OK... Let me start and try not to forget anyone, its not intentional if I do...

Bish, Andy, Toshi, CMK, Brandon K.. Thank you all very very much. Again, I try to share tips with others because others were kind enough to share with me... You guys are all very kind.

Greg... Com'on , course we're gonna build together here... It's me... How many GBs can I stop at just one? Lolol... Already talked to Bish about the next! By the way... The gaps were fairly easy to close up with putty. I just tape along each side close as possible to the gap and fill w\putty and smooth with acetone to cut down on sanding.

MC, yes, Airbrushed. I just turn up the pressure a tad and start in the center of the panel and get lighter as I work out, so as to leave more color around the edges of the panel. You can hit the decals too to take the shine off them, or just hit with dull coat to tone em down. You said your AB is down? hope it gets back soon.

Thanks to each and every one again!

Doug

Wow...the quality of the work here is astounding, that cockpit, the paintwork....all of it!  I'm glad I won't be working at the same speed so that my stuff wo t be directly compared! Lol

I have started to glue up the fuselage,  but the next two weeks are busy for the Ryan family...cub scout camping trip, several hour long online courses for my Toyota certification,  and one holy communion achievemen and reception.   I'll be back to building soon....

Thanks for filling me in on the wing gap, Doug. And I'm glad you are already talking about your next one (model, not wing gap Wink).

Armornut... The first time someone said silly putty for masking, I thought yeah ok, it'll RIP paint off, leave oily stains, ... But I picked some up one time and tried it...Lolol... Great stuff! Works like a dream! Love it! The cool thing is if you don't like the pattern after putting it on... Take it off and reshape it. Now again, I don't know how it does with other then acrylics...but still, does what I need it to do.  Thanks for the kind words...

Greg... Looking forward to seeing some of your work again!

Well after over a week, the decals are finally done. This was not just down to the number of decals, though there are a lot. But a few things kept me away from the bench, not to mention the seam underneath the fusleage belw the tail spliting half way through which needed fixing bacxk together and then re-painting. But, after all that, its finally done. And if there are one or two missing, to hell with it.

So next up will be a ligt panel line wash, i tend to keep this clean, followed by a flat coat and then add finla pieces. So hopfully can wrap this up over the weekend.

Thanks guys.

Greg, yes, it did. Construction and painting was rather quick, just the decals slowed things down a bit.

Airfix's Hampden (1/72):

Interior of the fuselage, painted in the unfortunate Interior Green

Crew area parts installed for the most part; some will have to wait till after the painting; the twin Lewis guns were a little tricky to assemble due to vague instructions; fortunately someone elsewhere on the web had built a Hampden, and posted a clear photo

There were a couple of spots aft of the bomb bay where the fuselage pieces were sunken and didn't line up so well--leaving a step from one side to the other.  I laid a piece of styrene rod in both locations, top and bottom, then saturated with Tamiya cement to build up the area; then I added CA glue and sanded things down

When I touched up the bomb bay, I sprayed on some black to check for imperfections on the bottom, where the misalignment was worst

Finally the crew areas; I made a seat harness from masking tape, but didn't add any more detail, since the canopies are pretty thick and won't permit much viewing inside after they're in place

Your making a good job of it check. I can see why those MG's would be tricky.

Wow.

Those last three pages went by quickly !   . . . and the roster grows - cool !

No change in my build, but I just have to admire all the work being done here.

Great interior work CMKing, Justin, BrandonK, and Toshi.   I'll be keeping an eye out for that Hampden kit to add to my british-designed-twins collection.  Some of those old Airfix kits build up quite nicely with a little extra TLC.

Bish - the canberra looks great.  Super crisp finish and nice job on the decals.

Doug - really nice painting and fading.   It's nice when decals snuggle down like that.

Tony - the pilot and setter figures have cleaned up well.  They look nice already.  Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Hi Bish,

As we discussed, I'd like to add this kit to the GB.

My plan is to build it as an aircraft flown by 453 Squadron RAAF, based at Skeabrae in the Orkneys in 1942. 453 Squadron was an Article XV squadron operated within Fighter Command. I'll use Red Roo Models decals for it.

The kit itself is started, as I did most of the cockpit a few years ago. The engine and engine mounts are done purely to add structure to the nose, they won't be visible in the finished model. Here is the current status.

The next step is to do the harnesses, and investigate what else  I hadn't done to the cockpit.

Given the harsh climate of the Orkneys, I think this one might have to have a decent dose of weathering.

Thanks

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Doug: Lol, my same opinions of Silly Putty. When I first heard about it I was thinking 'WHUT!?!' but now I can't do without the stuff.

Bish: Another great job there, looking forward to seeing her finished up, you're so close now!

CMK02: Looks good! Clever solution to the sinkholes. Idea

Tony: Great start on the Spit. Looking forward to seeing more work on those cool figures too.

Thank you all for the very kind words... Gamera, yeah to look at it and think about the silly putty, it kinda gives you the chills thinking about what it will do when removed. BUT... as you said... cant do without it now!

Bish, Canbera coming along nicely, Very 1st gen. looking aircraft, but what a job it did! Love that tail marking you chose! Toshi , That pit is coming out GREAT! CMK, that is going to be a cool looking project when done... watching with interest.

Little bit more from me, the finish is drawing near, and I have to fight rushing...

Both sides about done now. I left the tail end undone in this shot just to show the contrast between the steps.

Canopy, car door and all weathering done now. I like during paint and weathering to use a Lazy Susan to work on so touching is kept to a minimum. I for one just simply can not work with latex gloves on.

Just another view.

OK, shes on her feet and just about done... Just a tad more to do, and I'll likely have finish shots on the next posting. Thanks all, and have a wonderful day of modeling!!!

Doug

Beautiful work Doug. What did you use for the chipping?
