I would be up for another one. I'd certainly participate more than I have this time round.

There's Gord for four!!

You know fellas what makes this build so much dang fun for me is the fact that this whole gloss finish thing just keeps getting better and better for me. I am honestly surprising myself time and time again. Some more wet sanding and polishing yielded even more shine but still careful not to go past the clear. This thing looks like a freakin' red mirror in person! So happy with this I could dance a dam jig....

Note: the two ejector pin marks in the radiator are completely covered up by the chrome grill. The BMF'd emblem went on straight (remember the one I cut from the spare hood, sanded down and BMF'd?) and flush.

I am most definitely interested in joining another one. Lots of great inspiration here.

I need ot resume my Lotus 102, which hit a roadblock a few months back.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Hey Mustang, You being down in Corpus, you should go to the Lex and see if they have my Musashi and Indianapolis dio's with the rest of their model collection.

I like it - the gang is getting back together!

Slowly but surely the intimidating open engine is starting to be conquered. It may not be a work of art, but it's getting there... and slowly but surely feeling like I'm getting the hang of this. Still some tricky things to come, but at least will be attempted with some slowly improving confidence. Simply has to push through and improve on these.

Rear suspension is now assembled. Glue still drying on the last suspension arm. So tonight I will touch up some SGB on some nicks and so on. After that a week of RnR, so no progress!

Nothing like pushing the deadline.

Here’s the progress on the GT 350. The paint came out far darker than I originally thought, but I like it. Just need to polish it up and assemble it.

Seabe: Keep it coming buddy! Cool

Steve: Man that finish came out great!! Looks like a dark cherry color!! Yes

Hey fellas, I’ve been pondering a decision that I have just recently had to put into action. I’ve had some personal things at home that have been progressively getting worse and it needs my attention pertaining to my son and school. I thought that things were in the clear and then it took a wrong turn. It’s quite apparent that my attention needs to be focused on that for a while. I spend a lot of time on the forum and enjoy it immensely but that time has to be suspended for a while until my wife and I get all this sorted out. My building, while slowed, will not stop and I’ll pop in from time to time to show progress but I just can’t be on in the capacity that I have been right now. In the interim my friend Joe Rix will be taking over for the next three weeks until the end of the GB. I appreciate everyone’s participation here more than I can say and I hope to make a solid return at some point in the next few months. For those of you who celebrate it, may you have a  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, your host Joe.

Ah that's a tough situation to be in Jose, you gotta take care of home first.  Good luck to your family, and we are here for ya when your ready.

Also, let Joe Rix know he can count on all of us to help out if and when it's required.  He's got some big shoes to fill but we'll go easy on him.

Good luck buddy,

Gord

A Hardy Greetings to You All! My name is Joe and I will be your stunt administrator for the next few weeks. As Joe has mentioned, he has asked me to step in and help him out while he turns his attention to some needed family requirements. To which, I am more than happy to help out my very close friend.

First off, let me just let you know that I am not an auto modeler. Rather, I build mostly wingy things. Yet, this does not preclude me from enjoying excellent modeling in any genre. And there is certainly a plethora of that here. I've actually been following this GB a bit since the beginning and all I can say about you all's car modeling is, WOW!!! You folks can really turn out some stunning car models. Needless to say I am very impressed. Thus, it is my pleasure to be able join in with you all. Also, this is the first time I've ever administered a GB so I do hope you will have some patience with me. In addition, I am not blessed with the greatest amount of free time. I work full time, have other obligations and definitely need my bench time when I can get it. But, I promise that I will do my utmost best. And, yes Gord you are absolutely correct in that I will definitely have a hard time filling the master's shoes. But, hey, I'm willing.

I am truly happy to help out and let's just have some fun.

That is all. Carry on.Big Smile

Welcome Joe!  As I said before, let me/us know if we are able to help out in any way.

How about for starters, let us know what you got planned for the auto GB -it has to have wheels on it. :)  You could always do a jeep.

I'm still collecting pictures but I have begun work on a 49 merc custom I would like to have done before 2015 runs out.  I'm planning on red with flames and it's going to shine.  I swear to god it will shine if I have to use my own blood to make it so.

Thanks Gord. I appreciate it.

Sorry Gord, I'm afraid I will not be building any "four wheelers" here. Just here to help out a friend. Although, if I were to build anything it would likely be a VW. You see, I have access to a rather extensive reference:

This is my father's collection. He passed away 8 yrs ago. We still have some 240 restorable VW's off all sorts.

By the way, there will be no blood letting on my watch.Wink. Seriously, I'm looking forward to your Mercury.

Wow.  What a yard.  I see a couple samba buses in there, always loved those.  That is an amazing collection.  It would be a good spot just to photgraph.  Very cool.

It's a shame your not going to be joining this GB, I always like to see what you armour/air guys can do with a car kit.

Anyway, on to my Merc.  This is a pretty great kit, it says skill level 3 which may be the reason for the extra detail but it has everything someone who is able to do extreme detailing could want.  After the moulded in exhaust/2 piece suspension kits I've been doing lately it was nice to see.  Maybe skill level 3 is the way to go, I dunno.  hey, maybe I'm improving.

I made the little spring using solder, tried to weather them a bit.

Shine! with a bit of a cheat.

Flames!

So that's where she sits right now.  Thanks for looking.

Gord

Nice Gord

It's been a while since I've been able to find time to spend working on the repaint job. Today I BMF the emblems and sprayed the first cost. Plan to add the second coat tonight and the white top tomorrow.

This is where I'm at on the GT 350. The decals are going on and after those are complete, add a coat of gloss and attach the bumpers. Not much of a car guy but it seems the correct sequence.

Gord: Oh yeah. Your Merc is  looking totally boss. Sweet paint job. Funny you should mention taking photos of our yard, we get dozens upon dozens of requests from tourists asking if thet can come in and take photos.

Mopar: Nice work so far. By the way, I think that your car haulers are absolutely epic. I love them.

MC: Fantastic job on your GT 350. Really sharp looking. I  have to admit that Mustang GT 350 is one of my all time favorite cars. Bring it home bro.

Thanks Joe for the comment on my car hauler. I have a 62, 67 and this one plus Im planning on a 70's for the next one. And yes they are all Mopar cars for each of those years. It comes out to be 20 cars on 3 trucks that helps out cutting down on self space.

Sprayed the 2nd coat today and fixed the over spray on the A frame. Next will be to respray the white top. Made a test fit  to make sure every thing still fit.

Ok gang. My son is out of school for the next couple of weeks which affords me a little more time on here than first anticipated. I'll be on here on and off. Ol' Joe and I will finish the year out here.

Gord: That Mercury is looking great so far. Nice shine!!

Steve: Yes sir it seems like you've got the order right and that's a good lookin' Stang. Hit it with a little Novus 1 right at the end and you'll bring out a nice shine and seal it at the same time.

Dan: Man that Moebius kit really looks like it's a good kit. Great color and great finish!!

Here's the last spoiler shots before the body goes on the frame tomorrow morning. Still got about 6 items left to put on but the body is complete!

In this next shot you'll see I stayed true to form with the original Street Demons logo in the rear window. This decal flirted with coming apart but I managed to squeak her into position and then seal it in by dunking the window in Future.

Mopar: That is some stunning work. Beautiful engine and compartment detail. I noticed that this particular build is not on the intro page as I went to look up which kit/car this is. So, if you could give me the details on that I'd appreciate it.

Joe: That is looking magnifecent. You have really done some fabulous painting and detailing. Really happy to see you getting some bench time. Hang in there.
