Thanks, the mold is showing its age with a lot of flash but the fit isn't all that bad.

68GT: Polyscale is out of production and will probably be hard to find. Most railroad shops I've been in carry Floquil products, if you can't find one near you I'm not sure where else to look other than on-line.

I like the Metalizer, works well as long as you don't try to mask over it. Frankly I use Alclad for pretty much all metallic surfaces these days.

Clemens: Good luck with NM GB V - I'd like to support but I'm swamped by stuff now and after building three P-47s and a P-51 need a little break from NM subjects! I was pretty new to the whole GB thing too when I started my two GBs so if you need any advice give me a yell.

68GT good progress on the F-105 I too like the look of MM metal finishes but find them way delicate for masking and such. I have seen very good results with Tamiya flat aluminum paint as well and it doesnt seem to lift as easily. as the metalizers do. A suggestion might be a base color of metalizers then seal it with future as some of the panels look shiny then use a low tack mask and paint some of the panels with the Tamiya paint for the flat looking panels. I have also seen a few guys use  black and darker shades of gray paints under metalizers to create differant shades of aluminum. Near the beginning of this group someone did a bunch of test shots using plastic spoons with black and gray base coats and differant paints that might help you.

GT68 I went on a hunting mission for ya but didnt find the test spoons I told you about, I did however find a couple pages that might help you from round II. Heres a link to round II.

On page 14 about half way down Ibuild148 did a test panel with a few primer colors under an NMF finish and on page 3 Jmart offers a bunch of sites doing how to's for NMF finishes. Hope they help you out.

I am so glad i still got a full bottle of the Talon paint..... Absolutely love the stuff and it is a shame it is no longer available.

I am not sure but i wonder if you would have a flatter NMF if you used flat black as basecoat as opposed to gloss black...

Kermit as I recall someone tried using flat black and it didnt work as planned. Someone else tried using flat black and shooting future over it to get a smoother finish as well and that didnt work very well either.

I really like the Talon paints too. Hope someone buys the line and restarts selling it again.

Kermit: I can only tell you about Alclad paints: If you spray a flat black base coat (I used the Alclad primer) and polish it a little bit with a soft cloth, you get a very dull look. I tried to paint my Thunderbolt (first plane mdel ever) this way and I think it turned out pretty nice. I used Alclad's Aluminum paint and painted some panels in other colors (Airframe Aluminum, Chrome, Dark Aluminum). There is nothing "shiny-shiny" about it, but it looks not that bad on a Thunderbolt.

A while back I used the MM n0n-buff aluminum on the one below.  It has a base coat of gull gray with different panels being painted Testors rubber and a few a mix of the two.  I lucked out on it.

This one has a straight black lacquer base coat with the same top coat of MM.

Those were my 1st and 2nd NMF models in a real long time (20+ years).

Believe me, you don't want to see my first NMF bird (a Thunderbol). The pantjob is not perfect at all and it was my first plane model ever, so the model itself aint that good either...

Seen a few pp, not impressed with alclads own black gloss basecoat, me included. I now use humbrol gloss black enamel instead under the alclad highshine finishes and am much happier with it.

Ive tried C1 metaliser powder and find it only seems to work on enamel paint properly too

tried clearcoat to seal it and it just ended up looking like shiny grey paint instead of metal :-(

GT68 Like em both I especially like the first one the shading really makes is stand out. Love the base idea on the second one too. 

I think the time had come to close this build. Guys if you would check the front page to make sure I havent missed any completed builds and the build information is right it would be a huge help.
