The Dodge  is nice Bruce, I'm looking forward to the next update.

Here's the latest progress on my Hasegawa Draken. I've masked off the yellow top side colour, and done the gloss black underside. I've also started filling in the colour on the undercarriage bays, but it needs another coat.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

No pics right now but I finally decided to have the plane with the landing gears down.  I toyed with the idea of in flight/closed position but decided against it on this one.

So last couple days been slowly cutting/sanding and positioning the underside doors

Ok, finally time for an update. All the decals are now on and I have given it a coat of flat. The nose wheel oleo was to short so I replaced it with a piece of metal wire. All that's left is some final weathering, another coat on the frame work of the glazed nose and add the canopy's and antenna wire. O, and the ordinance.

That's looking really nice, Bish! I like the look of those low-vis crosses, they are a perfect match for the camo you chose!

I decided on what I'll build for this GB:

A 1 /72nd SR-71 Blackbird! Your damn jedi tricks seem to work really well, Bish... Just kidding, It'll be 1/72nd, because there are no kits of this bird in 1/48th, except that Testors kit (I really don't want to build that kit...)

I'm not sure what manufacturer though. It's either Academy or Hasegawa. Any tips on that?

Cheers, Clemens

Thanks wayne, ye I am liking it much more now.

Thanks Clemens, I am really glad I held out for those decals. They really suit the result I am trying for.

As for the SR 71, I have heard good things about the Italeri kit so that's the one I went for, not sure about those other two. But I think I would go for the hase kit myself, unless I heard different.

Nice results, Bish.  The wrap-around camouflage makes it distinctive and different.  I don't think I've ever seen that on a Luftwaffe machine.

Looks excellent!

Thanks Check. That's one thing I like about Luft 46 builds, you can use your imagination a bit. And when I thought of this aircraft in action, it just screamed low level attacks and a wrap around scheme. Just got the figures to paint and its all done.

Hi all,

It's a long time ago since my last posting here about my Airfix spitfire and Dutch fighter/bomber. A few months ago a truck wanted to ride on the same place where I was with my Toyota Starlet. He won...

The car was scrap, and francly I was too. Now I'm back from hospital and all bones and guts are on the correct place again, so I'll continue with both models, mabe even more!

Hope to post soon again!

Cheers,

Paul

Nice to see you back Paul, and all in one piece.

So I take it you won't be picking any fights with trucks in the near future.

Glad to hear you're recover-ed/-ing, Paul.  That must have been a nasty experience.  "Other drivers" are a big problem, sometimes.

Bish, just saw your other Luftwaffe '46 endeavor in the Readers' Gallery (a place I haven't been before).  Nice job on that, and congratulations on being published!

Thanks. I didn't used to go there much, but now I visit every month. There are some great looking builds on there, most of which don't appear on the forum. I did send off pics of another build at the same time, so fingers crossed that get in the mag on the online gallery.

Hey TCE (and everyone else in the GB),

My apologies for the delayed progress pics.  Been crazy busy lately.

So, here is the Yak-3.  After a very hard time working with the small parts, I finally got close to what I wanted to do.  She still needs the paint work done, but I'm getting the details done on her now.  Both models have been painted by hand (I didn't get my new compressor until after I had started them), so the lines are a little rough, but hey....it was cold in Russia when they painted them on! Wink  Anyway, I'll touch up the paint when I get the exterior details finished.  Be gentle on me folks, remember these are my first builds in a LONG time!

Now the IL-10 is doing a little better than the Yak-3, but again, I hand painted it, so it is a little rough.  More exterior stuff then I'll touch up the paint on the IL too.  The rear facing mg is VERY pathetic, but can't justify spending some $ on an AM mg on my "return to the hobby" builds.

They are looking good Eagle. Do those kits have any panel lines, the yak especially looks very smooth along the fuselage.

Yeah I noticed that too.  The body looks pretty slick, now the wings have a little detail in them, but not much.  The IL has more detailed panel lines on the wings, but the body does not have much detail to it either.  I didn't lay the paint on thick either.  I thought about that after you mentioned this, but I remember doing 2 thin coats and that was it.  And I don't remember seeing anything on the body before had.  Almost temping to get another one to see, but they want crazy amounts for this little bugger!  I paid $3.33 for mine! Smile

I think it would take a hell of a lot of paint to fill in panel lines. Its been a while since I had a Heller kit, and I can't recall what they are like.

Give all that and these are your first (of many) 72nd kits, I don't think I would throw loads of dosh on the rear gun. Looking at the undercarriage, it does look like a pretty basic kit, and you could just go silly spending loads on it. But its a great build to hone your painting and weathering on, and your doing a great job on it.

Finally got this wrapped up. Its been a long build, but a nice one. I am really glad to add this variant to the collection.

I finished it off with weathering with pro modeller wash and AK streaking grime. I added two AB 250 bomblet containers from one of the Italeri resin sets.

Thanks for a great GB. I will defiantly be sticking around to see all your builds get finished.

For those who may be interested, I have posted a little tut on how to make an aircraft base.

Yeah, maybe it is just an old Heller kit.  There just wasn't much detail to start with.  I think I'll post a pic of the highly "detailed" mg.

Thank you for the kind words.  Nice little kits to get my feet wet on.  And there should be some form of improvement on the next 1/72 kits I........darn it Bish!  You're doing that Jedi mind trick thing again! Wink

Thank you my friend!

Bish: your 262 is looking awesome! The base adds a lot to it as well. It looks more like 1/48 to me (because of all the delicate details). Thanks for the tutorial as well!

Eagle: I like the look of your planes. The paint is brushed on really nicely (I thought it was airbrushed when I saw them the first time). I wouldn't be able to get such a nice coat of color with a brush! (that's why I have an airbrush!)

Cheers, Clemens
