Well, I ordered it.  Then I realized this thing is 1/32 so its going to take up some room when complete.  And to me a Kingfisher needs to be displayed on a catapult.  I see a catapult/turret scratchbuild project in the far future.

I have been thinking the same thing for mine. I've seen them done but I think that may be some work.

Hello BrandonK & Steve -

If you two don't mind I would like to jump in on this GB. I have 2 choices but will narrow it down to 1 by the end of the week.

My first choice is the HU-16A Albatross

Trumpeter HU-16A Albatross USAF Amphibian Aircraft -- Plastic Model Airplane Kit -- 1/48 Scale -- #2821

As you can see this is the USAF format....my thoughts on this build are to locate the decals for the USCG and make it the "Final Flight of the Albatross" when the USCG retired the Albatross in 1976. I just need to find USCG decals for this 1/48 beauty.

Or just go easy with the Cessna 172 and come up with same type of theme.

Minicraft Models Cessna 172 with Pontoon -- Plastic Model Airplane Kit -- 1/48 Scale -- #11634

I will definitely let you know very soon.

Thanks,

Hunter

P.S. The badge is very cool Big Smile

Hunter,

Either one would be cool! I love the Albatross and there are very few civilian subjects on here.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Steve - Well you help me make a decision on which one....I'll build the Cessna 172. I have an idea that I am going to plan out and give it a go. I ordered both of them to get me a "stash" started. Wink

Brandon - Thank you, and I look forward to being a part of this GB!!

Steve -

Laughing my head off!! I may have bit off more than I can chew but I am going to give it one heck of a try. I am definitely going to build one at a time. I went back and reviewed my order and read the highlights on the Albatross and I noticed the specs on it and when I saw 329 pieces my jaw dropped and HOLY GAUCAMOLIE Steve, 329 pieces!!! I better eat my Wheatie's. Huh? Big Smile

As long as she's the one eating it and not me, I really don't mind. Snot could be rolling and I'd still go "ya, like she eats those, what ev's". Know what I mean Vern?

I guess since I'm 27 I get a "Get out of Jail Free" for not noticing the nose on burger first. I screen shoot this to my wife and that was the first thing she noticed and laughed at me for looking at the girl first. Huh?

I just saw this over on the Civil Aircraft thread and would like to jump in as civil floats are of special interest to me. Below are some previous builds.

I have a 1/48 Linberg Goose that I have started and need motivation to finish. I am modifying it to match one that my dad wrenched on when I was much younger. It is based on this pic from a company picnic.

I added some interior, have been reshaping the tail, and changed some of the toy like details.

Hey who wants to build a Russian jet seaplane:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/982130-amodel-72329-be-10

Less than 30 built, but they entered service!  I had to look this one up, as I always thought it was just a prototype like the Seamaster.

Amodel kits aren't the easiest kits to build, but it would deffinitely be easier than a Mach-Poo.  Oh dang, I want one now!

I'd like to join up if I could. Kit is KP's 1/72 Piper L-4H on floats. It comes with two spiffy schemes, one a red and white USAF bird, the other a silver and red Swiss bird. May go with a civilian scheme, who knows.

Well....I was toying with my build today. The Italeri Ju52. I bought this year's ago in a bargain bin. Never opened the box til now. It has been started obviously by a 7 year old. Gobs of glue everywhere. Broken pieces. Fuselage has been put together without the interior. So I tried gently pulling things apart. Broke it all. There was only one thing to do buy another one. It we I'll be here on Wednesday
