Awesome Dave! I have a few M/R cars as well! but main love is aircraft and have most all the classic 1/48 multi engine beauties. One I picked up since being here in Oz is the AC-47, been wanting to build it oob maybe. got the bombers sans the B-29 which would really push space limits, lol that and I cant find one. Will do some plumbin'! lol

ok here is what I have committed myself to at the moment as I started this lil beast nearly 8 years ago and its been in a box since. So going to finish it and let her fly!

i300.photobucket.com/.../image_1.jpg

and the all up weight as of now. Venture to say it will approach if not go over a lil 8gm when finished.

Well I am glad to see that this GB seems to be getting the wind back in its sails. I  was kind of bummed it was ending. Now I might have a chance to actually get something complete :-).

I do have one question Stik. I have a Monogram Bubble top P-47 that I have been working on since I don't know when (pulled it half built from a box about 1 year ago). It is almost complete (I think it just needs a pitot tube!).  Would it be ok to post it here, but not have it count towards anything? If not, I will just post it on the "show us your revel monogram builds" thread.

Hey SimPilot,

I know what you mean!  I've got a B29; lost the instruction sheet for years.  Finally found them, and now have it all together...too dang big to build; I've got no where to put it!!

Cool to see the AC-47 back out....I may have to pick one of those up.  I didn't the first go around and kicked myself in the butt for that.  Got decals and an aftermarket set with the miniguns, but don't want to part with one of my C-47 troop carriers. I may have to bite on one this time; before Revell puts it 'back in the vault' like Disney!!

yeah TAD, I had to have it and was pleasantly surprised that its got extra bits for the parts bin lol as the paddle blade props will be used. so its got the regular set as well.  the passenger DC-3 I have I would love to score a set of Buffalo decals for it.

Good call, GMorrison!  A great little kit from yesteryear.  I think I built 2 or 3 of those back in the day......only wish the infantrymen came with M16s!

Simpilot, I scored an AC-47 on eBay, and hope to have it soon!  Probably won't build it for this build, but maybe somewhere down the road soon.....

Update on Devil Dawg's OA-4M: Got the gloss white in the wheel wells, landing gear struts, and inside all the gear doors tonight. Hoping to have paint on her, and maybe decals, this weekend.

Sorry about that, Stik. Feeling kinda lazy tonight. Here are some pictures of my progress:

Got all the stuff that required gloss white painted. LOVE those little blocks with the alligator clips on them - makes airbrushing small parts so easy. Unfortunately, gloss paints take awhile to dry, so it'll probably be Saturday before I attempt to handle these.

.

.

Temporarily glued the canopy in place with Testor's Clear Parts Cement so that I can paint the entire plane and not have to stuff the cockpit full of paper towels as I usually do. Once I'm done with painting the exterior, I can then pop the canopy off and display it open.

.

.

Got the wheel wells painted. I was thinking about displaying the air brakes open, too, but decided against it. I'll just close 'em up on this one.

.

.

She's starting to look like a Skyhawk now..............

.

.

Got the refueling probe glued on, too.

.

.

Once the white paint dries, I'll add the pylons and drop tanks, then mask the white areas, and start shooting some exterior colors. I'll be using a red Testor's Enamel Paint Marker to paint the red edges on all the gear doors - it works very well for that purpose. On the gray camouflage Skyhawks, the leading edge slat undersides and recesses are the camouflage color - I thought that they'd be red, but all the pictures that I can find show otherwise (well, at least for USMC OA-4M's, anyways).

Thanks for looking, folks. Hope to have more pictures up by late Sunday afternoon, if not sooner.

Ready for OD. I gave myself two days to beat this thing into shape. It is a pretty decent kit, although it would take a lot more work to really make it good.

Nice work G!! I had the OLD Testors M47 when I was about 14 or 15, got upset with mum one day, tearfully mind you, in a huff I sat down on our recliner that was a dark color, where I had put my M47 which was unpainted and that really dark green plastic........ yes, the crying got much louder LOL.

Hey all-

Great builds you guys are working on-sorry I haven't been commenting on all of your builds-but I do look daily and am motivated to work on more Monogram/Revell kits in the future.

Anyway, I've been at a standstill for about a month...or more...no excuses...just lack of motivation....however, I did attach the blower scoop today and put some Future on the dragster body in prep for decals-decals can hide a multitude of sins.....I'm going with the approach that the weekend racers weren't show cars-main goal was to go fast....looking good didn't come into play until corporate sponsorship became the norm.

Motor and wheels are dry fitted-still need to add the 'fiddly bits' as like to call them-steering linkage, wishbones, fuel tank.....engine needs to be wired & plumbed but I'm not sure if I'm going to go that far for this build.....anyway...

Exhaust headers are soaking to remove the chrome-had to rob them from the backup kit-broke the first set-somewhat fragile.

Still trying to pick a second build-but I guess I'd better get this one done first.....Embarrassed

That looks real sharp there Bob. I am more drawn to the older ravening stuff like this from before the days of rolling ads like today. Not to push, but I would live to see what you can do with the engine plumbing. But of course the choice is yours alone.

Thanks Stik-yeah, with that Hemi being out there for the world to see, it begs for ignition wires and fuel lines....kit fuel tank is very lacking so I might steal one from a stash kit...and it needs a fuel pump too...but the research is half the fun!

Here's prog. The M48 is base coated with Tamiya OD with three drops of black (in 1/8" of paint in a Dixie cup.

Then post shade in the darker areas with 6 drop mix, and post shade on the bright areas with straight XF-62. The kit tracks are crap, but I'm ok with that now. I will save my AM for that evr elusive Dragon M48 A1.

The dragster, what a blast. A De Soto Fire Dome V8, 325 HP off the line.

G-I'm enjoy watching your build come together-I have that kit in the stash and you're turning that kit into a jewel.

Thanks Simpilot34-yes, it is a 'classic'-some issues with fit, some details are very nice, other details missing-but all in all, I'd recommend anyone with an interest in '60s era drag racing grab at least one or two of these kits for their stash.

Wish I coulda stayed in this one. Life got busy again. Every time I try to work in a GB it falls apart. Well everyone's work is outstanding!

I still have the B.U.F.F. Stored away exactly as you last saw it a year ago.Dead I will finish it, maybe this late fall when the weather has cooled way off and I have more time. Thanks all!
