Well, I had some weathering hiccups. Made a litte mess of my headlights, so I'll have to fix them. My casemate started to fall off, so I spilled glue on the hull trying to fix it Bang Head The lower half is done, except for those darn tracks.

Ernest buddy, they just aren't going to work. I'm sorry to have wasted your time. Maybe I can pass them on to someone whom needs them.

So to finish my kit, I now need some Tamiya tracks. If anyone has an old set, please let me know.

Well, I did get an offer today from the owner of my LHS to sell me his Fruil M-13 tracks. I really didn't want to go that route, but since I can't seem to score any Tamiya ones, I might have to bite the $$$ and do it. Bummer really, a $5 kit is turning into a $50 kit. Angry

Eric, man sorry to hear that the tracks didn't work out, but at least we tried so its not a waste.  The Friuls, though spendy, will look much better if you decide to go that route!!    What about MKs or Model Victoria resin tracks.  I think those are less $$??

TD, the PE work is coming along great!  All that intricate detail you're adding is going to make that a standout build sir!  BTW, I notice you primer them as soon as you get the on...what kind of primer are you using?  Or IS it primer?

Jack, what can I say?  The CV3/33 with the tank crew figures is just outstanding!!  The figs really show how little (and cute!) that tankette is!!  Fantatstic painting overall and I'm glad that you managed to fix those little boo-boos!  I can't see anything out of place at all!

Ernest, I'm sorry to have wasted your time my friend, money too.

I think the Friuls will run me around $32-34. I haven't been able to locate any MK's. I'll look up Model Victoria's.

Ernest - Thanks for your comments, glad you approve.  There were actually two road wheels "hanging" in the air.  So I took a pin vise to the axle holes and bored them out a bit so I could insert a heavy duty scriber.  Using that as leverage and a dab of super glue gel, I forced it into place.

Eric - man that is some tough breaks you are having on that tank.  Apparently depothobbies has Kasten tracks for the M13/40.  I'm only guessing though that they should fit considering the Semovente is based on the same chassis.   The Model Victoria ones are a bit cheaper, but again I'm not familiar with the product.

TD - more PE detail, just doesn't seem to end, but I can't wait to see the final product.  Btw I bought a 1/700  scale Littorio 1941 from Great Models (always wanted one so with the 40% discount I couldn't resist).

Jack

Thank you Jack. However, I decided to go with the Friuls for $32.95. I'm going to need a strong lens on my goggles to do them.

BTW, Which would be a better base: enamel or acrylics? Do I need to clean them? Lastly, will I have to use the provided sprocket or can I get away without? My guess is that I'll have to use the provided sprocket which will cause more delays. Angry

Boy am I glad this one ends 5/31, I'd be tempted (if my modeling pursuits continue after the B-36Huh?) to enter a G 55 Centauro.

Ream them out and use straight pins to join the links...friuls are tedious, but not especially difficult. They can be hard on the eyes the way staring at Excel be...after awhile you're eyes get kind of crossed. But nothing near as bad as biplane rigging or microscopic PE adventures.

For paint, honestly next time I do them I'm going to use metal etching primer. Used auto primer last time and it did okay, not great. Over that, I've used Vallejo Track Primer as the base shade since Vallejo has such great coverage. Next time, I don't know...

I could extend it another month? Big Smile That would make it an even 6 months. I should have been done last month. Angry

*edit, the main thread on the GB did say June 30, so Bret, you have an extra month.

Good thing I didn't know that, or I'd probably have started the Re.2005...

Still need to get my Drago figure done...been waiting to prime him when I prime the PV-1 - so in the next few days.

I've seen you strut your stuff. You finished that Cruiser very quickly in the Blitz in the West GB, so i know that you can do it.

OK Eric, the Italeri BT-5 for the Ostfront GB is almost done, so enter me with a Zvedza Carro Armato M-13/40.  I've already got some Friuls for it, but I need to get an AL barrel cuz the plastic one really blows!  I'll try to start it sometime this month!

Yay!

I had to replace my kit barrel as well, it was a POS. That was the only AM I was going to do. Angry I'm kinda looking forward to building the Friuls myself, as I've never done them before. I know they look amazing. It should improve the appearance with some sag as well.

Got my friuls and wondered if I did right. I have to bore out a hole in at least one end of the stupid track and they are tiny. Maybe i should have gone with the MK's.

Not digging these Friuls. They are a pain in the Blank. You have to bore out holes that weren't done very well. I did pick up the pin instead of wire trick, but the pins are too big. I don't think they had a smaller size. They are nicely detailed though. Looking into alternative. I didn't realize that Model Victoria was in Italy. Angry Price is in euros. They seem attractive, because they snap together or so they say.

Dang Eric, you are having the worst luck with the tracks for that kit!  Too bad the Friuls are turning out to be a pain because I'm sure they'll look sweet if you can finish them!  I didn't know the Model Victoria track are click together, I'll have to take a look at those for the M-13/40!

I just placed an order for a JR barrel for the M-13/40....

Perhaps if I were more competant.

Go back a page and look at the two links that Jack sent.

Wanna buy some Friuls?

Eric - sorry to hear about the friuls not working out for you. I've always had really great luck with them, but never worked with any smaller than Pz.III, so maybe that's a factor.

Got Drago glued together last night, save the head. He'll be getting primed alongside the PV-1 tonight.

Thanks Doogs. Did you use pins? How did you bore out your holes? I took the end of an exacto.

Yes these are freaking small, and I just finished the Hotchkiss which were stinking tiny as well. Indifferent I'm glutton for punishment I suppose.

I bored mine out with a pin vise, and typically use the wire that comes with. Mainly because I'm lazy, but once you get it in, it gives them more give.

I also assemble four at a time, then combine the fours into eights, sixteens, and so on. It's tedious, but easier to tackle that way.
