Great work on those 2 O, really nicley finished.

Steve, i didn't realise CMK did Italian figures, good to see. I rather like their 72nd ones, so those should be nice.

Thanks Bish, it took a little while to find them. Not too many Italian pilot figures out there.

No, especially for aircraft. There are quite a few 35th figures if you look in the right place

Here are my two builds. Hasegawa  Razorbacks.  Good bench time when the state gets shut down because of a major blizzard. Expecting up to 2 feet of snow.

Thanks guys.
A short update on the 202 and figures. I finished the filling and added the gear. I also started painting the figures with the base colors but I need to find out what color the parachute and life vests were in the Regia Aeronautica.

I was able to get some work done yesterday and painted the green base coat. I will apply dots of Silly Putty and go over this with the sand to get the effect I want.

I worked some on the guys and repainted the flight suit green. The vest and parachute will be tan. I'm having a hard time with the mechanics face. I can't seem to get it to look right. The pilot is looking good to me though...maybe a tad sunburnt but.....well they are in the desert after all.

Worked some on my guys last night. Still not happy with the mechanic but fairly happy with the pilot. Does anybody have any product suggestions to cut the semi-gloss appearance? I tried Dull Cote but that is what made them glossy.
I still have s few things to do to them yet.

The detail painting on those pilots is great Steve! As far as a suggestion I don't have anything...suprised Dull Cote would make it glossy like that.

I applied the Silly Putty to the 202 for the camo. It made it look like it had the measles. Next will be the underwing grey.

Thanks guys,

I went back and softened the camo a tad. The edges were just too shark for Italian camo. I'm also finished with the figures except for getting a dull coat and painting the pilots googles.

What would be suggested for the goggle lenses? Silver just does not look right.

For goggle lenses, I just put a drop of Future with a toothpick.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

I haven't had much time this week to work on the Macchi. My brother-in-law suffered a heart attack Sunday and most of my evenings have been at the hospital or previous engagements. I'm hoping to get back to it by Friday and definitely Saturday/Sunday after some lawn work.
I went over the figures with Testors Acrylic Flat using a brush to save AB cleaning time….see above for reasons…..but Unfortunately that wiped out the pilots face colors. I need to redo the pilot’s face but should be able to do better this time. Practice you know.
Thanks to everyone's suggestions.
I also reset my laptop to factory and wiped my hard drive last night. I’m reloading all the software and my personal stuff back on. The good news is it doesn’t appear to have the same Chrome or Edge lock-ups and crashes. The bad news is trying to restore my computer to some semblance of its former self.

My brother-in-law is doing much better and will likely move from ICU very soon.
Colin, thank you for your pointer on the googles. I think they turned out rather nicely.
I had some time last night to work a little on the pilot and I think I’m done with both of them. Hopefully I’ll get some time to mask, paint the white stripe on the fuse and prop spinner.

Thank you Colin,
Tightening up the cinch squeezing the boys?  Wink LOL I have no idea. And I’m not sure what the mechanic is doing in that pose either.

Thank you. They moved from ICU today and he will likely be out in a few days. Now I hope he listens to his Dr. and starts taking better care of himself.

All I got to on Saturday was masking the fuselage stripe.

We received a call from the hospital Saturday morning around 10 AM. The nurse said my brother-in-law relapsed and was having another heart attack and they were moving him back to the ICU. When we arrived they were doing chest compressions and paddles. Once they got him stabilized they inserted a ventilator and he would stay that way for an hour or so and decline again. He would be harder and harder to stabilize and in the end the family said no more heroics. He passed away shortly after 5:30 in the afternoon.

He really didn't take care of himself health wise. He was overweight, smoked, didn't manage his diabetes and in the end the body had enough. Sad thing is he was looking great the night before and he was serious about getting straightened out because this had been a wake-up call. The sad thing is he was 6 months younger than I, he wanted to work out with me at the Cardio/Pulmonary Rehab center, stop smoking and start on his diabetes meds.

Yesterday was obviously hectic due to arriving family and arrangements.

Lesson learned. If I'm going to take that flight to heaven, it will be because God bought the ticket not me.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts prayers. I will be back to the Macchi in a few days.
