Thanks Stik. Like I said, I don't know enough about armor to be able to do the right one.

But, I never did the M10 Tank Destroyer which my Uncle was in. And my Dad flew B-26s guarding the Panama Canal

Then theres the x/yb-35 Flying Wing.

If I found the right Tractor Trailer, I could do that. The problem with a big truck is, they didn't go by years on them like they do cars.

Greentracker, the early production T-54 was markedly different in the turret, than the later ones usually seen as models. Somebody else asked about them a few months back and I posted some photos in that thread. If only I could remember what thread it was on here...

An XB-35 would be extremely cool! Do you have the old AMT kit? It's fun.

Let's see what Bish thinks.

Okay, there are t 54 kits, but I'd have to really be sure of which one to get. My knowledge of armor isn't very strong. I'd like to start building armor. Maybe I should do a few other tank/armor kits before I try to do something like this

I read in wiki that there were 3 T-54s built in 1946, The problem with this is I can't find where it said that. So, I won't go by this.

I'll do more research and let you know.

Would the XB-35 propeller flying wing fit for this build? It was devoloped during WW2 and in June 1946, it made its first flight.

Okay, Pencil me in for the Soviet T-55 1:35 scale. I'm not sure which manufactorer I can get, I'll let you know more on this at a later date.

Ken, i am not to sure about the 55. The T-54 only enetred service in 1946, the 55 only coming along in the late 50's. If there is a kit of the 54, or a 55 than can be bult as a 54, that would be fine. Would be greta to have you on board if you can.

wayne, be nice to se that 264 get finished. let me know what you decide.

Dan, nice to have you on board.

Hay Bish I would like to enter in my 1/35 Academy T-34/85 Russian tank.  Picked up this new kit for about $36.00 USD at my local hobby shop.  This'll be my first Russian tank.

Bish

I am tempted to make a comment about the scale, but I will resist. Big Smile

What kit brand is it.

resist you must. there is only One True Scale

I'll  join with a Luft '46 winged thingie or i could get back on my ME-264, it's not very far along and needs A LOT of structural support. or a K-5 RR gun carriage with a V-1 or V-2 Launch assy.

CD: Whoa! Just missed it on that one. I'd thought about picking up the kit but have the older Classic Airframes kit of the Hornet. And since I bought the thing now I feel I'm bound to build it.

Terry: Now that's cool! After building the railgun that's going to look cool on the shelf next to it.

Aaaaa! More Panzer Gray!

Well, it 1946, it can play into it how ever you like. A railway line close to a PoW camp is not that far fetched. The Allied soldiers could have begun an escape attempt as allied forces were approaching and the Germans were trying to repel them. A good thing with the What If idea is that we can have any number of scenarios as to how the war played out.

I do Bish, its etched out and includes a POW Camp and an Allies escape. I'm thinking on calling it "A Great Escape".

I know, how does an armored locomotive fit into this, well as I get working it'll play itself out. (I Hope)

Gamera

I'm sitting here at work at lunch and bored so I figured I'd pinch GAF's list and add a few subjects of my own. Here's a bunch of models of hardware that either saw very limited service or missed the war plus a few paper projects. Not to speak for Bish but I think all of them would be workable.

*Hurm* I saw this kit in the bargain-bin at Hobbytown in Fresno a few weeks ago. Had I known, I would have picked it up. And Fresno is a bit too far away for a return visit.

My vote would be the E-10.

------------------

I notice mention of the 'what if' element and wondering how this pertains towards schemes and markings.  I am thinking, regardless of whether or not the country actually fielded a particular equipment, the finish should still reflect 1946, and can't be coloured as it appeared say in 1948 or 1950?

regards,

Jack

Makes sense to me, though I don't know if there should really be a rule. It is '46 after all, and we should have some freedom to mess around.

GM, got your builds added, glad to have you on board.

Moff, Jack, thanks for the votes. Voteing is open until the GB starts.

Jack, well, within reason. With Luft 46 builds and Paper Pz's i like to take the colours they used and evolve the actual schemes into how it may have appeared. Of course, with machines that actually entered service, its hard to say how the colours would have changed. And from what i can see, many of the schemes used at the end of the war were still in use in Korea, maybe with some alteration.

Gamera, from my limited knowledge of none German subjects, i think all of those would be ok. I know the IS-4 was in use. I can see a couple there they were versions of production machines and otehrs certainly look like they would fit. Thnaks for posting those.

BD, got it added. GM, no, the B-50 would be fine. The order for the B-29D was placed in 1945, I think that good enough to count this one. And look forward to that P-80 as well. Just send me any kit details and I will put you on the list.

As a possible second build, a B-50? But the production version didn't fly until 1947 (no prototypes).

Anyways, def on the P-80.  I am going to probably backdate a P-80C to an A, but it's not a big difference unless the rivet *** descend on me for 6 spoke wheels etc.

You know you will be more than Welcome to join in with as many as you want. But like you I am trying to avoid over committing myself. I am actually tying to squeeze in a build that won't be GB related at some point.

You and me both. So far this is the only GB for next year I have joined. I intend to keep it at a very low level with GBs this coming year.
