Gamera...LOL!  I was thinking the same thing!  As I was putting the pilots in, I thought it looked a lot like the Magnum P.I. chopper.  

Magnum PI, now thats a blast from the past. I am surprised that have not broiuyght that one back with a movie. Would be nice to see that chopper G.

Theuns: Oh wow, not sure I'd have the guts to cut and modify the instrument panel like that. Looking forward to your results. 

Bobby & Bish: Actually there's a remake of 'Magnum' in the works right now...  

Bish: I have to ask though- actor John Hilderman who played Higgins was a Yank. I'm guessing from a UK perspective his accent probably had a lot of things that were 'off'. Just wondering if you guys ever just sat back and laughed about how messed up his fake accent was at times? 

Just looked it up....wonder if they will have Tom do a cameo.  LOL!

G, well, that does not suprise me, they seem to be re-booting everything from the 70's and 80's at the moment.

After spending 12 months  in the US as a child I came back with a slight accent. And the guy who dose the FSM videos is an Aussie, lived in the US for many years. On of the hardest English accent to replicate is an Australian accent, apart from native actors I'm yet to hear a convincing one spoken.

To this day I still cannot convince myself that Hugh Laurie off "House" is the same Hugh Laurie off "Black Adder" and "Jeeves and Wooster".  They just sound too different.

In the UK hardly anyone can repliacte the Norfolk accent, the only person i have heard do it right is comedian Jim Davidson. Anyone else who tries to do it sounds more West Country. I guess some accent's are just harder to put on than others.

A lot of people slate Russell Crowe for his accent in Robin Hood, but i thought he did quite well at it. It was nice to hear some one make the effort to do a reginal one rather than the standard posh accent or cockney we usually get. But i am sure it must be the same in America. It will be easier to replicate some accents more than others.

And of course in movies, they have to make sure everyone can understand it.

What about Kevin Costner's accent in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves ? The international people I work with say that my Aussie accent is very thick, and  hard to understand. I don't get it, I can understand me perfectly well !

I think any issues in his accent were lost in their problems with geography. One day to get from the white cliff's of Dover to Nottingham on foot is impressive enough, but then to end up on Hadrians Wall requires a series error in navigation.

I was born in England to parents with English accents. Dad was from the north. Moved to U.S. when I was a infant. I still had a accent until about 5 years old. The last time I went back to visit relatives i was there for two weeks and came back with a accent that lasted a month. Both my parents have passed but they still had their accents a little washed out but....

Well you guys need to come hear how we talk here in South Africa...we have 11 official languidges (I cant spell in any of them it seems!) 

I have an english spealing mom and Afrikaans dad, so we are sometimes mistaken for being Auzzy (Krykie!!)

My engilsh side comes form Scotland and England, my other side from Holland and Germany so you cant really get a wider mix than that!  LOL

Lol I had to ask because as an American Southerner I'm come pretty much to the conclusion that's it's almost impossible to duplicate unless you grow up here. Every Hollywood actor I've ever seen try to duplicate it ends up with a horrible fake hillbilly accent or a bad Rhett Butler impersonation. Until I saw Karl Urban as Doctor McCoy in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies. The movies were terrible but Urban as a New Zealander nailed the accent! 

Irish actor Colm Meany, who played Chief O'Brien on Star Trek Deep Space Nine has a hilarious video on YouTube where he talked about moving to Hollywood and being asked over and over 'why are you toning down your Irish accent?' and explaining because we don't talk in that over-the-top lilt that Hollywood sticks us with in every friggin' movie!!! 

So with poor accents out of the way I have some updates.

I used the Eduard colour photo etch to enhance the IP. I have found that the Eduard colour PE to be very glossy and requires a dusting of a matt finish.

The same sentiment can be said for other cockpit area where I used colour PE.

The pit after a dusting of dull coat and some dry brushing.

I'm pretty happy with the results so far, this old Hasegawa kit has sufficient detail in some areas and in the ones it doesn't  the PE fills the gap. So next will be fuselage married together, wings more PE and polishing and masking the canopy.

Great work on the pit damo. I agree about the EduardPE, i do find it has a shine to it.

Yeah, that looks great!!! Is that Eduard's ZOOM set? I love those, it's waaaaaayyyyyy better than I could paint the instument panel and it's about all the PE I'm willing to go though the trouble to apply. The seatbelts look fantastic too, I can never get mine to lay down in a believable way like that. Looking forward to seeing her together! 

Still waiting for my PE seatbelts here, will get more photos up then. 

Bish - Thanks mate, I do like Eduards PE, but would love to try some thing different next time.

Gamera - Cheers buddy, i have the same feeling towards the look of the IP. But as I mentioned to Bish, I would like to try another tact on another build. Just to clarify, the seat harness is not solid PE, this is a HGW Models fabric belt set made with a dozen or so PE and fabric components, I will most likely use them for most future builds. They take a far bit of effort to make, but the results talk for themselves.

Damouav: Ahhhh, sorry! I expanded the photo and I can see them more clearly now. I bought a set for my 1/32nd Zero and they do look fantastic. But I too haven't had the guts to tackle them in smaller scales. 

Thats looking really good Damo. The aftermarket stuff adds a lot of realism, as does your work to blend it in and weather the cockpit.

Thanks Tony, it just by luck that the MRP cockpit green is almost a perfect match to the PE. We spend all the time to do this work, most will never be seen again once its closed up.

I have switched completly to HGW for 32nd scale builds, i am not sure i would have the nerve for them if they did sets in 72nd, they are tricky to use, but the results are great.

 

I dont have hair to pull out, so I will avoid 1/72 sets... It was a struggle  to make the 1/48 set.

And yes, they are great.

Here's my interpretation of how the CAF would have painted Apaches. Years ago I adapted the Griffon pattern to a Cobra, and adapted that pattern to the Apache.  This project was my first use of Silly Putty to mask.  I'm pretty happy with it.

Next step is decals.

The office in the Mirage is black, now that presents me with a problem as it will hide all the lovely resin detail so I went for tamiya "rubber black"

It is not as "harsh" as normal matt black and I can still drybrush some areas and do a black pinwash in others to give some tonal difference.

For the exhaust I used alclad burnt iron and highlited the pettals with a graphite pencil to look "metal" the pix dont really reflect the look as well.
