Found something that might be of intrest to some of you.

Hit this link to Seawings.

Can't post a direct link for some reason so just follow this.

On the side bar hit references

Next Flying Boats Manuals Gallery

Than PBY-5 Catalina

There are some pix of installing Bombs and Torpedos as well as a lot of interiors.

No updates on my builds as I have been working on something else the last 2 weeks.

Nam! New Job? What happened to your gig at the Play Boy Groto?  Bummer you looked real Eastery in your bunny suit! You have to ask Frank about that Good Guy award. It is actually a punishment for being naughty! I still think Bondo Framed me though!

How does someone LOSE a control yoke!???Confused [%-)] (Well, I did "lose" a canopy once that was made so transparent with Future that.......heck, it was right in front of me all the time....I just couldn't see it!Laugh [(-D]) Why are we working in Stamford?......because it's all that's available.....at least we are working while others in our trade are slowly dying!

Aaron..... Cool Good Guy avatar!Laugh [(-D] The BVD was up early because current working hours on this new job require meself to get up at 4 a.m. in order to beat the CT Turnpike traffic to Stamford. I allow meself an extra hour on the weekend to try and maintain the sked.......and to allow for a little imbibing!Make a Toast [#toast]

Sean! Puh-leeze! Me finish a GB on time????Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] The Helldiver is begun and I shall leave it at that!

Tony! I think I posted something about the wing-half troubles! I've felt your pain! Almost an inch-by-inch process. Glue, adjust, clamp.......glue adjust clamp.......glue adjust clamp....etc! Be sure to paint hidden areas of the W/T floats if showing them undeployed.....I caught that potential mistake just in time!

Sheesh! I recall the weirdest things.........

Ditto, and I've flat out lost the I/P with its decal, and the stupid yoke with the two wheels, but I don't care the bare truth of the matter is you won't see it thru the cockpit glass.

Close up the fuse and the wings, Next big chore is the new nose, and cowlings.

Great to see ya back in fine form Nam! Thanks for the fine words, but it's never easy. Black Eye [B)]

I'll post some more pics soon, slowed down myself on this build last couple of weeks, but I have the fuse closed up and have been gluing the wings together. Ghosh...is it just my kit that's a headache here? The wing pieces just don't line up well front to back on the 1/48 PBY. Took me probably a week of gluing and re-gluing to get something acceptable and it's still gonna need putty. EEeek.

Mike! You bet! TYVM! A very nice Revell Mk II Spitfire in 1/48! I choose to view it as a housewarming gift as it was the first piece of mail I received after moving here! Thank you!

I believe Frankie was having a joke about a tropical paradise. Probably based on the hideous weather CT has been seeing until recentlyLaugh [(-D].

A couple kwik-notes:

Sean! The PBY is underway as of what?.....oh, the 15th of Feb....YAY!Party [party]

Eric: So much great help and info you dispense! Your updates are very motivational.....and the photo refs!

Tony: Doing a great job and making it look easy!Dunce [D)] Fab detailing!

Sigh [sigh]Bondoman.....(J/K) Your progress is heartening.....gives me hope for meself! Thanks for helping hold the fort! I have a used copy of The Mediterranean Caper by Cussler you can have....it's a one-nite read and it's kind of tame by today's standards but still is great fun.

We used to pass Cussler books around the berthing compartment while at sea.

Lastly, for those who missed it and want it.........my address is the same except for the house number and street.

It is now #19 Meadowbrook Dr.

Wingtip floats deployed!

OY! Perhaps I'm REALLY back! (Where is that walking keg of torp juice???Make a Toast [#toast])

Lousy working hours.....catch-up reading here......remodeling kitchen.....you-name-it!

I've been following and have a mile of notes on all the great progress and contributions! You guys are all great!

New home won't allow my old Workbench National Park modeling area.....so I'm going with a meld of 2 computer hutches with a bench level section in between. Found both hutches on Craig's very cheap!

My wireless connection is iffy at times, but right now I'm 80 feet away from the modem....it will be fine when I move the PC to the WB area.

Keep at it folks.....great job you have done working this GB!Thumbs Up [tup]

Thank You!

Good book, but then most of his are.  Just don't read Sahara and then watch the movie.  For many years I've thought about who would make a good Dirk Pitt (as written) and never had an answer, but I think Daniel Craig would be a good choice.  Still looking for Raise the Titanic on VHS.  I think Clive bought them all and burned them as bad as that movie was.  Nice work on the PBY's.

I think there was some earlier discussion about Clive Cussler here. I found "Atlantis Found" at the beach house and read it. Really entertaining, so improbable as to be exciting, pretty silly but also a page turner.

Yeah the floor sits almost directly on the top of the wheel well.

It's not a problem to drop the floor it you are doing a wheels up or non wheel (5) version.

For the 2 I'm working on to install the PE floor I added a strip of plastic under the flooring so the PE has something to sit on since it's held together with 4 tiny tabs.

I then marked off where it will be and cut areas around it and the front so the foot pedal area is over open space like on the real ones.

For the 5 that will be in flight mode I dropped the floor to accommodate both the open door at the rear and a figure in a seat.

In both cases I put the seat on a block of plastic so it's raised off the floor.

I also added the front bulkhead with opening and walkway.

The #2 bulkhead between the cockpit and radio room is missing the openings for the cables to run through on the outer edges.

I hope that doesn't mean what it did in 1975!

Eric, specially because I have the academy kit too, that work of yours is properly all scratchbuilt, and beautiful. The kit, for the rest of you, has a cockpit floor about 1 scale foot below the sides of the cockpit greenhouse, and seats from a 1/72 MG Midget to glue flush on them. Oh, there's a slot down the center of the floor, but the top of the nose wheel well fits up in it. All this in the -5A, but I'd guess the flying boat parts are the same. Nicely done, Eric.

Due to recent GB completions- yes I do and thank you very much- the PBY now commands the bench.

BVD welcome back, we missed you!

Alright, men...

I think it's time for a little Torp juice!  Hopefully, the BVD will be arriving soon as his ship is inbound with another load of spirits!  The keg's be gettin low, and I'm afraid we'll have a mutiny lest we resupply soon!

Well I guess it's time for another update.

Got some painting and construction done on both birds.

One is almost ready to seal up once I get the pilot finished and the seats in.

The other one needs the floors and a bit of furniture but it's getting close as well.
