My Iwo Jima LVTA-4 received a bit more camouflage to the hull sides.  This essentially completes the lower hull, aside from minor touchups where the paint lifted with tape and to even out couple lines.  Weathering should tone down the finish; it looks a bit bright at the moment.

I won’t be making any progress next weekend, I will be in Chino to attend the annual Planes of Fame air show.  But, when I do get back to the LVT I will be applying the camouflage to the topside.

Deattilio- Looking great... that's a very unique camo I have seen so far.  Just let you know I am still following your process.

And...

I hope you will ever forgive me because I did something terrible last Friday in Auburn at AMPS show.

Do you see something that might get you all excited? Stick out tongue  Got it for only $26... I thought it was a good deal and it comes with a set of Marines and they looked good too.

DEATTILIO - Nice weathering and painting!  The worn and wearing paint on the sides of the LVT-4 looks really good.  What did you use to achieve this?  With further weathering this should make a really faded / worn look and is a great and accurate effect on these LVT's.  The camo job is coming along very nicely also.  There were some crazy camo schemes with the large wave pattern squiggles, like how yours is turning out Yes

Have fun at the air show and take lots of pictures.

ANDY - Agree with Carl, your going to need a bigger house!!!  Nice score Yes

A little work was done on the base, just getting the frame built.  Looks like I could have just used a picture frame but I did not do this and instead built my own frame in order to meet certain requirements I was after.  The over all size, a recess or countersink for the foam board to sit into, and the hight which means the space left under the foam.  The space underneath is important because there will be lots of plumbing and a homemade smoke generator mounted.  Dont look like much but here are the pics.

CARL - Thanks man Yes

ANDY - Yes sir, thats what I'm sayin, glad you like it.  This one never really left the bench just taking more time to make some odd things with the base.  Have also painted the "Woodpecker" MG and scratch built a crate to go along with it.

The painting is not perfect but does not have to be because it will receive "burnt" weathering as if torched by a flame thrower as well as the rest of the bunker.  Have also been playing around with the structure of the bunker.  Trying different things to achieve a concrete texture.  Will go with this bunker being concrete, after much more research and with the help of a new book "Iwo Jima" found that almost all the bunkers on Iwo were concrete.

Whatca going to do with that LVT-4 you have there Stick out tongue

Here's my entry for the group Build

Across the litter on Iwo Jima's black sands, Marines of the 4th Division shell Jap positions cleverly concealed back from the beaches. Here, a gun pumps a stream of shells into Jap positions inland on the tiny volcanic island

MARDIS GRAS is finally completed!  Not too bad overall with some good points learned along the way for the remaining LVT4s in the stash.  I will post my finished pics in the Armor Forum as well and provide the laundry list of tweaks made.
