                        If you want to 'float' your PBM and don't want to buy clear, porable resin, I've seen 'plastc water' sheets sold in some hobby shops and also there's modeling clays that can be painted.

                        Tamiya in fact sells some nice "water sheets." I'm thinking about using that for my Spruce Goose.

                        I'd be very interested to know more about those "plastic water" sheets. I've never seen nor heard of them before. That might actually work because I would need it to look very calm like many of the seaplane anchorages in the Pacific were. I've been asking around about ways to do this besides having material that needs to be heated as I'm concerned about this melting the plastic. One of the other options I've seen is Woodland Scenics "Realistic Water" that comes in 16 oz bottles, but for a PBM in 1/72 I would need around 4-6 of these even for a thin layer.

                        Are there any on-line carriers of these sheets? Never seen them in my LHS but I think I will stop by and ask. He's said many times that he can order it if he doens't have it.

                        All this talk about the PBM Mariner makes it tempting to pull my Pend Orielle PBM Mariner out of storage for this build... oh so tempting... alas I cannot with the move to a new house coming soon. I'll be lucky to get these two Wildcat's I'm working on in.

                        Oh yeah... I jumped the gun on the start by the way. Sorry. Kinda had to since I start moving in a 5 weeks. So what's the penalty... a yellow card or something?Big Smile [:D]

                        That means you have to scratch build the engine! Wire harness, push rods, crank case cover and all!

                        I'll have enough work sanding the resin supports. Diagrams tell a different story than written directions, so I'm trying to get things to fit my way. Must be something lost in translation. Directions written in Anguish, not English. Not as funny as Engrish, unfortunately.Big Smile [:D]

                        Please add me to your list. I will be building the Monogram 1/72 Albatross backdated to a Navy UF-1, per the article in FSM November 04. It will be in Dark Sea Blue with yellow rescue markings, thanks to some great pictures posted by BlackWolf. I'd been looking for this scheme a while (thanks again, BW). Now if I can just make the decals on my old computer.

                        Looking good there Quagmyre , I also must confess that I've also played around with the sunderland , glueing several parts together , but I can't go any further until the PE cockpit arrives , abit of a delay now but the Oz group build is on now so that will keep me buzy until the parts arrive hopefully by next week ..

                        No probs Aurora-7..

                        I've found a aussie subject that I can build for the sunderland but trying to find some decals to make up the codes and the serial numbers . I want to make up the code RB-E It belongs to the sunderland mkIII which flew in the RAAF 10 squadron which was shot down at bay of biscay . the decals in the box look like there a dull red colour and there about 19mm high . also the serial number DV969 in black there about 3mm high , The box ones are for a Canadian plane didn't want to use them.
                        I also can't see the top turret on this plane did some sunderland mkIII have them removed .Question [?]
                        Any help much appreciated..

                        Numerous photos show Mk.III with upper turret removed, to include the fairing it sat in. I have no idea if that was something a squadron could do or what. My two refs don't discuss it at all.
                        Unsure on markings: I have no pic of RB-E, but many similar marked a/c carry grey letters.

                        I've got one started from a last year. Juat the cockpit assembly so far. I have a Pro-modeler -5A version and the regeluar Revell/Monogram -5 I'll have to check what the -5A decals are.

                        Yep that will be about right , it has happened a couple of times in the past but I'm not going to wait for ever though..

                        I've ordered the PE cockpit for the catalina as well as the sunderlands this should be interesting .
