Right guys, i am going to ask all who have and will join this GB for a favour. I am already commited to one aircraft, the Ar 555. But i also plan to build a Paper Panzer. But, i am having trouble decideing which one. I have narrowed it down to 5 from all the kits i have that would qualify. So, i am asking you all to vote for which one you would like to see. I wil leave this going until the GB starts and than count up the votes. Just say what you would like to see in a post.

So these are the options, all 1/35th of course.

3 Trumpeter kits.

E-10

E-75

And E-100 Jagdpanzer

One Dragon, the Flakpanther Coelian.

And last, from Ammusing Hobby, the Lowe.

Which ever i buld will be as a diorama. I have dio's planned for 2 of them but not the rest, so i might have to get my thinking cap on and the wallet out.

I'll leave it to you.

Voting closed. E-100 Jagd it is.

Bish, this is one that I really want to partake in. I have multimple kits in my stash that would work, so just put me down as a To Be Decided for now...

Thanks Brandon, I have updated your entry. I saw the Prvni Doma and was not sure if that was a brand. Sounds like a great pair, I know hasegawa do sets like this in 72nd but never seen an Eduard one. And some nice history as well.

Bish- this is the Eduard 1/48 La-7 kit.

Just FYI the kit is a dual combo boxing that has the La-7 and the Zvezda La-5FN kit with resin tires, PE and a lot if decals and other stuff. It's the Prvni Doma set, which means "first home." The La-5FNs were flown to forward airfields in Czechoslovakia and operated out of there by Czech pilots in 1944. It includes markings for something like 27 aircraft between the two kits, and a book with history on all the planes included and most of the pilots. Unfortunately the book is entirely in Czech. Google translate's app is nice, but gets only about 70% of the meaning. Sounds like a really cool bit of history I hope to learn more of. Again, for this build I'll be doing an La-7 in the markings it wore in 1946.

I have edited the opening post to open it up to real 1946 builds and clarify the post war use of equipment so it does not just mean in Korea.

Terry, love to have you on board, just send me the kit details and i'll add you to the roster.

ajd, ye, that would be nice. Was hoping we would get one of those. Again, send me the kit details and i can add you.

GAF, no problem, no one has to commit straight away. Entries are open till the end of the GB. It could be operating out of the UK against mainland Europe after the D-Day landings were repulsed. Or from France after the Ardne's offensive was successful and delaid the German defeat. Which ever scenario you want to come up with is fine.

Bruce, yes, they would fit. I have some Trump paper Pz's as well but not sure which to add as my second buld. I am planning on opening it up for a vote. Likewise, no rush to sign up. I am only commiting to 2 GB's at a time from now on, the one i am building for and the next one. So get those otehrs finished and jump in when ever your ready. Its nice to have the builds spread through the year rather than all at the start.

Johnny, got you added, glad to have you on board.

Jack, yes that fine. Sorry, that is a bit confuseing isn't it. I was just trying to use Korea as an example, but i can see how it looks. I'll edit that.

Cat daddy, i have had a good think on it. The IAF markings would not work as the State of Israel did not exist until 1948. Unless your thinking of an Israeli unit flying with allied forces, so if it had Isaeli markings but a USAAF type scheme, that might work.

I'm in. I've been eyeballing Corsairs lately, so that's a possibility. Another option, assuming it fits within your parameters, is a B-17G with IAF markings - they were used in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. (Aside: I love how this hobby so nicely dovetails into my interest in history.)

Right, I've got a question on the first category for meeting requirements:

Bish

1) Anything that was in service at the end of the war and could in theory have still been in use a year later. But it should have some sort of What If element to it. A B-29 in 8th AAF markings or a late war German fighter in a new scheme. If somthign went on to serve during the Korean war, it could look as it did then, such as ships with up grades.

As I understand it, any equipment used in 1945, but also appeared in the Korean war is fair game.  Now, what if it is an improved or upgraded version that historically appeared in 1947-48 which is well before the Korean conflict?

regards,

Jack

Bish,

I have several of the Trumpeter paper panzers and the Fine Molds Type 1-5 Japanese tanks. I believe any of these would fit.

I will let you know if I decide to join, I still have two GB's to finish before the end of this year. One being your Star Wars GB. Granted there will be time in 2016, but I still want these two GB's finished before I make the commitment.

Thanks,

 Bruce

Bish,

Wanting to see how things are going by January, but would be interested.  The only thing I seem to have in my stash (and in my financial situation, I can't run out and buy something) is a Revell P-47N, which would certainly fit the bill.  I just wonder who would have been using the P-47N by that time.   At a guess, probably stationed in Okinawa or a forward base, making ground attack missions on the Japanese home islands.

I have always wondered how cool a P-80 would have looked with the blue/red diamond nose of the 356 FG...

How about actual 1946 builds? I have an La-7 from the boxing below that includes markings for a Czech bird in 1946 that I'm itching to build. I guess the "What if?" aspect of it is would the Soviets have let the Czechs fly under their own flag if the war had continued? Anyway, I'd love to include it if fits within the rules.

Ye, thats fine as it fits eitehr way.

Awesome, then I am in for sure. Can't wait to get started (but will, of course).

I'm in!
Sounds like we are going to have some great builds and some very neat looking models Cool

I have an Arado 234 in the stack of "I'll build this some day", time to dig it out.

Would theoretical builds be ok?
What if Germany had a working nuclear weapon in 1946 and the 234 was carrying the payload?
How about a 234 with Schräge Musik, the upward firing autocanons seen on BF-110's?

Would those be valid entries or just keep it to what's in the box?

Also I picked this up a few weeks ago and it seems like a group who will want to track it down, it's full of great info, diagrams and pictures. Very neat stuff.

Ye, what if's are fine. I do all my Luft 46 builds in What If operatinal schemes and i am adding a nuclear load to my 555. I take it you have the Anigrad set.

Have added you to the roster. Welcome aboard.

Grats Bish on getting this one going.  Still looking at ideas, but strongly considering a Seafire in Canadian markings as Canada was given some carriers at war's end.

Now I was thinking of building a mark 46 that had the contra-rotating props (very important fix to carrier take offs as torque would pull the aircraft to one side), but from what I read this was introduced only April 1947... but perhaps more duress to get this designed earlier if the war was still going on in '46?

btw historically, Canada never received Seafires beyond the mark XV type, so another what if there.

Jack

Hi Bish

That's the one. The last aircraft the Martin Baker company made before concentrating on ejection seats.

If flickr is giving you a hassle give tiny pic a shot, I've got no complaints with it Smile

Well, you know what I'm building....Trumpeter's 1/35 12.8cm Waffentrager. BTW, I'm having trouble with getting the static URL for Flickr photos, but hopefully I can upload some pics of the JS-3 for the '45 GB soon.

I found the kit in a storage bin tucked away in the furnace room.
Monogram Pro Modeller 1/48 Arado Ar234C-3/4

This kit is setup with recon cameras and optional 2205lbs bomb.

The crazy thought of this being used as a possible nuclear bomber might not be far off.
Looking through the variants and proposed variants it is possible it could have carried something with a lesser blast yeild than "Little Boy"(15KT @9700lbs) or "Thin Man" (??KT @8000lbs).
A stripped down single seat version, with no guns and landing ski as found on earlier versions instead of the tricycle gears, could probably get close to carrying something in the the 10KT and under range.

Hey Bish, thanks for hosting this!

I assume this would be kosher by rules 2 and 3?
