Yes that would be fine for one... but this a two build GB, so another must also be built to qualify for the badge.

Oh that's just way too pretty!  I love the look of foil.  I've tried it a handful of times but I just can't get it to look the way I'd like it to look.  Mainly, I have problems when it comes to areas like the wing root, where the stabilizers meet the fuselage and other complex curves like that.

Forgive me if you mentioned this already but how do you seal it?  I wonder if Testor's metalizer sealer would work.  Or is there something better?  I've tried using Future but I didn't like how it turned out all pebbly.  I know it was something wrong with my technique but I just don't feel like ruining another model again.

Eric

PS.  Dang it!  I meant to copy the picture of the foiled P-47 in my post.  Bang Head

Theuns, original Revell moldings also qualify for the GB. Including and up to their latest releases such as the Stearman and Ventura.

Eric I have not tried to seal either the aluminum or the decals.  I have a Monogram P-51 that I did 20 some odd years ago with the same technique and it still looks good. The foil is still attached but the spinner and a drop tank fell off if that tells you anything.

Well, it does not sound like we will have more new entries here. Just in case any pop up, I am gonna say a cut off date of no new entries after May 1st, aka May Day. So that translates out to a final close date for any new member entries of November 1st. If anybody has already built their two and wants to add a third (or fourth), feel free to do so.

Thank  you for hosting this build, Stik! I understand that it takes a good bit of free time to moderate these things. It was also pretty successful, with thirteen made builders in the last year. The first one had eighteen, and the second had one, but the build never really had a good chance of getting off the ground. Display your badges with pride, boys; true modelers build Monogram, all others just assemble....

This actually puts a crimp in my plans to add a 1/48 Fw190 to my list.... I should probably stick to trying to finish my mustang though and my Razorback...

CB, let me know what you decide. By new entries ending May 1, I mean anyone who has not started any builds. I bet you can slide in a 190 before November 1st...

Stick

I will be finishing up my second P-47 in the next couple days and then I am starting the 1/48 Bf-109G-10 for the Me-109 GB. Can I cross over?

Chris, if it is the Revell G-10, yes, by all means go ahead.

Thanks Stick! I will press on.  The kit is actually under the Monogram label (90s vintage kit I believe)

Fellow members of the Monogramafia, I'd like to submit a third Monogram gem.  Here is their 1/48 scale P-47D.  Originally this was the boxing of "The Turtle" but I substituted some aftermarket decals.  I acquired the kit from a friend who had it in his collection for quite some time.  As a result, the decals were long past their prime.

The kit went together with no problems whatsoever.  Even the wing roots required zero filler.  The model was finished using Floquil Silver Mist and Old Silver to help break up the monotone nature of it.  In the end, I just wasn't overly thrilled with the outcome which is very strange for Floquil.  I actually gave the whole works a very light misting of MM aluminum.  The black anti-glare panel is Floquil Engine Black.  In the end, everything else was sealed using MM metalizer sealer.

Enjoy!

Thanks guys!  Right after I applied the finish on the plane, that's when I saw the great P-47 that was nicely foiled up.  How I wish my model looked like that one!  I have the Monogram F-89C Scorpion that I'd like to do next.  Maybe I'll try my hand at foiling on that one.  It's nice, big and without too many complex curves to throw me for a loop.

Stik, thanks for adding the picture!  I already had my two Monogram builds completed so for you to add this to the list is a happy surprise.  Thanks!

Ok, I need some help.

Can't decide what to add to my list... the fw190.... that would be easy enough to get done before Nov 1st... But I really feel like doing a Jet. A F-8 Crusader or even a F-14... I even have a Monogram 262 on the shelf.. and Finally... I have an F6F calling my name... Anyone have a preference as to what they would like to see?

Well gentlemen, here is an update on my mustang. All major assembly is done and all filling / sanding & scribing is complete.  As soon as my jar of "Black" Mr Surfacer arives, I will get a primer coat on. I must say I am relieved to be where I am at on this kit. Hope I can make it across the finish line before the bell rings. Have some new pictures, but no time to post them this morning. Will try to get them up tonight.

Chris, you are now "made", but if you could please take a few more photos of the Razorback for the face page roster please! You really don't have any clean background ones like you do with the Bubbletop.

CB, your Mustang is coming along real good now! It does not look like you are too far from the finish line (says the man who drags at that point of a project constantly...)
