Making good progress. The coloring on the seats, detail of the dash and worn paint look great.

Modelcrazy, that T-72 looks super.

Here is the interior of my BTR

Next is the top part of the interior. Not sure which colour will I use for exterior, maybe some sand colour that I have seen on photos of BTRs in Afganistan.

Cheers...

Hey Steve, looking forward to seeing that water diorama.  Based on your float plane dio, you certainly know what you are doing.

Griffin, that tank is coming along well.  I know how you feel with the "bits that need to be added". I seem to always manage to get away from the build "plan", and end up doing things out of order.  Case in point, gluing the machine guns on the KV-1 before drilling them out.  Always harder on the tank.

Slowly working on the F4F, so it may be a while before I have updates, but some work on the tank may occur instead of "watching the paint dry" on the plane.  Big Smile

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

Steve,

That is going to look amazing! I can't wait to see it completed. I have been meaning to ask you this question...Do you use a utility knife or some type of hot wire iron to carve the waves or ripples in your water dio's?

Hunter,
I cut out the wake using and xacto knife and make the waves by turning the base upside down and melt areas with a lighter. The ripples appear after I apply the wet strips of paper and cover them with the medium acrylic gel.
This dio won't have a "wake" per say but will have small waves and ripples. The jet spray rooster tail will be made from cotton.

Alright then, thank you Steve. You make it sound so easy LOL.

Thanks Gamera. I am also going to add fuel lines, that I should have done before paint, to the auxillary tanks which will add even more paint chips to the project. I think I am just a dumbass. Haha.

That looks really good Griffin.

Maybe you left the handles off so you wouldn't knock them off while painting? Wink

Thanks Tony. Yes you're spot on. I'm trying to prevent paint build up so the wheels go on smoothly.

Hi Griffin, Your paint work is looking really good. One quick question, do you mask off the axles to provide an unpainted base to attach the road wheels to, or is there something else going on ? Cheers Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Ok I'm making good progress. I have most of the parts on and some more paint shading. I need to do some washes and detailing now. I also want to put some detail, handles and latches, on the hatches. In hindsight I sould have done this before paint. I'm not very bright at times.

Griffin: Those do look really nice!

Wayne: Thanks for the tip. Going to look up those 'Soviet Storm' videos. Love all this new stuff coming out recently dispelling a lot of the myths about the Eastern Front.

Great site here with formerly untranslated Russian documents and files on armour and other military subjects:

http://tankarchives.blogspot.com/

Still plugging away here. The kit came with a full loading of ammo and I've been cleaning up 85mm shells all week...

And last night watched a South Korean movie 'Northern Limit Line' on Netflix about an incident in 2006 where the North opened fire on and sank a South Korean patrol ship killing a half-dozen crew and badly wounding the rest. According to the movie the North Korean navy mounted a T-34/85 turret to the forward deck of one of their patrol ships (yeah it looks as nuts as it sounds).

I watched the first two episodes of Soviet Storm on youtube.  They were excellent, and well worth the time to watch.  This series is definitely not propaganda, and I was a little surprised how honest they are about Soviet mistakes.  I will probably PM you at some point for book titles.  Thanks for the post.

I will be disappointed if you do not PM me Big Smile. Russian Civl War is fascinating. I used a lot of SOVIET STROM videos in my Eastern Front class. I may break it into 2 if i can get "approval". i have 4 shelves of Eastern Front books plus a bunch of wargames (which are like books).

PS the HobbyBoss BA-10 is TINT i am used to modern 6x6s and 8x8s. I do have the entire suspension and engine done and, since i do a lot of modern trucks, it is not an issue. The BA-6 will be faster and in Republican Spanish Civil War colors.

Thanks bud. I am leaving them the way they are shown. One green and one blue and white like they picked it up along the way. Adds a little flavor.

Great looking rig ya have going CN, I have the same issue with my "Terminator" , cut a piece off the sprue, it broke, i knew I could fix it and it is kinda buried in the engine deck. Well I had my optivisor in place, tweezers with part dry fitting so I had the angles right, and PITHUE, exit stage right at just under the speed of light right into the gapping maw of the carpet monster. Pictures WILL BE POSTED of my progress today or tomorrow. Great work so far though.

Love the fuel drums Griffin25, they look great. If I wasn't so anal I would leave the blue and white one civilian. It would make an interesting visual effect and tell abit of a story for the vehicle. Just my thought though.

The first WIP pix. The undercarriage is done, minus some handles and steps which are too fragile to be instaled now and one small part that has been the victim of the great void. It fell out of my hands, never to be seen again.

Overall, we are looking at some 100 parts here.

Looking good bud. That kit is very detailed. You will find your lost part when you are completely finished and it is sitting on the shelf for a couple years.

LOL...and when I find it I'm gonna glue that little sucker right where it belongs to even if I have to repaint the whole model Big Smile

Working on the ancillary parts and fuel drums. I am going to attempt to scratch build some fuel lines later. Also some handles and latches for the hatches. Not my strong suit but I'll worry about that later.

I'm done with the T-72. I will try to get to the PT-76 at some time.

I will be relocating to Dallas in a couple of weeks because the transplant center wants to put me on the lung transplant list. I will be bringing some kits and my tools so I will be able to continue to work on kits. I will be down there from 6 mo to a year or more.

Here it is. D use the first pic if you think it will work for the wall.

Looking good there CN. Gotta love those overly complex suspensions that you won't even be able to see unless you turn the model upside down. Then again, I'd rather it be there than to have it simplified.
