Bish,

I recieved my decals and have decided to make the Mig-21 of the Nigerian Air Force. Now to do more research on the camouflage of these aircraft. Funny, the decal instructions tell me the aircraft is painted beige and dark olive green.

Edit: Even funnier, I just found I already had a set of Nigerian markings made by Afterburner. I remember looking at this set when I was going to make an Indian bird for this GB! It's OK, you can never have enough decals, right?!?!

Hi Bish,

Another great subject for a GB!

I wonder if I could join please, with the AZ Models 1/72 Curtis Mohawk Mk III.

I have ordered a set of SAAF decals of one based in South Africa in 1943.

Best Regards

Mark

Bish,

I have decided upon what I will build.

1/48 Hasegawa P-51D depicting an RAAF 3 Sqn P-51IV (K) flown in Italy from 1944 to 1945.

This kit has been in my stash for many many years.

Will use AM Ultarcast seat and wheels, decals from Red Roo Models,  HG Models seat belts, Eduard photoetch cockpit, airframe and mask set. May also require an additional prop set, but need to look into that.

So, let the build begin...

Thanks

Damian

My wife can either mail it when she gets home or at some point after 3 months or so, I may be able to go back for a visit for a couple of weeks. I could bring it back then.

Bish I would like to join in with a 1/48 Tamaya Swordfish Mk.1 from the Arch Royal 1941.

I need to have it shipped from Boise first.

I hope a FAA Stringbag will fit this GB.

If only you would have known a few weeks ago, your wife could’ve brought it with her!

Even though we ran out on the Empire a couple of centuries ago, I'd like to join in with a 1/72 PBY-5, non-anphib., 'The Wanderin' Witch".  RNZAF, Flt Lt Scholes, 6 Sqn, Halavo Bay, Solomon Islands, 1945.  (at least according to the decal sheet info)  Kits World decals, but otherwise OOB.

Kit will be either Academy (have to fill the gear recesses) or possibly an old Revell offering that looks to not have the gear openings.

Will be a late fall start.

Bish - I'd like to commit to building a Bronco 1/48 JF-17 of the Pakistani Air Force.  I'm not much for the modern stuff but this bird looks pretty cool!

Rob, wil be nice to see anotehr of those Airfix Harriers. Which scale and variant is yours.

I will have to look. Other than a ginormous Airfix Harrier I built in the 80s and the 1/72 scale Matchbox Harrier I built in the 70s, I know nothing about the plane other than they came with optional USMC markings. The one I plan on building is a smaller one so I guess it is 1/72 and the kit comes with some tube cement, plastic paint tubs and cheap paint brush. I got it at a thrift shop for around $5.

The kit has to use RAF type markings, correct?

That sounds like one of the model sets, which means its a GR.3 if its the old tooled or GR.1 if its a new tooled.

Ye, it would have to be in RAF markings, we are the only ones that operated the GR.1 and 3.

It is a GR.3. Is this a new tool (relatively new) or a rebox of the ancient kit from the early days of the Harrier? Or an old kit with some new tooled items?

If it is indeed the one with the small pots of paint, according to scalemates its an old tool kit. Its based on the original 1969 kit but then had new parts added in 1982 to produce the GR 3 and has several other releases with new parts added, preobably stores, until the model set was released in 2009. That would be this one.

Castel, To be quite honest I can't remember. I Probably got it off eBay but for the life of me I can't remember how much it was. I know I got a seperate Tamiya PE set for it as well. Looking at eBay for the Mk.1, they look to be around $45 to $50 shipping included.

Modelcrazy, here did you get this? I have been looking for the Swordfish in 1/48 that is not that super expensive Tamiya, I think it is 75 Can $$ or so. Might I ask how much was yours?

Hey Bish,

Congrats on the previous GB I had a blast and a big well done. I have no idea what I would build for this new GB, but it will be with Aussie markings. Maybe my new Airfix Walrus or a P40 Kittyhawk flown in PNG, Bomerang, Beuafighter or dare I mention the S  p  i  t  f  i  r  e????

Or I could go jet age, I have no idea, just add me down with a TBA.

Thanks for putting the time in for another great GB.

Cheers
