It used to be the kick off for the Christmas season down here, but for some time now the greed of the retail market seems to push it back further and further each year.  This year I don't think I even saw any Halloween decorations in the stores, they just went straight to Christmas decorations.

I've been to England a few times and they spoiled me.  Now the only thing I like is Bass Ale.  I even got to tour their brewery in Burton On Trent.  Great Stuff!!

I think for some it is pure, unadulterated greed for sure, but for most,

they are dying. It's a new world. Bricks and mortar stores,

including our beloved LHS's, are a thing of the past.

Maybe one day WalMart will go bust too....lol...

We have US family so American Thanksgiving has

been a part of our holidays for 25 years now. It's hard to drive down to Ohio, or New York,

or California in the middle of the work week to visit though...

Correct me for sure, but it has been our impression

that Thanksgiving is even bigger for Americans than Christmas,

Xmas, The X-i-Days, X-cetera....did I miss any X's?.....lol...

Halloween is dead up here, as a culture of multi-cultures,

most don't bother anymore. They dress their kids up and

have a party, but Trick r' Treating is dying along with retail.

i wonder why no one tells the City planners we do not need

any more mall space?....

Any ways, I'll try not to drink all that beer myself tomorrow....lol.....

if i do manage, i will be AWOL for a while guys.....

I would not say that Thanksgiving is bigger than Christmas for Americans.  Like I said, it is more like the beginning of the Christmas season.  It is the holiday that most Americans chose to spend with their parents (if they are still living), so there is a lot of people traveling.

I think I heard a statistic not very long ago that Americans spend more on Haloween decorations than on any other holiday.  So it is still pretty big here.

i am wondering if I should modify the turbine posts, or leave them stock. Stock is ugly, but as you car buffs know, it is not about 'better' if it is stock.

that was about 40 hours worth, and he wanted to finish it. He was happy like a kid when I delivered it, but I never got paid for the time, yes I was a sucker. I wish I still had it....

I can't see myself re-doing it. Mind you, I had the saucer planned out as a pretty cool battle cruiser, maybe I should just finish it....in 2018.....

Misery loves company Dom so welcome to the party! BTW I have one pic to include. The longitudinal seams on the fuselage and the wing to fuselage join are worse than I previously thought. This was before putting the wings on but believe me, it's not a pretty sight.  Nothing that a little putty and liquid primer won't fix but being that this is going to be metal finished I have a feeling it won't  be too pretty. I'll load it up and sand as best as possible then lay down some surface primer and hope for the best.

Hi Everyone,

Another weekend spent outside instead of inside at the workbench.  Our electric glass top stove had broken earlier this year and we have been stuck with only two burners.  With Thanksgiving coming up I couldn't put it off any longer.  We had natural gas ran to our house also earlier this year, so I wanted to make the switch from an electric stove to a gas stove.  But that required me running a gas line from one end of our house to the other where the kitchen is.  And 90% of it was outside.  I just got finished and I am wore out.  I still need to run 120 volt AC but that should be fairly easy since I have an outlet just on the other side of the wall.

So tomorrow evening I will be running the electric, then Tuesday evening we will go shopping for the stove.  She (my wife) gets to pick it out.  I am going to also try to install it Tuesday night to make sure it works okay before Thursday.  It will make my life a lot easier around here when I get it done!
