Alright guys were off and running.  Please feel free to go ahead and discuss or show your kits.  This should provide some time for open planning and input from the group before we actually start building.

I hope to have my pic's of the kit up sometime tonight.Beer

Here's what i have done on the Italeri 1/35th jeep .

The bottom part of the engine is molded with the frame .

The upper part of the engine is molded seperately in two pieces .

i am going to build this jeep with the hood open . I removed the panel with the bottom part of the engine .

Then removed the extra plastic around the bottom engine detail .

Then glued all of the engine pieces together .

And sanded out the seams .

I'll be adding scratch details next .

Carl - Thats a great selection of kits and will provide for many choices for a dio. The work you have done thus far on the jeep is well done.  Fusing that engine together Yes  Will be nice to see the scratch work under the hood.

Bill - Vet went alright.  Last summer my weiner dog had to have a lump removed on her chest and one from the tail.  She had some small ones appearing again but believe will be able to get ride of them with some medication and no surgery.  She will have a follow up after Christmas to see for improvements.

Rob , Bill , Andy ....speaking of dogs i had a scare here . My wife made some decorations foor the tree using Hershey kisses . The 10 month old retriver (i nick named her "punk" , because she is ) got into them and ate about a dozen , not enough to harm her size i found out on the internet but still a worry . That was a couple of days ago and she's good  . Just got me to thinking of all of the chocolate around this time of year and how we all have dogs . The chocolate damages the heart and kidneys and milk chocolate is the least damaging . Take care of them pooches !

WW2PSYCHO - Thats going to make a nice early model Sherman.  Early because it has the bolted glacis and early gun mantle.  From the picture it looks to have no markings, what markings came with the kit?  You were worried about the markings but if done similar to the picture (no markings) you should be good.  Did you find anything from Archer decals?  Do you plan on building out of the box?

Nice choiceYes

Rob,,   glad to hear your guard dog is ok (with just the meds,,,,  whew!)

Carl,,,,  10 month old anything (dogwise) will eat anything,,,      I had a little gal (terrier mix) ages ago that ate a whole chocolate easter rabbit,, a big one....  luckily she was ok, and it sounds like "punk" is going to be ok too.         You're right, this time of year you really have to watch what is laying around that they can consume....  I remember that same little terrier of mine poopin Christmas tinsel too,, the little turd,, ha.

Enjoy the ride!

All the markings are for like italy and over in europe. The turret can be built with or without the machine gun next to the main gun. It will probably be out of the box build. I havent looked into Archer decals yet. I'll look this weekend.

I finally have the body / frame/ suspension all together . I say finally because it took a lot of tweaking to get everything to set straight .

Here's the engine with the scratch coil , distributer , generator , starter ,oil fill tube . Still have more to add .

CARL - Yes, happy to hear "Punk' is doing good.

Thats some nice work with the jeep so far.  Was there warpage or trouble getting it straight because of the cutting out of the engine?  Defiantly an improvement and she looks nice and straight from here Yes  Nice beginning with the scratch work.

BILL - Watch out for those Dangling Tensile Dingle Berries!  That could be a military acronym, DTDB.

ANDY - If you cant wait we will wait for you.  I'll probably still be building when you start.  I'm still waiting for a few extras to get here (Christmas).  Either way look forward to seeing the M8.

Still trying to decide on which vehicle I want to build and how to go about it.  No decision has been made but trying a flame LVT 4 sounds and looks interesting.

Question is has anyone seen or have any good close up pictures of the M2-2 Flame gun thats mounted in the back?  Looking for the gun itself but also the surrounding area to see how it was mounted into the vehicle.  Might be a quite a bit of work, sure it would have to be all scratch built but thought this would be an interesting vehicle to try to reproduce.

Rob , i'm not waiting for Andy . Smile If i do get this jeep finished b4 he gets started i still have other kits to work on anyway . The frame was a little waped and that might have been due to the hacking up of the engine area ..hadnt thunk og that b4 . Good heads up .Yes

Punk is still fine . Noticed some chewed up tin foil in the poop today . I know , gross .At least it didnt dangle from from her . I know , still gross . Non Dangling Tin Foil Excrement (NDTFE) . Ok , i beat that poop subject to death . Amazing what our four legged friends will eat and still survive . I had a German shepherd that consumed a quart of 90w gear oil once . He was well lubed !  Yes , i do feed my dogs dog food . . All this stuff seems to happen when their pups .

That LVT 4 whith the flame thrower sounds like a real nice project Rob . I'll look on the internet and seee whats out there .

Here is the kit I will be building along with the vehicle I plan on modeling.
Scanning the picture to large size revealed some interesting quirks about the LVT-4 “MARDI GRAS.”  It has both styles of mooring cleats, lacks the bow hitch, fortunately has the full length armor plate on the sponsons, has only cab-mounted .30 cals and still has the Plexiglas domes on the driver and a-driver hatches.
I will use Dragon’s LVT-(A)4 to cast/mold the visor to back-date to the earlier armored cab variant than what is offered.  I will use my AFV Club 1/35 LVT-4 gun shields to measure and scale down to 1/72 for the appropriate gun shields.

WIP:
Trying to get my hobby stuff sorted - just moved and still unpacking.
