Ken, the moisture trap I bought is supposed to be installed in the air hose, between the compressor and the airbrush.  Since I'd have to cut the hose to do this, then splice in the trap, I haven't installed it.  It was designed for the Paashe H airbrush.

I was readig up on the moisture traps. one website said the trap has to  be 38 feet from the air compressor, because the air is heated up and turned to vapor. You need that 38 feet to let it cool down.so  when it reaches the trap, it will drain into the trap

I hadn't read that. I do have a compressor with a moisture trap fitted, but I have never had any moisture come out of it when I have released the pressure. But who is going to have a 38 foot air hose.

Actually, the recoil hoses that come with the compressors are 25 feet. And, I have 2 of them because I used a regular extension cord for the 1st compressor. Yea I burnt it up because I didn't know you had to use a heavy duty extension cord. So, now I'm looking into ways of connecting the 2 air tanks together. Would this give me more air? Would that be 200 lbs air? They are set up for 100lbs each.

I'm thinking of putting them in the basement and running a metal air line and the on/off switch up stairs. if nothing else, it sure would be a lot quieter LOL Well I think it would anyway.

Thirty-eight feet of airhose!!! I know I don't have that much with mine.

Somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind, I read that a moisture trap should be as close as possible to the airbrush itself, to prevent any moisture from forming between the trap and the brush.

I wonder if that would make the airbrush clumsy to use?

Oh, and by the way, I received new MicroSet, so I actually got the fuselage decals on yesterday.

But they are BIG and clumsy to apply; nor do they want to slide well.  They want to touch plastic and stick right there.

I think if it was attached at the join of the hose and airbrush it could get in the way. I have never had any issues that I could attribute to moisture. Until I got my current compressor, I didn't have a trap, and now I have one, I haven't noticed any difference.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

After several minutes use, in high humidity during summer, my airbrush spits water droplets.  At that point, I usually close it down for a while.  Sometimes it cures just by removing the AB from the hose, and letting the air blow the moisture out.

It doesn't seem to be an issue in winter.

There is a kind of collector mounted on the compressor itself, with a drain valve and turn handle.  Water does leak out when it's opened, but moisture still gets in the airline.  And of course, when it's open, that's where the air goes, not into the AB.

I don't even know what brand/kind of compressor I have.  The label simply says "Airbrush Depot."  Got it years ago online.

This happens in an air-conditioned basement, with a dehumidifier running.

I've been working late all this week so no time to put in on the Pfalz or anything else; but I did get some decaling done over the weekend.  I need to paint the wings and the struts now before proceeding further.

Hey everyone, just a quick update pic on the Batwing.  She is a pretty good sized kit when you get down to it.  I threw the ruler in there for scale.  She goes together very nicely with little gap issues.  I'm finding I have the opportunity for more detailing than gap filling and sanding.  Hope to be finished soon!

Just checking before I look through the stash for something...

Is this limited to American movies, TV, etc. or will stuff from overseas be okay as well?

Eagle, isn't everything the Batman uses painted black?

And now, I'm seeking some advice.

I've arrived at the point of putting the struts between the wings of Stachel's Pfalz, but now I'm not sure what type of glue to use.

I plan to glue the interplane struts to the lower wings, and use the top wing to adjust the angles--but not glue the top wing.  Then after they are set up, I thought I could glue the cabane struts to the fuselage, again using the top wing to position things.  Then, with all the struts in place and set up, I thought I could just pop the top wing in place with glue.

I suspect that normal gap filling superglue will set up too quickly to allow me to adjust things.  From my experience with it, it always does; part of Murphy's Law, I think:  "whatever glue can dry before you've got the part in place will dry before you get the part in place."  But it's what I use almost exclusively these days.

Does gel type superglue set up more slowly, giving a longer adjustment time?  I don't have any, so if that's a possibility, I'll get some at the hardware store.

Years ago, when I did more biplanes than I do now, I'd have just used Testors tube cement.  But that maybe won't hold so well.

I've even considered white tacky glue or even Elmer's, but I'm not sure that these have the necessary strength.

The plane and wing are covered by a lozenge decal, so anything I glue will glue to the decal, not to plastic.

Does anyone have some suggestion/insights?

Hey Checkmate,  I thought so, but the instructions say dark grey!  Not sure about that.  I might just give it a coat of gloss black.  We'll see.

Ah!  If it is dark gray, then you can use a black wash to bring out the depths and shadows.

Come to think of it, Batman's suit was gray--at least the one Adam West wore.

Looking forward to seeing your choice!

The Academy Awards has a category for Best Foreign Language Films, so It's allowed in this GB as well.

Let me know what are you planning to do Kugai

I got the decals on the Pflaz, and proceeded to glue the struts in place.

Unfortunately, right after I took the photo, the struts collapsed, came off the wing and took parts of the lozenge decal with them.

I have now decided to scrap this project.  It has been a miserable failure.  But I have learned--like maybe to stay away from biplanes!

Ken, I will now concentrate on USS Enterprise from the film "Midway."

Damn, That's a shame, But I do understand. I've had a couple kits like that.

I'll delete the Pflaz from your list. If you decide to do somthing with it in the future, I'll relist it then.

hey Everyone, If any of you remember the Dirty Dozen movie, When Lee Marvin starts to take off in the half-track there is a towed gun attached to the Half Track, He makes Franko un hook the gun from the back. Well I got a gun for it. I can't tell if it's it anti aircraft or anti tank in the movie, So anyhow watch for more posts/pics Today. USPS webite is saying it arrived here in town real early this morning. So I should have it today.

Also, watch for an addition in "The Longest Day" GB as well. Big Smile

Nice addition Ken, I remember building that kit a few years back. Not a bad one from what I remember.

Sorry for my lack of posting, just so much to keep up with. Finally got an update on the droid. I decided to wait on the black until I was doing my B-24, two birds and all that.

I had originally planned to put the droid on its stand as it is. But I think that's a bit boring, so have been thinking about a base. I don't think I will do a Hoth type snow base, to predictable. I was thinking more of a grass and bush terrain, with a conveniently placed bush under the droid. Any ideas.

I Thurs I managed to get the main colour on. The instruction's are not specific, they just say medium to dark grey. So after checking a photo I have of the movies full sized model, I went for RLM 66 mixed with a touch of black.

Next up will be a coat of future to protect the paint before adding wash and filters.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Bish, I think you have chosen.....wisely on the color!  Sorry, a little Indian Jones since it is the Hollywood GB!  Seriously, looks great!  The detail jumps out.  A grassy base!  Perfect!  Like you said, a Hoth base would be too normal........and ain't normal round these here parts!  Stick out tongue
