Hi Gents, Began work on my MPC Super Bee. The body is a real beast, needing quite a lot of clean up.  Needed a break from body work so I started putting the engine together and a few other things..

Going for a 'white' interior.  I picked up this Ivory spray can from Ace a few years ago and like the color. The paint goes on very thin and I am quite happy with it so far. Will save the Iwata for the exterior...

PJ, ooritz and cbaltrin, good work guys. That checker decal on the Mustang would scare me away from building it. Well done Smile

That is one cool looking Super ! Lovevthevold Mopars.

I have most of the big decals on but still have to spray the wingtips white to add the checkerboards. The metallic shades are very subtle but different tones are visible. The puttied wings were sprayed with Floquil Old Silver for the lacquered silver look. Also used Flory Dark Dirt wash to pop skin details. Lots of tiny stencils are yet to be applied.

PJ, that is more fantastic work on the Mustang. The decaling on the tail and nose is really fantastic. And when I see the model as a whole that is so good.

Nick, super work on the Sabre Dog, it has come up so well, you gotta be pleased with that.

Omar, the resin cockpit has great detail and has come together nicely.

Cbaltrin, I will follow your build with interest, good start there.

For the Winjeel, I have got all the cockpit framing in and the fuselage glued up. I found it was easiest to glue the front of the fuselage together (reinforced with a brass plate) and then insert the middle and back frames from below. Then the fuselage was glued to the wing and the seam filled with Milliput.
The motor was assembled and stuck on the front.
The cowling went on and the seats were installed.
Next the vacformed canopy was cut out using Dymo tape as a guide I didn’t get it right the first time, but at least I had not cut off too much!
And trimmed and fitted

Thanks lost. Yours is shaping up nicely, good work indeed.

Well Mary is shaping up and she got her legs and wing tips checker boarded. I toned down the Alclad reflectivity a tad since this was a combat aircraft subjected to operational wear.

Flaps are on and down, so are the gear doors and decals on the drop tanks. Getting closer to the finish line.

That hose adds so much reality to it Yes

Here are some WIP pix of the Bird Dog

The cockpit. The rear seat is dry fit. On the instructions it says to install the seat first into the holes/craddles on the interior of the fuselage. The holes/craddles are not there so will try to fiddle with it, shouldn't be a big deal

The fuselage. Fits well together but note the absence of pins and holes to help with alignement

Instrument panel. Would be helpful to note to cut the decal to shape before applying it.

Overall, so far so good.

More work done on the 1970 Super Bee.  Finally figured out how the frame &  chasis goes together so glued the frame/chasis/firewall assembly together. Finished painting the interiror tub , dash and re-coated the seats their base color.  Initially I envisioned this kit to be finished in  Lemon Twist/Top Banana yellow with the black super bee stripes, but looking at some pictures on-line, I really am liking this metalic green shown below.. Not quite set on the color though so I ordered a few more colors from MCW.

I like MCW paints. Their paints cure super hard and polish out very nicely. Love the sexy lines of the Super Bee.

I have only used them on spoons so far PJ, but I like what I am seeing. Looking forward to using them on a full body.

Cracked open the 1/48 Tamiya P-51B Mustang and did a bit of black basing for the cockpit.  Interior green comes next

Thanks,

John

Been away most of the year and trying to get caught up on everythng. Alot of nice builds with subject that you don't see a lot of.

It has been a slow start to the year for me with this only being my 2nd build so far

I started on the Academy P-51 with an Eduard set for the cockpit. It is a lot of work and while it looks okay my PE skills are lacking.

The kit went together well and I was able to get the primer, preshade and base coats on this last week

Noticed a seam that needs to be taken care of on the bottom

Hoping to get the white stripes and the decals on this weekend.

Looking good gents, great looking bunch of models.

So the kit has extra tanks and some nice 500 lb. bombs that would look good in a vignette setting so I had an old picture frame to use for the base, some Sculptamold and water to make a tarmac. Taped up the edges to protect the wood.

The Sculptamold was mixed and poured, smoothed out and expansion joints added.

Then craft acrylics were used to paint and drybrush the tarmac. Oil stains were added.

Figuring out positioning things. The disposible paper tanks and bombs need paint and decals.

Brake lines were also added to the main landing gear.

JBRaider , P-51B is coming along well. Can't start my Airfix P-51D yet, or my updates might get lost in the sea of other P-51 updates ;-P

If anybody colides with this one, he/she can't say "I didn't see it" Smile

Nice little kit this one, all went together well. The only problem was not with the kit but with my shaking hands

Why British markings? Because the decals provided were of such a poor quality that they were falling appart as they were separating from the sheet. So I found some old decals, correct or not, here it is

Can't wait to see the final color you choose!

In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Great job on the Bird Dog Castle, it's nice to see subjects that don't pop up all the time.

Such as a P-51.....Embarrassed

I got all the painting and decals on this weekend.

The reference I had doesn't show white stripes on the tail even thought most of the 51's seemed to have them.

the Miss Dallas decal seemed a little large but I think it looks okay.  The Decals are a mix of Kits World, Academy and Airfix.

Hope to get finished next weekend.
