I saw that the white from them that was available most recently was very watered down compared to the old formula. I hope that that is not true for all the new colors.

Listen, I`m not the one making accusations.All are welcome but get a little experience on the forums to get a feel for them before telling someone they`re spamming/hi-jacking a thread. There isn`t one multi-paged thread that stayed 100% on topic since I joined. AND, I dare you to find one that does! I said several times that it`s just my opinion and if you don`t agree it`s all good so where do you get that I think my opinion is the only valid one? I also said I was done with this but no one will let it die !

BTW...Welcome Sign to the forums,,,lol!

Something I did learned in a year as a temporary employee at Weathon Plastics (graveyard shift in Puerto Rico) is that often times a product container can be more expensive that the product inside. They also had a building for glass bottle manufacturing, but I never got to see it in action because they only ran 1st and 2nd shifts.

Back to the topic, 2 of my closest Hobby Shops as of yesterday Monday told me that they are getting Tamiya paints with their new label but in small quantities. For the moment they have some X-20 Thinner.

Noob or not, I am a paid member here, so my opinion is just as valid as someone with no life :)

Maybe if people like you would learn to keep conversations on topic we could get one thread without hijacking. This thread is about Tamiya being delayed again, not about how much a gallon of paint costs at Lowes, which I could give 2 poops about. If you can't differentiate between these two very different topics, may I suggest some Riddlin to help you focus?

{/rant}

Anyhow, I am still getting no love from SprueBros, one would think they would be one of the first to get a shipment of Tamiya. Anyone who has bought the new stock at their LHS - any noticeably difference?

Fortunately for you, I`m one of a kind...Big Smile Unfortunately, you`ll never see a thread on these forums stay 100% on topic...just the nature of people chatting on line to stray  a little. It never occured to me that my initial post would be seen as hi-jacking nor did I think I`d get so many replies to it. So, my apologies for that. Good luck with Tamiya and their shipping or whatever is causing the delay.

Len    P.S.  I`ll be lurking to make sure you stay on topic...GeekedBig SmileWink

I have read that it gives a tougher finish once it cures. Which would be good as in my experience, Tamiya paints are easily scratched and marred even after they cure. Maybe I'll buy me some of their lacquer thinner and find out for myself one day soon.

I agree. I have some laquer thinner...not Tamiya`s....gonna give that a shot myself. I never thought it possible to thin acrylics with laquer..kinda like apples and oranges. That`s why I like these forums...learn something new everyday!

I`m not trying to rock the boat here but, I use plain old laquer thinner with my MM paints and NEVER have trouble. The name on the can is Klean strip...got it at walmart or Home Despot, forget which. It`s a half gallon can I think and I transfer it with an old turkey baster. It cost around 14 bucks and lasts a pretty long time. They sell it in pints and quarts if you wanted to try it.

Sorry about questions? That`s what this place is all about...Big Smile

Got ya. I don`t have a real HS locally...AAA Hobbies is 50 miles away and get most of my supplies from small shops with a very limited selection and usually have paints but no thinners Hmm

Just another thought on thinner...you could always ask the HS owner to order the other thinner for you. I know that MM thinner is about a pint can...I was going through them too fast because I used it to clean brushes and airbrush (and everything else) besides thinning my paints. You`d still be supporting your HS and saving some $ in the process. Just a thought Big Smile Did you figure out how to make gull gray yet?

anyone know how to mix up gull gray?

For FS26440 (USN upper Light Gull Gray);

1 part XF-20 : 1 part XF-2

I would give it a test shot before committing though!

Both the base colors are flat, so that will give you Flat Gull Gray. 36440 is the flat version, 26440 the semi gloss. Unless you add Future of something else for shine to the mix, those ingredients will take care of you.

What color is X-20? Can`t find it on the Tamiya color charts...they skip from X-19 to X-23 on their site. XF-20 is flat  medium gray so is X-20 semi-gloss medium gray? I don`t use their semi`s too much so I don`t know if the colors are the same, just different finishes.
